I read once that if you got up and marched in place during the comericals of 2 hours worth of TV, you would get enough exercise for the day. When i am really pressed to get the exercise in, I will wait until the kids go to bed and march in place while watching my favorite show. Since most have DVR's and fast forward commericals, I just march during the show. I will mix it up by lifting my arms in the air and bringing them down on to the leg I am lifiting or lunge or do jumping jacks. Some days after doing this I am actually sore!

MUSHIES! What are you eating?
luv2eat replied to emsbugbug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was on mushies, I made home made mashed potatoes made with skim milk, smart balance, a little salt and pepper and low fat cheese (that melted on the hot potatoes) oh my gosh they were so good! I also likes oatmeal and cottage cheese with sugar free strawberry applesauce. -
What am I doing wrong!!?
luv2eat replied to Amanda-7/17/10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am curious about the carb thing too. My nuturtionist said to just eat better choices and smaller portions. She did not say I had to limit carbs. I have wheat toast every morning. I was also told I could have lean cuisines for lunch or dinner. You guys got me second guessing that. -
Wow Congrats! I bet you are rocking those size 10's!!!!!

WOW! That is fantastic! Good for you!

Lost port, need positive feedback PLEASE!
luv2eat replied to Lassen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so sorry for all you are going through. I was banded the same day as you and I would hate to have such a huge set back. I wanted to tell you that when I was first looking into lapband and looking at this site, I read a lot of lapband blogs. I can remeber one who had the same problem as you. She got a terrible infection, had to have her port removed, had a huge painful hole and was on a ton of antibotics. When I read her blog she had lost a lot of weight. I remember the timeline was something like she got banded in oct, had her port removed in nov, was cleared for surgery again in dec/jan when she had a new port put in. When I read her blog it was early summer and she had a lot of success since the port was put in. I would talk with your doctor and I wouldn't take no for an answer. Good luck! Stay strong! -
How soon after a fill do you feel the change?
luv2eat replied to malinda1229's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my second fill on friday and I am now up to 4cc in a 10cc band. I can definately still eat but I get full faster and it last longer. Overall though, it is still not to the point that most people explain. I talked to my doctor yesterday and I said I was fine where I am, even though they would give me a little more. I am afraid of being sick or geting stuck. I figure as long as I am losing, I would rather be a little less full. I feel like I don't feel a change but at the same time I am full longer so there is a change. So who knows. I am still trying to figure this all out! -
Wow, good for you! That is fantastic! I am one pound away from that victory myself! And here's to never ever gain them back!

It's funny because I am not even huingry right now but all I keep thinking is how I need to eat my lunch. food is always on my mind and just before I read this, I thought to myself "you are not even hungry" But yet food is on my mind. Other then the morning I am rarely hungry yet I do eat. I am trying to always make good choices but I do wonder sometimes when the complusion to eat will go and to REAL need to eat will come. Good luck, stay strong!

I am curious as to what everyone eats. I was banded July 26th. I had a good weight loss before and right after surgery but it has been at a stand still for the last few weeks. From my post-op one week appointment to this past monday (4weeks) I only lost 2lbs. When I got weighed Monday I almost cried. I have been what I think to be pretty good. I eat oatmeal or yogurt with lowfat granola for Breakfast, cottage cheese and sugar free applesacue for lunch, a low fat spring cheese for snack and a regualr homecooked low fat dinner (chicken with vegis most of the time) Other times in the past when I dieted, I have never been this good and yet I lost. I am so discouraged. On top of that, I had my first fill and I really don't feel a difference. I feel like I am starving myself for nothing. I mean I went to a party saturday where everyone was drinking and eating and smoking, all things I loved but gave up and for what 2 lbs in 4 weeks?!? Oh right and for my health! haha OH, and I only drink Water. At least 60ozs a day but usually way more. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

? about Cookie Cutter Nutrition
luv2eat replied to hrtgoeson's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am only 3 weeks out so I personally have no experience but I thought I would comment. I have a dear friend who is the ONLY person I know to lose weight with diet and exercise and actually keep it off. She works out hard and she is looks fantastic! She hardly ever eats carbs. She focuses completely on protien. She of course does have carbs in fruit and there is carbs in protien shakes but never ever bread or Pasta. Since like I said I am only a few weeks out I just thought I would throw my little knowledge in that yes I do think that a low carb high protien way is probably the right way. But then again i could be totally wrong! haha -
we also have it at our house. we have wii fit plus and it is fantastic! my husband who is a very active person was even breaking out in a sweat the other day doing it. i like it because on really hot days you can do some exercise from the privacy of your own house. it keeps track of what you do and how much you have burned.

