How do you feel about a mosque at "Ground Zero"?
sagreenia replied to loserbob's topic in Rants & Raves
Really well stated BJean, I think it gives me pause for thought. I guess if I had my way I would think that a mosque located just 4 blocks away is plenty and there is probably another place in the country that could use another religious bldg way more. When religions start to place thier bldgs for political impact or to make a point just shows what thier agenda is and it is not a place of worship where it is needed or serves the people who like to go there. -
Well, I know those kinds of stories happen all the time and you would see it alot more than i would being in CA and ER work. I live in oregon. I just think we should be very careful about cherry picking cases without them being looked at, there are always people without representation that get abused. I just feel that we must preserve the laws that are not being followed and if they don't work fix them. I think people who win thier cheating cases don't get millions even if they ask for millions. But if I make 50k a year and suffer an injury or get disabled from a malpractice act I should be able to get 10-15 yrs of wages and medical coverage for that and that is just the begininng of the financial damages. then there is the damages that cannot be counted in $ but that is all we have in the way of compensation.

Tort reform is not necessary, we have all the rules and regs we need on this subject and if a doc takes off the wrong leg or a wrong kidney is removed, well I think I should have the right to sue his insurance for damage. Limiting people in amounts that they can sue for is just unreasonable, we have a jury who can look at these cases and hand down reasonable pay outs and the ones who have obviously mistreated the public and lied to them, they deserve to be taken to the cleaners, like cigarette companies who spent years decieving the public and big oil lying and paying off government officials to sink poorly designed oil wells etc... sue them til they sink! I am in medicine and have been for 30 yrs as a nurse I have been to 2 depositions, it's sad when people try to launch thier lives on the backs of decent Dr's and health care organizations that don't deserve it,but that is not the norm from what I have seen. If they deserve it they should pay and that is why the insurance companies should be looked at closer, they are often the scoundrels for charging so DANG high all the time.

How do you feel about a mosque at "Ground Zero"?
sagreenia replied to loserbob's topic in Rants & Raves
For the record I always question religious ideals because so many are not for real just for hire and keep people by fear and fairy tales. Whether it is a mosque or temple or church. I alwaus wonder about people who say Oh they come here to breed and don't speak english and live off our services and take our jobs. Well, who do you think is picking your fruits and veg? who is plucking your chickens making your taco? the reason it is immigrants is because they went there for a job and got one, alot of americans think they cannot or would not do this dirty work and so they do not take those jobs. i recently went to mexico for a surgery yep lap band and my own insurance did not cover it. I did not speak thier language and they did not speak mine but way more of them spoke english and we sure did not know any spanish! this is just plain old arrogance Murpel. I was given very good care and treated with caring kindness. there are experts everywhere and we have had many people come here for all of our history and they usually brings thier skills and a great work ethic, don't listen to propaganda about any one different than you. -
I see that you have some concerns about "wealth redistribution" that is such a buzz term and really silly. I happen to also work for Kaiser and have for 13 yrs and love it! We give good care and every one i work with is pretty happy including Dr's. it is not perfect by any stretch but we all do our level best to provide good care. I know alot of people feel differently than I do but the one thing we all have in common is a love of country and other Americans. I would do anything to keep our country safe and living in peace and I just don't beleive the republicans know what they are doing, they are so for the rich and the big business that may give them a great job or something when they leave congress or whatever. The democrats do it too. that is why I went independent. In the end us folks in the middle want to same thing a great place to raise kids and home to live in when old and feeble and healthcare for all. We deserve it and We should really make some hard changes to accomplish these basic care needs. The rich need to have that tax cut ended and our government needs to GET BUSY and get it done.

I am happy to say I will never assume that we must "nuke" other human beings, I have had 3 nephews in these wars and thank god none have died or been mamed, one is still in the service and is a lifer. I have great respect for those who join the service and dedicated thier lives to the service of our wonderful country. But I do not beleive we need to solve all the worlds problems because we cannot. somebody wise said "speak softly and carry a big stick" If we are attacked on out own soil we must fight to the death for our country. Before Israel decided to not share with the Palistinians somewhere to live and trade and exist they should have really thought of the consequences. They were all there and need to be sharing some space to those people. Iran well, I don't necessarily think we need to blast them and the koreans either. We are the ones who started this crap with nukes and atomic bombs and so on, we have to take some blame here for our reckless attitude. I think you all are so mad that President Obama won and just cannot get over it. I wanted health care reform and wish it would have gone further but we will take what we get on our way to a good socialized model. I am talking about basic health care not foolish wasted dollars health care. I am proud of our President's work so far and nothing you all say will sway me. I work for kaiser myself and I think we do a great job for our members. I am also a union member and am proud of that as well. I still say we can have a peace in the world someday and that is my daily prayer for us all. I am not a wacko religious freak either I am a buddhist. I have never collected one dollar of unemployment thankfully for my family but if I needed it I would and I would hope some kind of healthcare would available to my family. Those are social programs I believe in like social security, food stamps, and housing for the very poor and elderly care and help. If we cannot do that in thiscountry with some of those tax dollars what is this all about? keeping the rich rich? BULLSH!!T. I also give to some charities and i know some very wealthy people do as well, they are no worse for the wear. Just how much do some think they need?

