Anyone interested in a Christmas challenge?

Hi all! Just joined, with a very aggressive goal of 3.5 pounds per week between now and Christmas!

    Goodbye 200's

Way to go! Congratulations!! I can't wait to get there myself. I'm going to try my hardest to get there by Christmas, but that's a pretty big stretch. I'll need to lose 3.5 pounds a week to get there. I think it's time to get serious about exercise!

    2 days until mushies...

Cottage cheese! Then scrambled eggs. Both were SO delicious after 2 weeks of liquids.

    I just got banded...

Welcome! I'm sorry to hear about your pain and the unsympathetic surgeon. That is really crappy. I was on Clear liquids for a week before I could advance to yogurt, so it *could* be that you just need to heal more. In the meantime, at the very least, you should look around (or better yet have someone look for you) for liquid tylenol. That would be a lot easier to get down than cut up pills! I was able to get it at my local grocery store. I hope you find some relief soon!

How to decide on a surgeon?

I was referred to my surgeon by my primary care provider.

    Port protuding

Thanks Jilly! It feels wonderful, doesn't it? 38 pounds of my loss were pre-surgery. Today I bagged up more than half of my closet because I never plan to go back to those huge clothes again.

    sweet spot and NSV

Awesome! Congrats! Riding amusement park rides with my son, shopping for clothes in a "regular" store, and not hiding from cameras are all on my list of reasons for having the surgery. That's THREE NSVs!!! Great job rockin that band!

    Finally!!!

Congratulations!! I'm equally anxious to get down into the 250s, after having stalled for almost a week so far. I keep having to tell myself that "the first couple months are about healing and not about losing weight."

    Port protuding

I dream about the day my port protrudes. It seems so unlikely at this point...

    Not bad for 6 days!

Wow! That is amazing! Congratulations on both successes.

    Nausea

I haven't heard of this. Could it be a stomach bug? Have you eaten any eggs lately? P.S. Is it possible you might be pregnant?

    Annoyed at my husband

I agree with the previous poster! If they're going to go OUT to pick up dinner, then they should eat it there and show you a little compassion. MEN! :smile2:

    Banded today all by myself!!!

I am very impressed by your courage! I don't think I could have done it without the support of my family, but I'm also a big baby. Here's hoping that your gas pain is short lived. For me, it was by FAR the worst part of my recovery.

    failure...were you worried??

I'm definitely worried, but more confident and optimistic than I am worried. Everyone and their mother knows that I had the surgery, making me even more determined not to fail.

Pre op exam yesterday went well

Congratulations on your big pre-op loss! The 25th will be here before you know it. I can't say I blame you on the liquids thing. You'll have plenty of liquids POST surgery.... I think it's cruel to make you do it 2 weeks beforehand, too! I only had to do liquids for 2 days pre-op, and that was rough.

I will be unbanded August 24th

I am really sorry to hear this! I hope your surgery on the 24th goes smoothly. Hang in there.

    New Guy saying hello!

    Welcome Jamie!
  18. That is huge! Good for you!! I'm hoping to work my way up to 5K, too. The thought of going further is a very distant dream.

    July banders-work together

I had my first post-op appointment today and have lost 8 pounds since surgery. Cannot complain at all about that! My gas pain is history and the port pain is definitely muscular...the incision itself doesn't hurt. Today my surgeon showed me where my port actually was and I figured out that is exactly where my lingering pain is coming from. It's crazy to me how far away from the incision that it actually is, and how high up it is. It's literally just below my breast bone, near the top of my rib cage on the left side. Is that weird?? Next appointment is in 6 weeks for my first fill. I have the 11cc Realize Band, and their routine at the clinic is to start out with with 4-6 ccs, and then as long as that's not too tight, they increase 1 cc per month until my BMI is under 30. That sounds pretty aggressive, doesn't it? Interestingly, they said that I should NOT go back to liquids after a fill, and that once I've progressed to "regular foods" (after 8 weeks) that I should never need to go back to an earlier stage. He suggested that once we find that sweet spot that I shouldn't ever need to eat anything that I can't stab with a fork. I got my return to work slip with an August 30th date, too. Yay! Welcome to the new folks! I love this thread and this board.

    Have I blown it?

I'm also sorry to hear of the situation that you're living in. I hope you can find the strength to get away from it! Betsy - I just want to say that I very much enjoy reading your posts. You have so much experience and consistently give good advice. Congratulations on all of your success!!

    24 hours postop

I think it's different for everyone, but it took 9 days for me. Yesterday was the first day I wasn't miserable from the gas pain. Of course, my port incision has really started hurting and burning just as the gas pain went away. Grrrrrrr.

    "her" and "huh"...

I saw this thread and was wondering what in the world is this about? Then I saw your profile and ventured into some of your other threads. I just want to say THANK YOU for being so open and honest with us. I'm lucky to have great support in my husband, and also in my psychologist, who ironically also has the Lap-Band®. I plan to share your story with my husband and family so that they can help to keep an eye on me during my journey. I, too, have an addictive personality, and I've been telling myself that once I give up overeating, smoking, caffeine, and workaholism, that I'll just switch to a "healthy" addiction......like exercise, or this message board! You've made me realize that ANY addiction is bad news, and I'm going to think about your experiences a lot, and try to remember MODERATION throughout my journey. Thank you again, and I wish the best for you during this difficult time of demon-battling! You are way more than "just rite".

I feel the same way... just got here, and loving it!
  24. LOL!! How can it be? Sadly, I think I agree.
