I would think you should be fine unless you have an aggressive doctor who puts a lot in your first fill but highly unlikely.. I think my first was 3 or 3.5 ccs and I had no issues. It helped with the hunger but no where near being too tight. Good luck with your decision and have a wonderful time on your cruise!!

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
tntbelt replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations to everyone on their weight loss so far!! Last saturday we went out of town to throw a "No More Chemo" party for my 5 year old son. He just finished his last chemo treatment YEAH But I had seen most of our family in mid Feb and have only lost about 10 lbs since but everyone was going on about how much I had lost. I think it was because of the new clothes I had finally bought where before I was still wearing my old clothes. I have went from a size 26 to an 18 which is so exciting. I had another fill today it was a small fill .3 ccs. I am over 5 cc's but not sure exactly how much is in there. I had lost 8.5 lbs in 3 weeks!! I had only lost 2 lbs in the 6 wks prior so I was happy to know I was back on track. -

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
tntbelt replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not been on here much lately I had a horrible 6 wk stall and only lost 2 lbs. I had another fill on the 13th of this month and have lost 7 lbs since.. So exciting to be back on track. I went on a weekend getaway a few weeks ago with the hubby and bought 2 pairs of capris in a size 18. I am 220 now and still have quite a ways to go but I feel soooo much better than I did 4 months ago. Number of fills: 4 Number of ccs: 5.5 (approximate she didn't tell me exactly how much last fill) Band type/size: Lap Band 10 ccs Sweet spot:: I feel good right now.. Before this last fill it was the worst It had ever been. I was waking in the middle of the night starving tummy rumbling, I am glad I didn't gain at least. I don't think I am at my sweet spot just yet but I feel like I'm close. -
I hope everything is okay with you as well...

I think it depends on body types, starting weights, exercise etc. We are all built differently and lose it differently. I have lost 40 all together and was wearing size 24/26. The last jeans I had bought were 2 pairs of size 26 from lane bryant that I wore all the time. They didn't fit tight like 24's and were comfortable. For my birthday March 7th, I went back to lane bryant to look for an outfit for gatlinburg for the first of April. I bought a pair of size 18's. They were tight but they fit and hoping by the time of the trip they fit comfortably. It did happen pretty quickly though.. It was one day my pants are getting baggy and the next I couldn't keep my pants up they just kept falling down. I agree you have had great weight loss and it will be soon but If you think your pants are stretched then actually you have lost a least a size and more sizes are soon to come.. Congratulations on your weight loss!!

I had done some crunches at the gym with weights and it was a lot of strain and I felt a pop. When I went for my last fill I told the NP that I hope I didn't mess anything up and I had been scared to do anymore ab work. She said I can't mess it up and that the port probably hit my ribs and that happens a lot. Also I have a 5 year old son who has a port, its up higher and for chemo and has had it for over 3 years. He has a twin brother and you can only imagine what these two have gotten into. Lots of fights and falls, they are typical rambunctious boys and he has had many direct hits to the port. His oncologist says it can take a lot and so far it has.

I am in for 20 pounds!! I have been wanting to try one of these, I am hoping it keeps me motivated!!

I downloaded the app and when I first tried I could not complete it. I have joined the gym and walking on the treadmill for the past month and recently tried it again. I did finish wk 1 day 1 but it was hard. I have trouble with breathing while running but I have improved immensely in the past month. I am determined to do a 5k hopefully by this fall. I am going to give it another month before trying the app again. I am walking/jogging 2 miles in 30 minutes on the treadmill. Hopefully in a month I will have my breathing a little more under control and be able to do it. I just turned 36 and have basically been sedentary for the past 5 years with tons of health problems and I have never been a runner. I currently weigh 229 and was banded 3 months ago. I think you can do it, just listen to your body and if you can't run at all the ques just repeat that day or week until you can. It may take you longer than 9 weeks to complete it but I'm sure once you do you will feel great about it. Also I have not had any feet, back, or knee problems. If those bother you then you may want to wait until you lose more before starting and good shoes are a must. Good luck to you!!

Questions about TT?????
tntbelt replied to forabetterlife's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Congratulations!!! Everywhere I read outside of this forum says that no way insurance will pay for a TT so it gives me hope that my insurance will possible pay for mine when the time comes. I had an on q pump with my lapband surgery. Mine was tubes inserted through a small incision which led to a bag of medicine which was in a zippered pouch that could be hung around your neck or possibly your waist. Mine was a constant drip no button to push, I think it would be better to have a button, the constant drip it leaked and would soak my shirts but it was nice to have and I do think it helped with the pain. Good luck to you!! -
cost of lap band and hiatal hernia surgery?
tntbelt replied to amber22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have any insurance? Because your insurance should pay for the hiatal hernia even if they do not cover lap band or weight loss surgery and should pay for most if not all the pre op testing too. The hiatal hernia could even make the lapband charges less because the insurance would be paying for most of hospital/anesthesia charges etc. The group I used charges 18500 for cash payments for lap band surgery which includes hospital charges. My insurance covered both the lapband and hiatal hernia but they billed my insurance these amounts if it helps.. 13650- Billed day of surgeries (12/17/10) 12,522.25- billed from 12/14-12/17 which is some of the preop testing and surgery day from the hospital 9600- or so from other pre op testing, scopes, counseling, nutrition, surgical consults, etc prior to surgery. Good luck and I hope this helps... -
Congratulations, I am glad you found something you love. Take measurements because you might not always see it on the scale and its nice to see the inches your losing too.

