Just wanted to say hello and good luck on your journey. I am a KY girl too.. I was banded at Hardin Memorial in Elizabethtown.. I hope your approval goes quickly!!

So sore today... I did a 2 hour zumbathon benefit for a little girl with neuroblastama yesterday. I think 2 hours might be a little too much

I met my doctor at the seminar, it wasn't a one on one but I knew I liked him and didn't see him again until I was approved and it was 3 days away from my surgery. Not really the ideal situation but I would have been more uncomfortable if I hadn't at least got to see him at the seminar. I don't know if I will ever even see the surgeon again, the nurse practitioner does all of the fills and I met her on the first intake appt.

I paid a $500 program fee and 250 was refundable if I was not approved for surgery. It was the closest one too me which is convenient for fills and I loved the doctor and staff so I paid it. I really hated paying it since my insurance covered everything 100% and all my deductibles and out of pocket maximums had been met for the year.

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
tntbelt replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get my second fill next week and I hope it helps because I am starting to get discouraged. I am eating a lot healthier and a lot less than before, and I feel 100x better than I did before but I have had no weight loss in a month. I have been going to zumba 2x a week and I know its time to step that up too. I went and checked out a gym yesterday but I am still nervous about going to a gym since I have never been to one in my life and being the big girl in the gym. I worked so hard to get under 240 and it came right back. I know I have been losing inches though because my pants are all falling off of me but that scale is really starting to make me mad Weekly weigh ins: 1/7/2011 246 -9 1/14/2011 242 -13 1/21/2011 242 -13 1/28/2011 239 -16 2/4/2011 242 -13 -
here of of sheer frustration
tntbelt replied to missyt's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your doctor was rude and you were there looking to get back on track and that kind of attitude is not helpful. I'm sure he was trying to be tough hoping to get a commitment out of you but that can backfire. I suggest another doctor or go back in two weeks and make that commitment and prove to Dr. Rude that you can do it!! Good Luck to you and I hope you get that fill!! -

December 2010 Bandsters out there?

I have only had one fill and can eat bread and pasta. I haven't ate sliced bread but toasted breads go down fine. I did however have my first stuck episode Friday. I had a cold coming on but didn't feel bad at all and took two bites of my breakfast and pain in my chest. I waited a few more hours and tried again and the worse pain ever in my chest and then I vomited. The rest of Friday and all day Saturday I stayed on liquids and soups. I basically had no restriction until I got this cold, so just a warning if you get sick be very cautious with your foods. I learned the hard way -
Do you have more restriction when sick???
tntbelt posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Dec 17th and had my first fill on Jan 19th. I have been able to tolerate most all foods including a little bread. Yesterday I could feel a cold or something coming on and couldn't get anything down. It hurt in my chest so I would try later and make sure I was taking small bites chewing well etc. Then it hurt in my chest again so bad and then I vomited. It was horrible, so today I have a full out cold runny nose a little sore throat etc. My chest even feels sore from yesterday's stuck episode. I am scared to eat anything and eating Soups. I had very little restriction before and now I seem to be very tight from this cold. Is this normal when your sick?? -

Thanks, I don't have that much in my band only 3cc's and have had basically no restriction. I am tolerating soups and liquids right now but if it gets worse I will see about getting an unfill. I just never realized that it would be a problem at this point. -

I weigh everyday too sometimes multiple times I know I shouldn't but it seems to be a bit of an obsession right now. I made a spreadsheet on google docs to log my weight weekly. I was banded on a friday so I have been logging weight on Friday. Eventually I will just start logging monthly but right now I like to see what I am doing weekly. -
How long Post Op did you start doing aerobics again?

