  1. I do get severly sick after waking up from surgery. But I found out that if I talk very openly about it with anesthia they will always do something to help me I have had numerous surgeries at different hospitals and everytime the Dr will give me something!!. THey usually ask me about nausea before they ask me about pain. And in the instance with the band they are going to prevent you from vomiting at all cost becuase that could risk slip-age of your band. So please don't be worried and please don't let it be a reason you delay getting your band!

    Crushed...

I am so sorry to hear about your troubles! Have you considered going to Mexico. From the advertisements I've seen alot of times it can be done for around $4500 plus cost of flying. That's not a huge amount and maybe can be borrowed from a family member or friend. Or maybe someone could co-sign a loan for you. Just a thought. DONT GIVE UP! This is YOUR life. You deserve to live it.
  3. I am doing Optifast shakes only for 10 days. No crystal light, no jello, no popcicles, no broth. PROTEIN SHAKES AND WATER ONLY>>>>> UGH!! But surgery is Friday adn I can't wait to task some broth.

    Pregnant and Losing?

Congrats on your pregnancy!!! How exciting..... Well here is my little spill I am an OB nurse and this is what we look for: Your babies growth and development. We had a girl who never had her band unfilled was still losing weight and her baby was perfectly fine. There should really be a discussion with your OBGYN about how much weight you can safely lose before it could effect your baby. My sister only gained 1lb during her pregnancy and my neice weighed nearly 8lbs. She just lost lost lost weight until the end, but becuase she was considered obese it was ok. Now if you weigh 140 now your Dr may not want you losing much more weight. Good Luck!
  5. After 6 months of nutrition classes (gained 10 lbs), cardiac clearnace, psych eval, I got approval in 8 days. I also got scheduled for surgery on the 27th. I started my Optifast pre-op diet tonight. I never thought it would happen that fast. I am so happy. Can't wait to share with ya'll and get to know everyone! :smile2:

    What kind of Protein Shakes??????

I, sadly, dont have a choice on a pre-op diet and have to do Optifast. Every 2 hours. But so far so good. :smile2:
  8. Thank You Thank You Thank You! YOUR story is as beautiful as you are! I have my pre-op tomorrow and start the dreaded 10 day diet. Because I have read this story it will be so much easier for me! Congrats and if this was FaceBook you'd get a big 'ol "Like" from me!
  9. I also will be going to my pre-op appt tomorrow. I don't have that many questions but I did ask before the difference. My Dr told me that really it was a preferance and that sometimes that they use the bigger band for men. Or sometimes for really obese women that would need to lose weight like a man would. For instance. I am 28yrs old, 5'2" and weigh 230. I will be getting a 10 cc band. But for another women who was my age and height but weighs 430 she may get a 15cc band. Good Luck! Keep in touch!
  10. First Dr meeting in Nov '09 ----life got in the way Start of 6 months of nutrition classes Feb 22 2010 Last of nutrtion classes July 20 2010 Psych eval, Cardiac clearance- March '10 Paperwork in to insurance- August 5 2010 Approval- TODAY!!! 8/17/10 Called Dr office this morning and waiting to hear back from them to start diet and get surgery date. They said they can probably get me in by the end of the month! Good luck everyone!
  11. I gained 10lbs during my 6 month "diet", however I kinda set myself up for that. When I received my first appt date I started a diet so I wouldn't look like a "fattie" during my first weight in. WEll I got down to 224. Thats not my true weight. And I knew it. So when I weighted 227 the next time it looked like I wasn't compliant when actually that should of been my beginning weight. Anyway, haven't heard from insurance yet but when I do I'll let you know the outcome!
