Ap for Iphone to Track Nutrition
Mandyrae replied to jennypenny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use myfitnesspal and my fitbit... I do feel though for tracking food myfitnesspal is the best since it has a HUGE database. I have talked a few of my friends to sign up but no one is following through so all I see all day is my postings... so sad.. lol. Would love new friends to help encourage me! Saxypanda is my ID on there =) -
I just got my fitbit yesterday! I did research on both and found that for the price the Fitbit did a lot more and I also like how small it is. =) Anyone that has a fitbit want to be friends on the website?

Mandyrae replied to Russian_BANDit_inNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc said it depends on the size of your upper stomach. -
night time munchies....
Mandyrae replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also need to find a way to keep myself busy, during the day I am very good about what I eat and how much but at night I struggle. I decided to take a knitting and crochet class (to see which one I like more) at Joann Fabics so I can give myself something to do at night to keep my mind off food. -
I love it too! I have yet to have any problems with cereal, I love cherrios.. especially honey nut and chocolate cherrios! Instead of eating it at breakfast though I eat it my treat/snack

I find on days my band is acting up and I'm not able to eat much I get hiccups a lot.

LOL you guys are funny! It is the same guy, force of habit that I still call him my boyfriend. =) I have not been on in forever! Fiances mom was in town for 2 weeks for Christmas and with getting things ready for the wedding I have been super busy and just haven't been online at all. My lips are MUCH better! Still I tiny bit dry but nothing you can see. I have been watching my Protein intake and have been making sure I am getting the amount I need everyday, along with drinking a ton of Water. I still need to find a new Vitamin. I have been so busy that I just pushed that aside (which I know I shouldn't have) I plan on getting on next week and ordering some real ones instead of the kiddie Vitamins I have been taking! Thank you everyone for the tips and the well wishes!!! Only a few more days!!!

Since surgery I have been noticing that my lips have been really dry.. and in the last month they have been getting worse...they have been swollen and super dry, the corners crack and they just hurt... I was complaining to my boyfriend last night and he said I needed more protien. I thought he was joking but this morning I looked it up and sure enough servere dry lips are a sign of protien deficiency, along with Iron and B2. I thought I was doing good with my protien intake, before surgery I wouldn't even eat meat and now I crave it so I thought I was even getting more protien then I was before. Has anyone else gone through this? I take flintstones chewables but I take it thats not enough.. any ideas on a really good Vitamin?

What do you do when you have a stuck episode?
Mandyrae replied to JJLaw08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I walk around, it may take 5-10 min depending on how bad I get stuck but it works every time. I can eat just about anything if I take it slow and really chew it up...it's only when I am not paying attention and try to inhale my food that I get stuck. -
Chest Pain after surgery
Mandyrae replied to Danielle07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think most people have gas pains after surgery. I know mine lasted almost a week. -
how many cc's for restriction 14cc
Mandyrae replied to Alfie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I did not feel any real restriction until I got my last fill 2 weeks ago and now have 7.5 in my 14 band. Have lost 10 lbs since then!! I am set for another fill next week but I am wondering if I still need to go in. I think I may and just see what my doc thinks =) -
What a difference 3 mos make...
Mandyrae replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Weird metallic taste in mouth
Mandyrae replied to JRoberts's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That happen to me the first time I got a fill as well. Not sure what it was from but I quickly forgot about it. I have had 2 other fills since and it never came back. You can always call your doc and ask them but I wouldn't worry about it. =) -
Ever since my BF became a diabetic last year I have been eating (mostly) a sugar free diet. The thing that gets me is the drinks that say right on the front of the bottle, no sugar added. I buy it and think man this is sooo good and I look at the back... yeah 40+ grams of sugar per serving!!! I know fruits have natural sugar and all but how can they put on the front no sugar added?! I swear the drinks that say no sugar added tend to have VERY high amount of sugar in it.

I also was banded Sept 10th and just got my 3rd fill this week, I was talking to my surgeon and told her the same thing.. some days I have restriction and can only eat a little and other days its almost as if I didn't have the band. She said she felt I was getting close to my sweet spot since I am getting restriction half of the time. Since she believes I am getting close, my fills are going to be small until I finally hit where I need to be. I wouldn't worry about stretching your band unless your ALWAYS over eating all day. Spoke with my surgeon about this as well. it will take A LOT of over eating over time to really stretch your pouch.

Do you have a 14 cc band?
Mandyrae replied to Sheer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a 14cc band and just got my second fill this week. At 6ccs now and I am starting to feel a little restriction. I am not really losing much right now but I know by time I get my next fill in 2 weeks I will be good =) -
After fills how many days do you stay on liquids?
Mandyrae replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just went for my 2nd fill today and my doc says liquids for 24 hours. I work with 2 ladies that have the band as well and one lady only has to be on liquids for 24 hours the other ladys doc said 48. I think 24 hours to be safe and then play it by ear, start slow and see what you can and can not tolerate. -
Help, How do you get the crushed pills down YUK
Mandyrae replied to macie1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take a small piece of paper and fold it in half and put the crushed pill in the middle of the crease. Then pour the crushed pill to the middle of your tongue and then drink something really fast. I use to take powder asprin and the asprin came in a folded little paper. I use to gag everytime until I started pouring the powder into the middle of my tongue, you don't have as many taste buds there. -
What's for dinner tonight?
Mandyrae replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Grilled chicken with corn on the cob and some brown/wild rice. -
I was having the same issues. Been banded now a little over a month and found it really hard to stop drinking while eating. The last week and half I really have been forcing myself not to have a drink anywhere near me while I was eating. It has been really hard but slowly is becoming possible. I can't imagine what it must be like to have to deal with the dysphagia and the band.. have you talked to your doctor about this? I know my doctor told me if I feel I had to drink something to take very small sips. You can do this! Just take it one small step at a time =)