Dr. John Oldham - Dr. Oldham in Etown ?!?
tntbelt replied to Day Dreamer's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
No they don't in their book they say they highly recommended it but they never even "pushed" it on me. They are more about the high Protein low carb diet and that's what they encourage. That was good for me I did shakes and one low carb high protein meal a day. Good luck to you!! -
Dr. John Oldham - Dr. Oldham in Etown ?!?
tntbelt replied to Day Dreamer's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
They were done at the same time, he schedules a scope to check for hiatal hernia prior but then repairs it at the time of surgery. I am not familiar with they type of procedure you had done so I don't know if that's an issue with his group or not. I think they have an office in Louisville also, I know they do surgeries in Louisville their group is called Bluegrass Bariatrics. -
What is your commitment on the gym? Is it possible to find a gym that offers the free classes? I just joined a gym recently and I went a little farther out of the way in order to have the classes. They offer zumba, kickboxing, kicking abs, yoga, etc and included in the membership. I got a discount through our health insurance and its only 25 a month plus I pay 10 a month for daycare and classes for the little ones. I haven't tried the kickboxing there yet but once I drop a little more weight I really want to try it.

I just wanted to tell you good luck and what a great goal to have. I have a 5 year old with cancer so it's always great to see people doing these type of events. I can't wait to be able to do 5k's in honor of my son.

Dr. John Oldham - Dr. Oldham in Etown ?!?
tntbelt replied to Day Dreamer's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
My fills are done in Etown. Their office is off ring road near etown swim and fitness. They do lapband at hardin memorial, gastric or sleeve has to be done in louisville. The hospital was good and I did not have to stay overnight. I was only there a few hours and they had a great staff. Bluegrass bariatrics do charge 500 out of pocket for their program that is not covered by insurance though. 250 is refundable if you are not approved for surgery. I thought it was worth it to stay local and I wasn't sure what the Louisville doctors were charging if any. -
Dr. John Oldham - Dr. Oldham in Etown ?!?
tntbelt replied to Day Dreamer's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I was banded by Dr Oldham in December.. I really liked him and the NP who does the fills afterward is great too. When I was searching I checked them out because they are closer and would be easier for follow up care but was completely ready to go to Louisville if I was the least bit uncomfortable. I attended the seminar with Dr Oldham and I loved him. He was very well spoken but didn't talk over your head and explained things so well and I just felt comfortable with him. He was great during surgery and I had a hiatal hernia repair as well. I was expecting more incisions than I left with but I had 3 incisions in a row across the bottom of my stomach and a tiny one at the top of my stomach. I had surgery on Friday and Dr oldham called me Saturday morning to check on me which was nice and I had a question about the on q pump which he answered for me. I had a question later about the healing of one incision and gave the office a call and they were nice and answered right away. Good luck to you... If you have any questions for me I would be happy to try and answer.. -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
tntbelt replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much.. I am doing well now but I went to the gym Tuesday night and It hurt to even walk on the treadmill. The deep breathing in my chest was painful!! I still was sore yesterday so I stayed on liquids and mush and today back on solids. I have always been a fast eater and I have to really remind myself to slow down and chew chew chew. I have slowed down a lot already but with the last fill I have to be even more cautious. I never realized how painful stuck episodes were going to be.. I guess that will teach me to slow it down and stop shoveling my food Thanks for the tums trick too.. My first instinct is always to try and drink something, I am sure I just make it worse. -
I started going to zumba 2 nights a week 3 weeks after surgery. I just recently joined the gym because it actually ended up being cheaper and they offer free zumba classes there. I was paying $5 a class (40 a month) and the regular gym membership was 50 but through my health insurance we got a discount and I pay 24.99 monthly plus 10 a month for daycare so I don't have to worry about babysitter or weather. You might see if your health insurance or your employer offers discounts to the gym. Once I drop some weight I really want to try the p90x too but right now zumba and treadmill are all I can handle but I know 3 months ago I couldn't have done either so I am happy with the progress so far. Good luck and I hope you figure something out.. I have never been to a gym until recently and I love the way I feel when I am done. It's so nice to have some energy back!!

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
tntbelt replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I freaked out my 5 year old twins today... I had a stuck episode at lunch and ANOTHER at dinner when they were here. That is so painful and I am now a little scared to eat.. I think I am going to go to some shakes and mushies for a day.. The first time I think I was eating too fast, gotta a little stuck but was able to finish my meal. Second time was way worse with only a few small bites. I may have been a little swollen or something from earlier I don't really know what happened. I felt like I couldn't breathe and was well freaking out just a little I have got to be more careful now because I so do not want that to happen again. -

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
tntbelt replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a fill yesterday so now I have 4.5 cc's in my band. I haven't bought any new clothes and have been rolling my jeans at the top and they are still falling off of me. I have been trying to hold out til spring to buy capris but my doctor yesterday said girl I think its time to buy some jeans.. LOL Made me feel good because I hadn't lost that much this much but she said I really need to measure myself but that she was happy with my loss. I joined a gym this week too so hopefully that will help in my weight loss. -
Dr Oldham was my surgeon.. He was really nice and did a great job.