How do you feel about a mosque at "Ground Zero"?
sagreenia replied to loserbob's topic in Rants & Raves
I am not saying I think it should be placed there, I do not care where they put it, I only care that it is a real place of worship and promotes peace and support to those who attend. I think all this negative attention works against us. I am one who would attend a buddhist temple if anything. -
Liquid Tylenol and Liquid Advil where do you buy it???
sagreenia replied to losethemess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We have a store here in my town called fred meyer and they sell a kroger brand liquid childrens tylenol. I have to take 4 tsp to get 650mg. it is bubble gum flavored and there are no sugar free types, it tastes so sweet! but that is what I have used, you go thru that little bottle pretty fast too, I only used 2 doses a day and yesterday was my first day of nothing needed! I was banded 10 days ago. So far down 14 lbs, WOW. -
Oh yea loserbob and the rest of you more war and more killing is the answer, just go to a place you think just every last person is out to get america and blast them all! I am disgusted that we have not had more women around the world involved in real peace keeping and improving the lives of human beings and we left it up to the men, see what has happened? bigger bombs, of course you can buy one yourself and be a maniac because we left men guarding the damn things! I really just hate your stupid fear mongoring and hoping for more wars and death, ICK!!! I know alot of people at my job and they are from all over the world they all want what we want, to raise our families and see them be happy and productive, not overseas getting killed and mamed.

How do you feel about a mosque at "Ground Zero"?
sagreenia replied to loserbob's topic in Rants & Raves
WOW, loserbob, I cannot believe the vile attitude you have toward a whole huge group of people! I really do not care if or where they build the mosque. those that died at 911 are to be honored every year and thier families will honor them and miss them forever. We can honor them no matter where we are and the place is immaterial that is not holy ground. The last time I was at pearl harbor I was there with many japanese that day side by side. If you think death and loss is one sided you are really in need of some sunday school lessons. Many families from many parts of the world have suffered horrible loss with all these bush/cheney inspired wars. killing and shooting each other is a piss poor way to problem solve and if you were a soldier that is very scarey! -
That is Ok BJean I don't like not being a democrat anymore but I guess I am hoping to find a place of honesty in politics, and you go Cleos mom very good work there and all so true. We must all be vigilant and vote and I wish we were heard as loudly as the tea party, maybe some of those heinous signs? Oh no I could never think of a sicker more juvenile way to state your views than racist sick ignorant signs that those folks make and carry.
-
I should say I used to be a democrat and got sick and tired of them making promises they did not keep, getting control of washington and then not getting it done! I still have almost never voted republican and guess I am just a pissed off democrat but could not even venture to vote republican unless some one like Tom McCall of oregon came back to serve. so that is why i am still an independent, but even that pisses me off because I would like to be a proud democrat again.

Ariscus99, I think I see that you are a conservative pretty clearly and against medical care for all in this country. I have been a nurse for 30 yrs, i have worked in many different specialties and currently am in a large HMO. I have to say I am for socialized medicine hands down. I feel that we could provide everybody basic health care much more affordable than the current system of "just show up at the ER" after things have gone to far. If we paid for yearly preventative physicals, mammography, cholestesterol screenings, BP and pulse checks and get to those who have preventable illness or find problems early. This would save us all money! Also mother baby care and those who are disabled need to have regular health screenings. I think that we just cannot go wrong by doing this. Look at what has happened to youngsters in school when we allowed big business in the set up mcdonalds and taco bell in schools and decided PE was to expensive to keep for the kids? It would have been so much better to have excellent healthful cafeteria's in schools and push for PE and sex education in schools? these poor kids have suffered. Socialized programs that serve the public as a whole are much better than waiting until folks are sick and disabled and then trying to make lame excuses why we cannot help them because oh my it is "socialism". This is America and we can afford to do this once we clean up after the republican mess of the past 25-30 yrs of damage. The gap between rich and poor is just shameful and we all need to remain vigilant until we can get back on track but we don't abandon our own. I am an independent and have been for many years I am conservative about some issues fiscally but really none socially.