Girl stay strong! I started mine the day I started the 2 week liquid diet and I am a ibuprofen junkie. So not only could I not feed the beast but I could not numb myself either. haha! It was tough! I just dealt with my first "time" post-op and I wanted to eat everything. It was so tough but I made it. I wonder when if ever the cravings stop? Cause the PMS girl in me wants a snickers and I don't think that will ever be on the plan! haha Stay strong and good luck!

Hello! I had my surgery the same day as you and I have definately been feeling emotional. I went out with friends yesterday to see Eat Pray Love and I could have cried the whole movie. It isn't really a sad movie! haha. But it was about a woman going through all these changes and looking for herself and I was just so moved by it. I guess normally I would have eaten and ignored the feelings but now I have to face so much of what I feel. I am so excited about the changes but I'm terrified too. So, anyway it is good to know I am not crazy and now I am going to read the thread waynoo shared. Stay strong!

Oh man do I hear you on this one. I too am three weeks out and have 2 long weeks to go until my first fill AND my doctor is conservative on first fills so who knows how much it will even help! I feel so hungry all the time and I had to do 2 weeks all liquid and I dont remember being this hungry! I think for me though it is a lot of mental stuff too. There was no way i would cheat before the surgery in fear it would some how mess up my surgery but now the surgery is done and I want to EAT! I feel like a failure because I thought weight would be dropping off me by now and I still dont really want to exercise other then walking. BUT this too shall pass and we will get through. Stay strong! Know you are not alone. The two weeks will come and go, heck I cant believe it has alrerady been 3 weeks since my surgery! Good luck! You are doing fantastic!

I noticed we were banded the same day and I had to respond to this post with no help but a big "me too"! I feel like the port pain is worse the anything else I have had to deal with this far. I think it was greatly under-explained how bad it would hurt. Mine hurts all the time. It will even wake me up at night because the shooting pain is so bad. I have no advice and maybe we should both call our doctor but I am personally going to wait until my fill (Aug 31st) and see if it gets better. hopefully, for both of us, it is still our bodies getting use to having a foreign body in it and it will soon get better. good luck!

Just had my first fill, a little bummed....
luv2eat replied to bigpops's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry it wasn't what you had hoped for but hopefully soon you can get another fill and start to feel restcrtion. I am still waiting for my first fill. I am glad I read all of this because it gives me a lot to think about and some good things to know going into my fills. -
You are going to do great! You are aware of your short comings and you are going into this with your eyes wide open. It will be tough but it wil be worth it. I am only just under 2 weeks post-op and I have lost 23 lbs since i started my pre-op diet. I feel great! I know I am going to be successful because I didn't go through all of this to fail. good luck! Stay strong!
-
I agree it is tough but it does prepare you for post-op which is also tough. I know I cried but I look back now and think how glad I am that I didn't give up. It makes me feel so proud and kind of makes me think I can do this! Getting the lapband is just getting an aid to your weightloss. everyday is going to be tough and this (the pre-op diet) in my opinion helps stregthen you for the journey!

My doctor told me I could drink right up until I ate and then not for 30 mins after. A few weeks before surgery i started to do that. At first it felt wierd but I got use to it. Not only will it help push food through right away causing you to overeat because you won't get full but it could make the food mushy and sludge like making it hard to go through and possibly lead to vomitting. I did ask about soup because I love it! My nuturionist said it was ok once in a while but to try to pick one with a lot of good vegis and meat that would help "bulk" it up. good luck to you!
-
Wow, that is fantastic! You should be very happy you are getting it done so quick! I think everyone already covered your questions. I wore comfortable clothes and actually on the car ride home I took my bra off because it hurt! I had lots of liquids and stuff that was approved for post-op. Gas-x strips. You are going to do great! You will be so happy when you wake up and realize it is over. Good luck!

Did you have to do pre-op diet??
luv2eat replied to THEMAXWELLFAMILY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor also requires a 2 week pre-op diet. I could only have liquids. It was tough for the first few days but the whole time it was a reminder of what I was getting myself into and how hard the journey was going to be. Each day I made it closer to my surgery, I felt better about myself and confident that I was going to be successful. I know it was to shrink my liver but it also helped me deal with eating WAY less food. I am now almost 2 weeks post-op and I am glad i had to do the liquid diet because I am use to it. The first week after surgery you can really only have liquids. Which was a piece of cake for me since that is all I had been having. My second week I'm having pureed food. When most people would cry over only having a 1/4 cup of cottage cheese, i am thrilled to eat it. You aren't tight/restricted once you have surgery until your first fill so you have to watch what you eat. Doing the 2 week pre-op diet really helped prepare me for the 5 week post-op wait for a fill. I think you will be glad if you do it at least for a week. Oh and the 23 lbs weight loss sure is nice too!
