Maybe your PCP will back date a couple of months on the flow charts, which will get you a couple of months ahead. -
6 Month Diet Plan
mentalistfan replied to shardy727's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will count...when I contacted my surgeons office someone mailed me papers to fill out and the six month flow charts to go ahead and start those with my PCP, I even had my chest x-ray, labs, and EKG before my seminar. I live in WV also, hello and hope we talk again, you are fine! -
I had a 40 % off coupon and I knew I didn't have any "smaller" size jeans, so I found a cute pair on sale and used the coupon and got a size 14 for motivation. I wear a 20 comfortably now and it's been since 2004 since I wore a 14. My nutrition class is scheduled for May 19, then my paper work will be submitted for approval, it's getting closer.

mentalistfan replied to renagirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your insurance will say what their requirements are...usually a BMI of 35 with certain other problems, without problems a BMI of 40 -
Anyone getting sleeved in July or August? Looking for buddies!
mentalistfan replied to abbyfran7's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I should have surgery around that time, the last thing on my list is a nutrition class on May 19, then after all my paperwork is gathered it will be submitted to insurance for approval. I will add you as a friend. I weigh about 239 lbs but I'm short, 5-2 -

Overeating before surgery
mentalistfan replied to yasmineSF's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Me and my friend are both going through the steps to get sleeved...we both think, I better eat this now because soon I won't be able to...so you are not alone. -
I was just telling my friend, who is getting sleeved also, that I know I will have to have the right food in the house so it will be easier. It's good that I realize to be as prepared as possible. Tomorrow is a new day, just remember why you did this and you will be fine, we are human! God Bless!!!

My NUT got into my head!
mentalistfan replied to katt1584's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How can I say this...for some reason there is always one or two people that has a "different" personality in the crowd, and it's just who they are and we're not going to change them. You are doing great! If I lose 55 lbs. in three months I will be ecstatic! -
Can you live off just Protein Shakes & Vitamins?
mentalistfan replied to Hoginona04's topic in The Guys’ Room
I think you still would need foods with natural potassium, iron, vitamin D etc. -
Pain in my left calf
mentalistfan replied to MichelleBryant's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would get it checked. Also, I know you didn't ask but I want to share things you can do to try to prevent clots...stay hydrated as possible, walk walk walk, and point your toes and flex throughout the day. A trip to the ER might be needed, it's nothing to play with, they can do an ultra sound and there is also a blood test that is not 100 percent accurate but is still a good indicator of a clot, God Bless!!! -
No order to do pulmonary or gastrointestinal. ..
mentalistfan replied to msjoy83's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Correct, my insurance required nutrition class, BMI requirement of 40 or higher unless I had something like diabetes, a psych evaluation and of course the surgeon is going to need lab work, EKG, and chest x-ray. If older than 50, my surgeon requires a stress test. -
No order to do pulmonary or gastrointestinal. ..
mentalistfan replied to msjoy83's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a gastrointestinal test and I did have a sleep study because my PCP ordered it thinking I would need it but my surgeon didn't require those tests either. -
I didn't have to have anymore tests, thank God!!! But I do have an appointment with the nutritionist May 19...after that, all my information and test results will be submitted to insurance. But the appointment started out by me getting a "before picture", then getting my blood pressure, weight, and height, with no shoes (which made me shorter by 1/2 inch and made my Bmi go up lol), then I stood on a scale looking thing and held a pole type thing in each hand and it printed off all kinds of wild information like, how any calories I burn on a typical day without exercise, just at rest...it even told how much my right arm, left arm, right leg, left leg, and trunk weighed. I was told by the nutritionist who came in my room for a few minutes that 100 to 105 lb weight loss would be right for me. Then the Dr. came in and said that the sleeve is the surgery he would also recommend for my size...he listened to my heart, my pulse in both sides of my neck, he examined my stomach for hernias and where the incision sites would be, and he checked my ankles. I will have a two day liquid diet before surgery. I will have a drainage tube. He didn't foresee me having problems. I'm hoping my insurance is approved by mid June and surgery is scheuled no later than August 1 because I want to be feeling better by the time my daughter goes back to school August 20! I will update...everyone take care and God Bless!!!

Right now I'm going through the necessary tests to be approved. I'm not sure when I will have surgery...may not be until October although I hope this summer. I would like to have someone to talk to. Thanks!

Lovenox injections after surgery!?!?!?
mentalistfan replied to Time4Kindness's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me today that he didn't see the need, to walk and I shouldn't have a problem. -
It's looking like I won't need the six month diet...here's what we are doing, I'm going to get my flow chart/weigh in for May, and everything but my flow charts will be sent in to see if I'm approved without them because the way it looks my insurance quit requiring them, BUT, just in case they deny me, my ace inthe hole will be me having three flow charts and I will just do the other three and then resubmit for approval. My nutrition class is scheduled for May 19, so then it gets submitted to insurance. I hope I made sense, I'm tired lol.

I have BCBS of IL and I'm not required as much as a lot of people on here from their insurance. I would say you will hear something within two weeks, maybe ten days. You will be scheduled according to how busy your surgeon is. Let us know, God Bless!!!

No, but that seems accommodating!
