    Protein

I think you are going to HAVE to get some protein in!

    And so it begins!

One thing is for sure, surgeons require different things...I'm required labs, chest x-ray, EKG, sleep apnea study, nutrition class and psych evaluation. I hear some people getting scoped and stress tests. You will get weighed, find out BMI and Pre- op diet information probably, God Bless!

    Insurance question/issue

I'm confused on why a GI Dr. Is telling you what you need...not sure what a GI Dr. is unless a stomach Dr. You should have called your insurance and talked to someone from the surgeons office on things they both require.

    Insurance question/issue

Ok, I have talked to my insurance company about eight times and forwarded an email to the surgeons office and the insurance coordinator wouldn't get on the phone...I can't make these people believe me! So, I emailed straight to the insurance coordinator today...I feel like I'm going to make her mad but it's all in black and white, she needs to quit acting like a know it all....my insurance company abolished this criteria a little over a year ago. I'm doing all I can and trying not to make them hate me in the process. Next step if I don't hear from her...tell the Surgeon on my visit! I'm still going to get the flow charts just in case, I don't want to start over.
  5. Why are you having WLS? Health reasons only...honestly, I'm doing it mainly because of health and I am looking forward to my big stomach shrinking and getting rid of my double chin, not going to lie! My knees are feeling it and I don't hardly ever buy myself clothes because I don't feel like anything looks good.
  6. Maybe I will jam out to Pharrell on my way to have surgery! LOL. Congrats!

Congrats, it's been since 2005 for me and I'm looking forward to being under 200 lbs. again!

    Insurance question/issue

I'm aggravated too, but I'm not going to let it stop me. I called my insurance company first to see what I needed. But, the surgeons insurance coordinator acts like I got the wrong information. I have went to the seminar, got my EKG, chest x-ray, labs, and saw my PCP for a letter of recommendation and my first weigh in and flow chart. The part that bothers me is my insurance says I don't need the six month flow charts! I go for psych evaluation on April 30 and see the surgeon...I'm going to take documentation with me...I want my surgery over the summer while my daughter is on summer break. My insurance got rid of the six month rule over a year ago and I don't want to wait if I don't have to.

    Just devastated

That's just weird! Why another facility? Did he give a recommendation?

Stop the Whining Over A Few Miserable Days!

I know people who were nauseous for two days and then basically no problems, no regrets...but if someone is real sick and not feeling like they are progressing, they would like some support. I'm sure they researched like most everyone else, but unless YOU are the one going through it, it seems less important. Let's try to be supportive of each other.

    Normal AND goooooal!

Thank the good Lord, I've found someone who got to goal weight and didn't have a bad report about their hair!!! Did you do anything special that helped your hair, any tips would be appreciated!
  14. I didn't think about the 35 BMI, which could be making the difference!

    Just startin'

I'm hoping to get sleeved in July but I don't have a date yet either. I've had my labs, EKG, chest x-ray, went to seminar...my psych evaluation is scheduled for April 30... Maybe we will be sleeve around the same time!

    Pre-op diet in the mail?

I have never heard of this...

    EGD?

I'm not required by Surgeon or insurance
  19. My friend had surgery on Friday and is doing pretty well. He is already back in WV and doing fine. It was cheaper in TN...his surgeon was Dr. Wayne Westmoreland in Murfreesboro, TN, my friend had only good things to say about him!
  20. I haven't been sleeved and this discussion makes me wonder if I will be afraid to drink too much at first in fear of stretching my new small stomach...is there a definite way to know you shouldn't try to drink anymore? And how long after do you try to drink again?

    Hair loss?

My hair is not real thick to begin with so it's a concern of mine. I have several friends who had the surgery and they thinned a little, but not dramatic. One friend started taking Biotin two months before surgery and her hair is so thick now, a year after surgery. Some people will tell you Biotin doesn't work, but it won't hurt either. I'm going to massage my scalp daily to promote circulation. None of my friends had bald spots or anything. God Bless!!!
  22. I'm going to have to see what's in it because I can't take certain herbal supplements with medicine I'm currently taking
  23. I wrote this down, thanks!
  24. Why didn't your nutritionist not tell you about the Pre-op diet? That should have been discussed!