Me too, Gabwil, i amd awestruck by how little I need to eat to be full, 1/3 to 1/2 cup, still on week two mine was on aug 17th. I am doing very well healing nicely and I guess i am in the honeymoon phase and so excited to get on with it. I am back to work on Monday the 30th. take care all! -
Hi, I had mine 8 days ago, I went to mexico and was in hospital for 2 days. I had no nausea and my pain was well controlled with toradol. I spoke to my anesthesiologist about my fear of post op nausea and he gave me something and it worked well. I have been sore but within 4 days I am using childrens tylenol and it is working fine. Be sure you are nothing by mouth the night before and follow that to the letter, the pre op diet does help to lose a quick 7-10 lbs and that helps make room in there for the surgeon too.Follow the diet progressions after wards and you will do great!

sagreenia replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lizalee, Thanks for replying to a total newbie, I know you sound like someone who is going to get back at it. I know I am in for the battle of my life, I have fought fat since I was a teenager, like so many others I lost and gained and lost and gained and then about age 35 it was only gaining, My top wt was 268 at surgery 236, I am 5'1 and so its more than 100 over. I know it will be easy at first and then may get so hard to maintain or lose. I explored RNY but just could not do that for me. I commend you for stepping up again and will send positive vibes your way for you to live your best life. keep in touch and may the road rise to meet you. -
Does anyone get really sick after surgery?
sagreenia replied to Ambroshaangel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to suffer terrible nausea after surgery, back when i had my babies c-section and other stuff, but since then I always tell the anesthesiologist to please help me out and he does I did not have any at all after surgery 8 days ago, I still have not had any since banding. They have some great meds now and can really make the difference. Just follow all the directions and you will do well. -
What did I do wrong?
sagreenia replied to MediaGurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
today is my 8th day post op and am on the mushies phase, I have had no trouble with yogurt, but I use homemade and add a teaspoon of strawberry preserves to sweeten it. I do have a bit of trouble with the protein shakes being so heavy in the stomach. I really have to take about 30 min to get anything down I use a baby spoon to be sure I am not going to fast. Very cold water seems to sit right in my throat like a bubble, i do better if it is not to cold. Maybe the whips yogurt has to much air in it? -

sagreenia replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
WOW lizlee, I just got my band 7 days ago and am healing and back to work next week. I am still basking in the glow of how little one can get along on for food. I am trying to feel what full is now before going to far. Right now I can eat about 1/3c of mushies, then trying to wait an hour to start fluids till the next time I am hungry, and that is about 5 hours later, but hunger also feels different more like a noise than a real hunger pain. I know for me the automatic triggers to eat and the general feeling of boredom make me eat, so being off work well some drawers are getting cleaned and clothing culled. I guess your going to have to sit yourself down and have a serious talk with yourself. Or take Oprah's advise and go stand in the mirror naked and make a decision. I have never done that but I saw it yesterday while cleaning them off my DVR. I guess I am willing to try anything. -

Hello, I am 6 days post banding and am on full liquids now, I am doing fine and am wondering when to start exercise back other than walking and light housework at this point. I used to ride my recumbent bike 20 min and do stretching and floor exercise each 3X wkly. Will it be a whole 6 wks? I also had a hernia repair, and he said it was not a small one either. -

Hey Lisa A, just keep chugging along with lowering your calories some and some kind of exercise and you will get there. It took me almost 2 yrs to make this decision and I too am always scared to go under during surgery, it is such a black place to be and no memory except to wake up in pain. Here's something I learned today, I have had two of those unjury protein shakes one today and one yesterday, I had been putting them in the blender with ice and that puts alot of air in them, so frothy and lovely, BUT sure adds air and then I have suffered with gas and some pressure, had to take the gas x and walk, I will not do this anymore, I have a shaker coming in the mail and will just shake to avoid that added air. Those shakes are pretty good for what it is but they make me feel so darn full! -

Hey Lisa I was banded in mexico as well and had Dr Corvala at Tijuana I feel it was good care and I did just fine,I was glad to have my husband along he was so helpful to me,waited on me the whole 2 days. I took very little in the way of things for a 2 day trip. left all jewelry off and took a light bathrobe and nighty. I had great pain relief and no nausea, but I spoke to them about this repeatedly knowing myself well. I wore a big lose dress home to fly and that was a good choice I always need a sweater on a plane and some folks really need a travel pillow to buffer the seat belt against the stomach area, also a nice stretch type bra as there is an incision right there in front under that bra line. The incisions are up high not down lower on the abdomen. I am so glad I am now on full liquids and feeling so much more satisfied. I am down 10 lbs from the pre op diet to now,but I have alot of belly swelling still. Gas pains are off and on still but easily handles with walks and gas-x and only liquid tylenol for pain. Incisions are healing fast to. -

Hi All, I was banded 8-17-10, also had a hernia repair. i am doing fine so far and today i just had to eat something besides clear liquids, I had 1/3 cream of wheat and 1% milk. Then for lunch i had butternut squash soup about 1/3 cup. it was wonderful! I am now supposed to try getting the added protein drink this week. Is that to be a meal? I love hot food and it satisfies me for much longer mentally than cold stuff. I think I will try it and have bought samples of unjury protein suppliment. I would like to have a mentor and have posted here and there on this site,it is a great help to read them and to have the interaction with others in the same place so to speak. -
Three days post surgery, and I'm freaking out...
sagreenia replied to MediaGurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery 8-17-10 and told my anethesiologist about how easy I get nauseated and to please help with that going in, I have not had any at all and have only been given toradol for pain the whole way thru, now I am using children's liquid tylenol and that is working fine. I also had a hernia repair done. I know for me the narcotics always make me so sick, goody for toradol.
