Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Claire My daughter finishes school this year and I promised her a girly holiday of her choice. She chose a cruiseround Italy and Greece (that'll teach me!) so we are off in June. Sarah, I have had one fill so far back in October so I have probably waited too long between them. I am going to book for the 18 March so I might see you there. You are absolutely right. What is the point of going through the op if we don't hang in there and stick it out. I have been much better behaved today and the band is trying to tell me something as I was sick after one spoon of rice tonight which is unusual for me. Shaz

Thanks for the advice. I wasn't even eating cos I was hungry. Claire, I think you are right, I need a new hobby! I have ordered one of these new power plates for a months rental to see if that will give me something to do rather than eat. I'm too lazy to go to the gym, but the power plate is done in short bursts. I might be kidding myself on but it is worth a try. Freckles, I agree, I will book a fill when they come to Glasgow which is in 2 weeks I think - I will phone in the morning and make the appointment. I feel like I have no restriction unless I eat bread. I have booked a holiday with my skinny daughter for June so unless I want to look like a beached whale, I need to get a large dose of self discipline back. Thanks for the support and I hope everyone keeps losing x

Hi I haven't been on here for ages, glad to hear that everyone is still losing - keep up the good work. Freckles, sorry to hear your sad news. My weight loss has slowed right down but I am eating full meals in most cases without ny problems so I think it is time for my second fill next time the clinic comes to Glasgow. The only thing I struggle to eat is bread, in any form. I am currently disgusted with myself after stuffing my face with a pkt of walkers sensations - family size after my dinner. I really need a good push to get back on track. I think that is why I loged back into the forum to get insparation from everyone. I struggled to find the forum - what have they done to it? I don't think Chris is back in Glasgow for another couple of weeks so I will need to find something o do o sop me eating rubbish. Take care Shaz

The instructions they give you in the pack tell you to change them every second day. If you don't take them off, you could miss early signs of wound infection which is one of the things Dr Chris warns about. I would change them!! The Lloyds ones were not as good as the hospital ones but they did the trick

Freckles, I bought dressings in Lloyds pharmacy for 28p each. They had expensive boxes on the shelf but I told them it was for post surgery and they brought a box where you could buy just what you need. Good luck to your daughter and everyone else who is about to take the plunge - I have no regrets, 7 weeks and 17lbs lighter, I just wish I'd done it years ago Shaz

And there was me trying to put on a positive spin!!! If you make a mistake, your band lets you know and you learn really quickly not to try that food again for a while! LOL:smile2: I am going for my first fill next Thursday so I'll let you know how it goes.

I flew in to charleroi with ryan air bcause it was much cheaper(over £100 each) and we hired a car for 3 days which cost £60. It is too far for a taxi to be included in the package offered by Frederik but only about 50 minutes in the car and a straight road

Hi I took cup a soups with me(I don't like milk either) but to be honest, I didn't feel much like eating after the op. If you take them, remember and take a mug with you cos the hotel only have small paper cups in the room. Everyone over there is lovely. I am now 4 weeks post op and it feels so long ago now. You will adjust really quickly to what you can and can't eat. Good luck! Shaz

Hi I seem to be going backwards. I will be 3 weeks post op tomorrow and was managing really well with foods but yesterday I had a slice of toast and today a couple of pieces of pasta both of which came straight back up. I managed to eat pasta and toast last week. I have not had a fill yet but is it possible for the band to get tighter and more restrictive without one? Sharon

Hi Leema Gosh you've been through he mill but it will get easier every day now. In the info I was given at the hospital, it said that the dressings should be changed every 2 days. I cleaned the wounds with the blue liquid stuff the nurses left on my locker at the hospital (if they didn't mean me to take it, I obviously nicked it) I kept the wounds covered with dressings I bought from the chemist here until day 12 when the stitch in the drain was to come out as I was told to avoid getting the wounds wet. The nurse at my GP took out my stitch on Tuesday and cut off the ends of the dissolving stitches(although she did say it was the first time she had seen them finished left on the outside of the skin like that - must be how they do it in Belgium). I feel great now, although I keep getting awful hunger pangs. I will be 2 weeks post op tomorrow so hopefully you will soon be feeling well again. Shaz x

I will have had my band two weeks on Friday and am still on slop! I am having yoghurt for breakfast, soup for lunch and then soup/scrambled eggs or something else light for dinner. Problem is, by mid afternoon, I am ravenous and wandering around the office with my stomach growling so loud that everyone else must think I've a serious problem. Any suggestions on what else to eat. I tried porridge but it seemed to lie in my stomach and I was really uncomfortable for the rest of the day. Not looking forward to the next four weeks until I get a fill . Dr Chris told me no meat for 4 weeks. has everyone stuck to that? Shaz
