July banders-work together
SmallerChristie replied to Nicole74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL - thanks for the welcome! I'm not even close to "Small" Christie yet, but some day that will be me. I have been intrigued by the electronic cigarettes, too. Would prefer no nicotine at all, but if this next attempt fails, I might just consider that. Thanks, Txredgirl, for the reply about C25K! I'm intimidated by the thought of it, but it looks to be fairly reasonable on paper and I really want to give it a shot. My first "organized" event probably wouldn't be til next spring though.... by the time I'm ready, we're likely to have snow on the ground in Minnesota! In the meantime, I plan to start on my treadmill anyway, so as not to be bouncing up and down the neighborhood scaring the neighbors! -

Hey everyone! I haven't had my post-op visit yet, and plan to ask while I'm there in a couple of days, but I'm wondering what advice all of you have been given about moving up from walking to RUNNING? I never imagined myself wanting to run, but I'm thinking about trying the Couch 2 5K program and am anxious to get started before I lose the motivation! -

My doc won't let me take Chantix because I've been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. I've heard that it works amazingly though! Hubby and I are determined to quit again in ONE WEEK! We never should have started again, but I'm weak. -

7/30 seems to be a popular date!! By the way, Brockbabe - Holy Cow WAY TO GO - 175 pounds lost so far!! You are my inspiration. -
Port Pain at 1 week Post Op

I also had my surgery on 7/30, and I too still have port pain (AND gas pain, but it has definitely gotten better in the last couple days.) Here's hoping we're both feeling good as new SOON! -
APPROVED!!! yay! how long were you out of work/school?
SmallerChristie replied to babyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was 8 days ago and I'm not planning to go back to work for 3 more weeks. I *could* probably go back Monday, and probably could have even worked a couple days this past week, but I would have been miserable. I still have considerable pain from gas and from my incisions, and very limited energy. I'd rather spend the energy that I DO have on myself and my family versus pouring it out on the job and then being too exhausted on my own time. Of course I've got really great benefits at my job, and am getting 3 weeks of disability pay at 100% after 5 days of used PTO. -
Scale?
SmallerChristie replied to brittanyleigh0303's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have the glass Weight Watchers one from Target. It works just fine for me, but it tends to weigh a couple pounds higher than ANY of the doctor's scales that I've used. I like it that way though. I would be bummed if I went to the doctor or surgeon and found that I was heavier than I thought. -

I was only required to take 5 days of PTO before disability kicked in, and I know how nice that is! I'll still have a couple weeks of PTO left after I go back. -
July banders-work together

Hello everyone! I just found this site yesterday, and this wonderful thread today. I hope you don't mind if I join you? I was banded on July 30th, so I'm on day 8. My first post-op visit is coming up on Tuesday. No fills for 8 weeks, at the earliest. My surgeon has some fairly strict post-surgery eating guidelines as follows: Week 1: Clear Liquid (this was rough!!) Week 2: Full Liquid Weeks 3-4: pureed Foods Weeks 5-8: Soft Foods Week 9: Regular Foods I'm still looking forward to the end of the gas pain in my shoulders and for my swollen incisions to heal!! I'm tired of hurting. I have absolutely no desire to go back to work either. Call me terrible, but I've been busting my a$$ at that job for years and I'm going to take off as much time as I'm allowed to. My disability is approved through August 29th, so my plan is to take it all and go back to work on 8/30. I'm hopeful that I might actually be able to ENJOY some of the time off..... the last week certainly wasn't much fun. Can't wait to get to know you all! -

This is HYSTERICAL!! I want to get a shirt like that too...only mine is Diet Pepsi. LOL I'm also not as strong as you, and I caved on smoking after the surgery. I was doing great pre-surgery, but I started smoking again the day I got home from the hospital. I just needed SOMETHING to do instead of eating.... -
I just found this site tonight, having been banded a week ago today. No regrets, so far, but it's still pretty early. My first post-op visit is coming up on Tuesday. No fills for 8 weeks, at the earliest. My surgeon has some fairly strict post-surgery eating guidelines as follows: Week 1: Clear liquid Week 2: Full Liquid Weeks 3-4: pureed Foods Weeks 5-8: Soft Foods Week 9: Regular Foods I cannot tell you how happy I was to have a 1/2 cup of creamy Soup for dinner tonight! Yummmmm. I'm even more looking forward to scrambled eggs and cottage cheese NEXT week! I've been eating pretty well for the last few months, but the clear liquid diet for the past 10 days or so has brought on some killer cravings. Luckily, I'm pretty sure it's just head hunger... I haven't really felt hungry hungry. :smile2: Also looking forward to the end of the gas pain in my shoulders and for my swollen incisions to heal!! Can't wait to get to know you all!

New to site (banded, 30lbs lost so far)
SmallerChristie replied to theskinnyme's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi there! I just joined the site, too. I had my surgery a week ago today. I lost 38 pounds pre-surgery, and have lost 5 in the week since (even though I know that I'm not supposed to be weighing myself during "recovery".) Welcome! Christie
