Missouri? Tricare?
HappygoSusan replied to ashly200423's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was initially referred off post to a civilian doctor, so I called general surgery on our post to find out why, they reviewed my info and took over my referral. I have been very happy with the results. Susan -
Missouri? Tricare?
HappygoSusan replied to ashly200423's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in Colorado. Tricare west, however I used a MTF so the approval process is different. I was able to get the sleeve at the MTF, whereas I don't believe that is an option going through a civilian surgeon. Susan -
During the initial seminar, my surgeon stated the the bypass showed great results for people with co morbidities like diabetes and HBP. I had neither, and didn't care for the idea of having my intestines rerouted, so I chose the sleeve. 20 months out and I have no regrets. Susan

This freaking Standstill
HappygoSusan replied to iamblessed1225's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
During WL I probably stayed around 800-1000. At one year check up with Nut, she suggested I get it up to 1200, since I was at goal. I kept losing at 1200, so now I shoot for 1500, sometimes more. I eat whatever I want, meaning I don't count carbs but I do count protein, usually get around 70 grams a day. I could probably get more protein within my 1500 calories if I eliminated more carbs, but that wouldn't be as satisfying to me. Susan -
Hope all goes well today Susan

This freaking Standstill
HappygoSusan replied to iamblessed1225's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on the weight loss. As for the stall, as long as you are following Dr's orders, this shall pass. I would have weeks with no movement on the scale, but sure enough, it would start going down again. This was my pattern throughout my WL but I'm happy to say, 20 months out, I am at goal and maintaining. Susan -

3 days post op
HappygoSusan replied to Brian T. Poe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drinking gets easier. I found for the first few months, water had to be ice cold, otherwise it felt too heavy. Warm drinks also went down easy. Room temperature water didn't feel comfortable going down for about 7/8 months. Just keep sipping! -
Great job!

Percentage of excess weight lost
HappygoSusan replied to timbluejim's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I've lost 100% of my excess weight. I range between 157-160 pounds. I'm 6ft tall so that puts my BMI at around 21.4 Susan -

Gastric Sleeve Experts... Please Chime In!
HappygoSusan replied to lillita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your NUT is just giving you the average. That means some people lose more than 65%, some lose less. This certainly doesn't mean you will be average. It is completely possible to lose 100% of your excess weight. I did, and I was far from a "perfect patient". I do follow my doctor's rules about not drinking 30 minutes before or after meals. I do try to always eat Protein first, but I still eat junk food occasionally, I am just more mindful of watching what I eat if the scale moves pass my comfort zone of my ideal weight range Susan -
When you're planning your diet, how do you make sure you're sticking to the plan?
HappygoSusan replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My diet plan is basically ensure I get at least 65-80 grams of Protein a day. I track on my fitness pal to make sure I reach that goal but I do not track sugar or carbs. My daily intake usually averages about 1400 calories. I maintain a weight of 157-160, which places my BMI at around 21.4 Susan -
I tried to post in veteran sleeve forum but got an error response that I didn't have enough post history to post there. How many post does it take to make me a veteran. I just assumed it was time post op. Susan

Psych appointment help
HappygoSusan replied to vmcelroy70611's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went through the psych eval twice, once for the band, once for the sleeve. Two different psychiatrist. Try not to stress over it. It just seems to be an evaluation to make sure you have a clear understanding and realistic expectations of the surgery. Just be honest with your answers! -
