Has anyone moved on to soft foods sooner
sagreenia replied to Bander92210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I had my surgery 8-17-10 and i did move up a bit early so I would be able to try new things on the week end instead if a work day my weekly change would have been on tuesdays and I went to sundays. I did that on my own. I did fine to. But I went to mexico and it's hard to get f/u calls answered. So nice to get to the soups it helps alot to feel satisfied. -
Awww!!! Need help choosing a lapband dr in mexico
sagreenia replied to alowe81's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to mexico and had Dr Corvala in TJ. I like him fine and they took very good care of me there. I was well cared for and have not had any problems at all from the procedure. I think that Dr Kuri works at the same facility and they have a less than 1% infection rate in that hospital. That is better than many in the states. I was in hospital 2 days, longer than many in the states. The hospital was very clean and the nurses all did fine by me. The aftercare is non existent though and you must establish with someone at home for follow ups unless you are close enough to go back to them. I think If you use the angeleshealth network thay are pretty darn good and really do cater to americans so they want to do a good job and the surgeon here in my state was trained by Dr Corvala he has done these almost longer than anyone else and is the proctor for allergan, who makes the lap band system. You can hear horror stories from the states as well remember so do your research and do what works for you. -
Getting banded in a week and trying not to freak out. Hi I'm Rose
sagreenia replied to RUMiller's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi rose and all, I was banded 8-17-10 and I did very well, I have healed up well and have lost 21 lbs so far. I had my first fill 9-24 and I was so nervous about that and really nervous about the banding. But it all went well and the pain level was not bad at all. I only needed toradol post op and had no opiates, I liked that because I get so nauseated historically. I was one of those who went to Mexico, because I could not afford it otherwise and I have no complaints at all. I am 56 and my BMI was 44 to start. I am so thrilled I did it but I can plainly see it is a tool and I must use it and do my part,so get ready because it is not a miracle but what a help not to be so hungry and to be able to eat such petite amounts and be satisfied for hours, I love that...:smile2: -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
sagreenia replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi all, I got my first fill this past friday, it was OK, not great but then how fun can it be? I got 1.7cc in my 10cc band. I have noticed that today it seems more restricted than it did yesterday. I know i needed it because the wt loss had really slowed. my surgery was 8-17-10 and I have lost 21lbs but the past week prior to fill, nothing. I was told by my new provider to look for about a 2lb wt loss and if it slows again or about 3 months out I may need another one. Well, that is my update. take care all. -
Having Lap-Band Surgery in Tijuana with Dr. Huacuz
sagreenia replied to ncervantes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I live near Portland OR and I found someone to see me quite easily. the only thing is I would prefer to have flouroscopy for this first fill and won't be able to. She does it once a year as a routine. But I think there are more and more providers at home after Mexico. Just be sure to start looking before you go and be sure you have a plan that will work for you. There are folks I have heard of who have to travel for a few hundred miles to find someone depending on where you live. Good Luck! I am glad I:tt2: did it and I knew going in the f/u appts would be outside my insurance coverage. I resent them for not giving me a choice,it was RNY or nothing,I had to look elsewhere that I could afford. -

sagreenia replied to ncervantes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my band in mexico and saw Dr Corvala. everything went very well and I am healing up fine. my surgery was 8-17-10 in TJ. The only thing you need to know is there is no follow up really and no one answers back my e-mailed questions at all. Finding someone at home to follow you and do fills is going to be a challenge unless you live so close to your mexican provider you can get f/u care there. -
Week 3 Post Op Eating too much
sagreenia replied to pibirdman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All I was banded august 17th and have lost 19lbs, I am getting my first fill on 9-24. I am scared and glad because I am worried all the time about eating to much and having my band slip or something,I eat small amounts but am worried anyway. I have some restriction for sure but not much at all. I hope all is well in my port site and the band is properly placed and all that. Good luck to us all and of course hard work and awareness will help to. -
Thanks you guys I sure appreciate the input. I hope mine goes as well as you two.

90% restricted, not losing weight--anyone else?
sagreenia replied to rbadar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going for a first fill and my surgery was 8-17-10 and my fill is 9-24-10. I have lost 15lbs but none of that in this past week. i have been able to eat real food again now and in small quantities of about 1.5c but I can eat 2 cups of soup now. I think I need that fill and I am going to start back on exercise this week too. I think I am definitely ready for a fill and i am so scared of it hurting because that spot is still tender and i hope everything is healing up right, i hope i would know if my band was slipped or port flipped of any of that kind of stuff. SCARED Maybe you need a fill? -
Big set back, feeling very discouraged
sagreenia replied to 4them's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
4them, You poor dear! What an ordeal for you and your family. May you now heal up quickly and completely and may all you who care for you be bringing only good health to you henceforth. I am having my first fill on 9-24 and I am scared, I hope everything is good inside me, I seem to be healing up easily except for one little spot on my port site incision, one little scab that is still not off and surgery was 8-17. I have been able to eat fine and have had no feelings of being stuck yet, must really need that fill because my wt loss is stuck at 15 lbs. This week i am going to add back some light exercise. -
Two Months Since Surgery So Far So Good
sagreenia replied to cjett's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW you guys make me feel happy! I was bands august 17th so a little over 2 wks ago, I have lost 15lbs and my diet progression is faster, I went to mexico and we are directed to go up from clear liq to full liq then soft food and each week it progresses up. This AM I got up and was was up 1.5 lbs:-( I do not know why but I think it was the soup, to much sodium. Does it everytime for me. I am hoping to find someone for a fill and follow up care here in portland OR area. this is all very encouraging though! -
Hey I sure hope the repubs do not win any control of anything because they are lying cheating scoundrels and they can take Palin and keep her! She is an idiot and not fit for much if you ask me a quitter and golddigger, I saw those polls too and thought who in this country would want to vote for those guys it would be like a dog eating it's own vomit, GROSS!

