  1. A heating pad on my shoulder help me amazingly! I'd walk and get back to the heating pad ASAP. Feel better soon!
  2. I, too was banded on 8/27 but have not had 1 fill. At my 2 wk followup my Dr said there was no way he'd consider a fill until at least 6 wks out. So that leave me until 10/13, which is fine. I have to agree with the other posters on this. Sadly, I think your Dr is setting you up for failure. How is going to be when you "learn" to eat real food? I would also lose 30 lbs if I was only doing soup and Protein shakes. Any one would. Banded or not. Do you mind telling us what your Dr's logic is on this? I don't consider my Dr conservative by any means but I also know he wouldn't do anything like the treatment you have recieved. With all that being said, I'm sorry. If it's working for you, your Dr and he has successful pts maybe he's method works. I just never heard anything like it at all. Congrats on your Band and keep us posted!

    Cymbalta after surgery

I am 4 wks post op and take Cymbalta and Celexa. I"m a little more sensitive it seems now but no big problems. Let me know what you hear from your PCP.
  4. I am 4 weeks out and luckily (also gratefully) not having any hunger. I am so happy not to go through "bandster hell" My first fill is 10/13 and I'm ready!

    So emotional today

Congrats so far! I'm proud of you! And I remember asking myself "why did Ido this" but really it's ok to be sad and upset. You are ending a long-term relationship.... with food. And it's sad and scary. Please stay strong and alot of ppl are here are super encouraging and we'd love to talk you through any problems. Feel free to message me anytime!
  6. Wow... I haven't heard about this show but I am going to look into it. Seems a little extreme to me. And the price tag is straight up crazy!

    Zumba

I also do Zumba at the gym. I am lucky to say that my instructor is awesome. She lost 80lbs just doing Zumba as her workout so she is very passionate about it. Zumba can be hard but it's so worth doing. And the classes are usually go packed that no one even notices you or what you maybe doing wrong. I think the videos would be great too.
  8. My doctor prefers that I didn't use them, or in his words "become dependent" on them. If I need to use them I do it very sparingly. He is one of the Dr's that wants his pt to eat as normal/healthy as possible. He allows breads, Pasta, steaks, anything as long as they can tolerate it. I know I can't eat the same junk I used to. I am constantly losing (lbs and inches) and I am nearly 4wks out. :rolleyes2:

    How much food is enough?

I am 3 wks out (tomorrow) and at my 1 wk post op appt the Dr told me to get use to get 4 oz at each sitting. I have 3 meals and 2 Snacks. And luckly  I am full. I drink plent of Water between (of course waiting the between time). I have no idea if I have any Fluid in my band or not. I get a fill on Oct 13. Are you getting full at any certain amount?

    Carbonation!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have a scientific answer for you but from a nursing point of view, we tell our C-Section pts not to drink carbonation or to drink from a straw due to the fact that the fizz and extra air they drink could (and usually does) cause bloating, gas and extreme pain. Now, that being said some people can handle it. I googled it and here is what the LapBand site had to say Lap-Band Diet Restrictions All you can do is try and find out for yourself. Because I have a strong feeling you are gonna get both sides of the story.

    I've lost something

I"m afraid I'll lose waht little booty I have too.... adn boobs. Geez. Dr Finnell is my Dr too, PS
  14. missgypsy~ First, I'd like to say "Hey neighbor" I am only 45 minutes away from you, in Wichita Falls. Ok, to your topic. I had the same thing happen. Let them go. I am starting to figure out that women from around here are jealous and ugly acting. I'm fine with my family and husband and my "real friends". You just keep losing that weight and forget them!
  15. Hey everyone! I was banded on the 27th and no lie... ever since I got the band I wake up in the middle of the night so thirsty. I have to keep a bottled Water on my night stand. And it's just not once I am waking up. It's usually 3-4 times a night. I am drinking my required about during the day so I don't know what the problem is. Any ideas?
  16. While I have been on mushy's for a week and I didn't gain. My weight loss slloooowwwweeeddd down. IT's frustrating. I am allowed to walkn (20 minutes, I'm 2 wks postop today) and can go full force exercise 4 wks postop. Keep your head up. Before you know it, you'll be at your first fill and losing!!! Keep doing waht you are.

    please help

Hello~ Congrats on starting this process... however it can be long and drawn out. But also, super worth it. Do you have any insurance? Medicaid? Medicare? Alot of insurance plans now do cover weight loss surgery. Medicaid/Medicare do. You just have to follow their protocal. If not, could you get a loan? Also, have you looked into government trails. It may not be for lapband specifically but maybe the gastric sleeve. Good luck!

    Holy Gas.

UGH!! Gas...my biggest enemy. For me it got better the first wk - wk and a half. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks and it occasionally sneaks up on me and my shoulder gets achy. And Gas-x didn't help me either. Hope it gets better for you soon! Sounds like you are doing everything right
  19. I am sorry you are having problems. And not to dismiss the way you feel or the fact their office hasn't called you back, but it probably has nothing to with the actual lapband. As a nurse if I have 10 phone messages I (myself) am gonna go in order and by severity. Could you call your PCP? Also, it has always been suggested to me not to massage your incisions until you are a good 6 month to 1 year out. I have a pacemaker and got permission to rub that site at my 6 month follow up. But that is something much different. That is just the advice we give at the hospital I work at regarding C-Section incisions. Please keep us updated!

    BANDED AUGUST 27th!!

I too was also banded on the 27th. I am in the same boat as ya'll. The first thing I remember saying in recovery was "This hurst alot more than I thought it would" The port site pain was crazy bad for me. I have been walking the length of my street, sometimes just half to deal with my gas pain. Now don't get me wrong. There are only 4 houses on my street so it's not too far. I am still taking my pain meds about twice a day. And honestly some of my pain comes from starving. Yesterday I was taking a little nap and my stomach growling actually woke me up. My follow up is tomorrow and I am pretty sureI go to mushies then. I can not wait!!!

    14 hrs and counting....

Yay!! Good luck tomorrow.... and then I am right behind you Friday morning. Keep us posted as you can
  24. While I agree with you 100%.... it isn't that easy to get a heart transplant. My mom is currently waiting on a heart and had to be approved by a committee. She had to do a psych eval, nutrition appts, labs, and all the same stuff I had to do for lapband. Odd huh???
  25. Hum.... ya'll are much friendlier than me. I also lost my job and started back to school during my 6 months. I gained 10lbs. Got approved and I always had a smile on my face. Don't let them get you down. Do your best and if that's not losing a ton of weight than so be it.... GOOD LUCK!!