I had my first Zumba class ever 3 wks after surgery and was fine other than being out of shape and trying to figure out those moves. It didn't hurt my incisions or stomach at all. I probably could have done it in my second week but it was that TOM and I just wanted to make sure I was good and healed because I didn't really know what to expect in the class. By the way I love Zumba it's so much fun!! Good luck!! -
Newly Banded. Any regrets?
tntbelt replied to BASIMAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on Dec 17th and had a large hiatal hernia repair. When I first woke up in so much pain for a split second I thought what the heck have I done. The liquid/strict diets prior and the few weeks following surgery are difficult but it does get much better. I am eating WAY less than I was prior to surgery, making healthier choices and satisfied with my meals. The best part is watching that scale going in the opposite direction than it has been in years. When I started the process I was 267, surgery day was 255 and this morning weighed 238. In my dieting experience, I was always starving and miserable and the scale would barely move and I would give up. Now I am satisfied the majority of the time, have lots of energy and the scale is moving in the right direction. My only regret is that I should have done this sooner. -
My doc required it too and I had a large hiatal hernia and he repaired it and I feel SOOOO much better with that repaired.

What will I physically be able to eat
tntbelt replied to Appmax54321's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You should be able to physically eat any of those things in moderation. I am 6 wks out and the only thing I wouldn't attempt right now would be steak. I have had pizza but only ate the toppings and it satisfied my craving I was having at the moment. I have had a nacho dip but it was only a few chips with it. I am not a beer drinker and have avoided carbonated beverages so far so I can't really say on that. I have seen that there are a few banded people who do still drink beer on occasion on here so that shouldn't be out completely either. But remember everyone's different and can tolerate different foods and different levels of fill. Some people have problems with lots of foods and some can eat almost anything in moderation. I understand your concern because I felt like I was giving up so much because food was sort of a priority in my life. Now it's just my fuel to get through the day and I don't have near the cravings for foods like I used to. -
I dont have a set routine down yet, I was banded 6 weeks ago and have been exercising for about 3 weeks. Right now I am going to Zumba 2 nights a week and using the gazelle 2-3 x a week for 30 minutes at a time. When it warms up I hope to do the couch to 5K. I love the zumba class, it is so much fun and look forward to going every week. My husband is going to start PX90 in March and I don't know if I will be able to do it but I am going to give it a try.

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
tntbelt replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I log my weights on Fridays and I am little disappointed that I didn't lose any this week. I didn't gain so that's a plus but a little disappointed since I really started exercising the past 10 days or so. I have been going to Zumba 2 nights a week and 30 minutes on the gazelle 3 days a week. I just had a fill so maybe that will help, but despite no weight loss this week I feel so much better. I had been so sick with the hiatal hernia and with that repair and the 25 lbs I have lost since my first intake appt. I am feeling great. It is nice to have a little energy back. -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?

I got my first fill yesterday.. She said mushy foods for 24 hours and it wasn't as important the first visit but from now on no food 2 hours before fill. She doesn't want food sitting before the fill. Good luck it was really not too bad at all. Fairly quick visit and the fill was done in a minute or two. -
I had my first fill yesterday and I think it was 3cc's and she said next fill she would go by the routine questions to find out what I needed but she expected to put in 3 to 3.5 ccs which would put me over halfway filled in a 10cc band. She said I most likely not even notice this fill but the next I should expect more restriction. She said they just can't fill you all at once but not to get discouraged. I would expect after that to be much smaller increments if needed to find the sweet spot. Also for the first 90 days fills are free, so I wasn't charged anything for yesterdays fill. That was a nice surprise because I didn't know that before hand.

Absolutely amazing and inspirational!! You look wonderful and congratulations!!

I just had my first fill yesterday and it was not bad at all. She felt around for the port and explained how laying down my port would be below my incision and she gave a numbing shot and then put the needle in. It stung for just a split second but that was it. She pulled back on the syringe to see how much was in there and it also confirms good placement and then put more fill in. She had me take a few sips of water and she said I would have a little gurgling burping but the water should go down with ease and it did. I was told mushies for the next 24 hours. That was it and I go back in a month for possibly another fill.
