SalOdyssey replied to UpandAtom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do not give up. As someone who went through the pre-op diet and had a surgery aborted, it sucks. What I can tell you is days 2-5 are the worst days. It gets easier from here on out. Hang in there!! -

Did any of you have to try prescription weight loss pills before looking into the gastric sleeve?
SalOdyssey replied to amy120's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome job, man!! YOU GO!!! Thank you! -
ANYONE who said these words "It is the easy way out" already doesn't know what they're talking about and frankly all other "advise" they give should be ignored. Best of luck to you on your journey!!!

Less than 40g carbs forever?
SalOdyssey replied to Lizardlady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pre-op. I've been doing a high protein/low carb (under 50g daily) diet. I've been doing it for just over two years with great results. I started my journey at 688lbs, and am currently 450lbs and scheduled for the sleeve later this month. Plenty of people do low carb diets with great success, some don't. Don't forget that it is also the carbs you eat that make the difference too. Fruit and veggies are ideal, while pastas and breads aren't. Right now this close to surgery I echo what others have said above, now is not the time to switch. Best left to after the procedure. -

I used phentermine early on to jump start my weight loss, and did not gain anything back. I used it for about 6-8 months. I've actually continued to lose. I started at 688lbs, and am currently 450lbs all before surgery. Surgery is scheduled tentatively for 5/31. The main thing is changing your eating habits. Phentermine will not do anything unless you change how you eat. I've mostly been doing high Protein, low carb (under 50G per day) diet. -

Pure Protein. Look on Amazon for them. I use their chocolate and it's very good. -
Day 8 of pre op liquids
SalOdyssey replied to Tssiemer1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there!! Don't give up the worst has past. Ask your surgeon if there is anything else you can eat. I know mine allows non-starchy vegetables and/or plain yogurt. -
I started my weight loss at 688. As of this past Saturday I am at 450. I've lost 238lbs in the last 25+ months w/o surgery. I attempted WLS in November 2015, which has to be aborted. Complications with keeping me inflated, and therefore couldn't operate safely. If all goes as planned, I will make my second attempt on 5/31. I'm excited, but nervous for the road ahead. My goal is to get to 250. Last time I was there was late junior high and still going through puberty. I have no reference as to what I may look like as an adult. So I want to get to 250 see how I feel and what I look like and then go from there. Plus with the skin removal procedures which I will need, who knows where my ending weight will be. Dr says conservatively, he expects 45-60 lbs of loose skin. Keep up the great work guys!!

Nice!! I'm getting my starting weight with Never Again in Italian. Will probably do it once I am close to the end. Figured on my inner wrist area. Haven't decided which arm though.

Sorry you had to deal with this jerk! What can possibly be gross about it? It's not like he can see the after affects internally.

Congrats!!!

How did you like the Atkins Lift drinks?

I'm closing in on my 2nd attempt. My first surgery had to be aborted. Long story. But if all goes to plan, I start my pre-op diet on 5/17 and get operated on 5/31. Best of luck @@AmberMc03!!

Days 2-4 into 5 are the worst days. At least it was for me. Once you get over the hump it's relatively smooth sailing afterwords. In a few short weeks I get to do it all over again.

Supervised Weight Loss Plan
SalOdyssey replied to mrshill45's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every insurance plan is different. It is best to coordinate with your surgeons office. They probably know the guidelines best.
