What reasons did you not want weight loss surgery...did she have complications, gain the weight back? I think the sleeve is a safer surgery than bypass with no malabsorption issues, good luck and let us know how you progress, God Bless!!!

Introductions & important question - surgery without support
mentalistfan replied to efierke's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
During the psych evaluation I was asked if I had support, so it's important. Some people are head strong and don't need as much support as others. We all need to be prepared as possible...we need to have Faith we will succeed, God Bless!!! -
I hear about some people having a little head problems losing weight...I would think that would be the best part...I'm Pre-sleeve

I had to explain the surgery to her, what I knew was required of me after surgery, was I willing to exercise, have I ever been suicidal, why I'm wanting surgery...and answered some questions on paper

I would like input about sleep apnea
mentalistfan posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Let me give you a little background...I have had all Pre-op testing done that my surgeon requires, tomorrow is my nutrition class, once all info is gathered I was going to have everything submitted to insurance. I was hoping for an August surgery date. My BMI is over 40. My surgeon did not require a sleep apnea study! However, my PCP wanted me to have one and I did, I got the results Friday, I have moderate sleep apnea. Sooooo, since my surgeon doesn't require the test, is it possible they just monitor everyone close during WLS and this won't set me back? What exactly does the anesthesiologist need to know? Like specific things or just that you have sleep apnea? If my PCP didn't send me for the study, I would have been put to sleep without knowing, I was just wondering if it makes a big difference, I don't need a comorbidity because of my BMI, thanks for any insight you can give me! -

My appointment to sleep with the CPAP is July 1, I guess it's to see what it will be set on for me. So, just get the machine and tell the anesthesiologist that I have a machine, take it with me to surgery, and let them know what it's set on? -

Not question about sleeve just overweight question
mentalistfan posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't notice this when I weighed 170 lbs. but the more I've gained I've noticed the right side of my body (stomach area) is way bigger...more rolls, has anyone else noticed a big difference? Even my bra side fat -

I haven't been sleeved yet...if I take turns standing sideways in a mirror, it's very noticeable my right side is fatter, without clothes obviously, but I even have more fat in the right side of my bra around the side...hopefully as I lose weight it will start to even out! -

Maybe I shouldn't be reading so many posts
mentalistfan posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel like I want to know what to expect so I won't freak out over everything after surgery. But, it scares me to see so many problems people have. I would say most Pre-op people have similar WANTS: lose weight, more energy, prevent certain diseases or stop certain conditions etc. It's scary to think I could be miserable after surgery when all I want is to be better. I have had 7 surgeries, so I know about abdomen pain and gas, of course I haven't experienced gastric sleeve...I don't wanted be dehydrated or nauseated for two months, not saying I will, but I have "read" where people have. I have stayed away from the camera for years, like most of you, here lately I've been letting myself be photographed so I would have "before" pictures, pictures don't lie, I'm huge, I need this surgery so bad. Anyone who is a Christian, please pray for me, for us all. Can anyone relate? Thanks, and God Bless!!! -

That's true, we shouldn't wonder what if...it's time to have Faith everything will be alright. If I'm going to do this, do it right! Learn what I need to do and be determined to do it! Thanks everyone! -
I have not been sleeved but I have heard of this...don't worry excessively about it, I would say its temporary...as you start losing weight and exercising you will feel great, God Bless!!!

If i only know getting sleeve was so painfull
mentalistfan replied to tarbaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You probably won't feel that way in a week or so. Your body will heal and the pain will go away. -
I haven't had surgery and yes I think of things. Not the surgery itself, just adjusting to life after. I'm hoping and praying I'm not one to get nauseous a lot and I have good mental thoughts along the way.
-
Of course...there's the feelings of what if I'm miserable and regret this surgery, what if I have complications and then there's, I can't wait to lose 100 lbs. and be able to move around and enjoy life again!

Schedule NOW or Schedule Later?
mentalistfan replied to CeeBa's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Me personally, I am not planning on traveling after surgery for a little while. I want to baby my new sleeve the first six weeks. I don't want to be confused about making the right choices going out. I think it would be easier to follow my diet at home. But, that's me. -

Definitely see your surgeon, ASAP, if it's deep, it needs closed, it's not healed. -

My nutrition told me that 100 to 105 lb. loss would be good for me and I agree. I weigh 239 lbs. but I'm only 5ft 2