Hi. I'm new here, banded two days ago
sagreenia replied to Ravey's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I am 56 and was banded on august 17th, I also had a hernia repair and was sore that first week especially and after 2 wks was back to work this week and doing just fine, I wish I would have done it sooner too but am glad I did it now and am hoping to finally get off this 100lbs I need to lose. The average life expectancy for women is mid 80s now days and that means we get a couple of decades to be thinner and maybe even go longer! We may be able to escape diabetes, heart attacks and more joint pains and so on in our golden years so this is going to improve the quality of our lives ladies and gents! hooray! -
Man would I love to go to that march! I just cannot take any more time off right now no matter what. I would dearly love to though.

arcisus don't you read the paper listen to news and radio talk. the reps say it all the time they have wanted him to fail and have stated many many times publicly. she is right on the money here.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
sagreenia replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Dixalee, I was just banded on 8-17-10 so I cannot give advise but do you think you got off track on eating and portions? Need a fill? What do you think it might be? did you stop exercising or anything different? -
Well loserbob we agree on something? very cool, I do also think we should have some kind of special troops or CIA operatives or whatever who could make some headway here! I sure do hope we have them because that is what I have always heard and we ought to have used them from the get go and "get er done" I hate these long drawn out fake wars so many dying and being mamed for life families and children on both sides who really do not want anything but a job and to raise a family and get the kids educated.

Well, it sounds like we should just go into any country we feel needs taken over based on even proven lies and manipulations and just start a slash and burn project. This is all just "collateral damage" right? We can "take over" and then try to sort out what the actual problem is right? We can trust our government to give us a good reason for all this right? We can trust that the military personnel will always know who needs killed right? If we knock of a bunch of civilians well that is the price we pay for being the end all know all country on earth. Oh man if this is how alot of people feel we will never be without war because our decisions apparently should not be questioned or directed. As a nurse I know that each problem must be assessed and once the PROBLEM is established a plan of action is developed and long and short term goals are made, they are revisited closely to see that it is working, then we can heal! Come on certainly we need to do some serious dialogue and compromise to make better plans for war!

Yes that is true there can not be a sure thing in any situation, like, who would have thought that with our power, training money connections and the finest military might on earth, we could not get a bunch of low life saudi terrorists and taken them down like the worms they are. Navy Seals, Green Beret, Elite forces of course the best we have to offer. Yet somehow here we are 10 yrs and countless thousands of lives ended or damaged, there is a chance this will never produce results either it appears. So, is it the best course of Action?

I don't think that if we had evidence and followed the laws of our land we would be worried about these theories. I think we could have done this IF we had been able after almost 10 yrs to to catch them and get them behind bars on put to death or whatever the punishment would have been, we are still trying to get out of Iraq and never belonged there and can't even figure out a goal in afganistan and try and get out of there, but then now we need to maybe run around Pakistan and hunt for the terrorists in the hills there. Maybe if we had kept a strict plan of action and clear goals we could have had the justice we all want. We had the Bush regime with their finger up their A$$ for the most part wasting resources and padding the pockets of their buddies for 8 yrs. THEY ARE THE ONES WHO FAILED YOU.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
sagreenia replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know in the future i would love to have a boob lift when the wt is gone and I will definitely need a tummy tuck, but I kind of am not sure if I would do it because I have heard the recovery for the tummy work is not fun at all. the cost also can be staggering. I am just not sure and since I was banded only 11 days ago, it will not be a worry for quite awhile. But if you want it and your doc thinks it's safe why not if you can afford it... -
Being attacked on our own soil is another nation like say japan did come to our country and attack our military and make a clear intention of War, that is what I am thinking of. 911 was a bunch of saudi maniacs who made a terrorist attack they did not represent another nation with an intention of War. We should have tracked them down, those that lived and thier group of thugs and brought them on trial for the attack and every lost life and damaged life as a result. they should have been tried and found guilty and then been punished accordingly. That is how it works here we should not be a military force that never leaves. All these countries we have had wars with and stayed in have been rebuilt and we stay there for our own interests or we would not be there. That is my opinion and I have a right to it. you guys are welcome to your opinion as well.

I do believe we can have peace again for our country, I cannot speak for every country and I know that some folks just gotta go on killing and mistreating thier own countrymen and women. We sure cannot go and start a war for everybody who is mistreated, Israel is in a hot spot and I know we owe them some support but not when they are unwilling to compromise when it is called for! If we were to go and bomb Iran and Korea when they got out of line, and we are still in japan, germany, eastern europe probably korea, saudi arabia , iraq, afganistan and how ever many other places we have troups and military presence. MY GOD does that not seem a bit like crazy wasteful and the way to eventually destroy our country for the cost and everything this brings? that is the way the Romans bit the dust constant wanting more and being the military power of the world for awhile then gone. I do think we have the right to defend ourselves and our allies IF they are not completely in the wrong and just using us to be bullies themselves. beat those drums for war but I:wink: don't think it will get us what we want in the long run,and our kids will still be fighting for a cause that cannot be identified.
