    I would like a mentor

Thanks, my appointment with the surgeon is tomorrow! I still need my nutrition class and that should be it unless he wants me to have more tests. I will update and add you as a friend!

    Morning ~ Sleeved 3/17/14

How in the world did you go from a size 24 to a size 16 by losing 29 lbs? That's like a size and a half for me lol. I am short, five feet two, my weight is about 238 and I wear a 20 comfortably. To be in a 16 I would probably have to weigh about 195-200 lbs. 29 lbs. lost is good, I'm looking forward to losing!

    Death

There were a lot of people who have died from gastric bypass but I do not hear about it with the sleeve...but you could die from having any surgery. Do you know what her complications were after having the sleeve surgery?

    Raging against a Regain

I think it's stress, not enough sleep, and could be the birth control pills. Let's be honest, you are doing great, but you do have to stay on course the rest of your life. If you can afford it, go get a massage or something you would find to help relieve stress! God Bless!!!

    What to have at home?

House shoes or slip on shoes in case you are too sore to bend over. I agree with flavoring for Water. Have your house clean before going to hospital and have laundry caught up. Jello, Popsicles, and yogurt.

    SCHEDULED!

My Dr. only requires certain people to do a Pre-op diet, I don't know if i will be on one or not, and he's at a Center of Excellence and I know several of his patients and they have done great!

    BCBS of Florida

If you couldn't gain at all, and one month your weight is 390 lbs. and the next month you are 396 lbs. they can deny you. It's not the same insurance but my friend's nephew gained weight during Christmas and his insurance stopped him and said he would have to start over on his monthly weigh ins. I hope I'm wrong and it doesn't come down to that for you, God Bless!!!

    Finding an after-care physician

You could get care here but I heard that your insurance doesn't have to pay for it if they didn't pay for the surgery, but i don't know for sure.
  13. I take Lexapro and was wondering what kind of protein shakes you drink? There is an amino acid, tryptophan, that is not supposed to be taken with anti-depressants. I'm trying to find the protein shakes that have the least amount of tryptophan, thanks.

    Got my date- June 30th!

I would love for that time, but I'm not sure yet. I have an appointment Friday with the surgeon and I might get a date then. All I know for sure that I need is my nutritrition class. You will feel amazing by Christmas! God Bless you!!!
  15. I will, but that's what compression stockings are for...as soon as my friend was admitted for the blood clot on her lung they put the stockings on her as soon as she got there. That's news to me, but I will ask because I'm not a Dr. Thanks

    Anti-depressants and protein shakes

Your answer was basically what livestrong.com. said too. My appointment with the surgeon is Friday, and I'm sure he has countless people on anti-depressants. Thank you so much, it was nice to find someone with knowledge in this area! God Bless!!!
  17. My friend wasn't, but I would give them to myself after surgery if my Dr. will give them to me. I'm trying to take care of myself to the best of my knowledge, that's why I'm getting compression stockings to wear at night!
  18. My friend was hospitalized 2 1/2 weeks after surgery for the same thing. I plan on wearing compression stockings at night for about six weeks to be on the safe side.

    so sad :(

I agree with Linda...sometimes it's just something that we can't even point a finger at...one time in my life I was so depressed and losing weight or winning the lottery wouldn't have helped, but I had clinical depression. As far as losing weight, you are doing great. Exercising and getting sunshine could improve your mood. Watch a comedy or hang out with your funniest friend! God Bless!!!

I don't know if it's right for me

Hi, I'm in WV also, I do not binge eat but it is talked about (asked about) during your psych evaluation in case you decide to have the surgery. I might not understand everything but I'm here to listen. Send me a message anytime! God Bless!!!

    Anti-depressants and protein shakes

Finally, someone who knows about this...so even if tryptophan is listed as an amino acid in the shake, it should be alright?

    Antidepressants

I have read where several people on this site take antidepressants and so do I. I read maybe too much, but there is something that we shouldn't take and it is called tryptophan. It is in food and multi vitamins. I know we aren't supposed to take the vitamins that have this in it, I was wondering if anyone felt jittery or any difference after drinking protein shakes or protein bars? Tryptophan is in whey protein and I think all protein drinks, even if it's not listed. Any advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
  24. I was looking online the other night to find affordable compression stockings to wear at night for about a month after surgery. I found out today a friend who was sleeved April 14 is hospitalized with a blood clot on her lung, sooooo, I'm really thinking I need these now, is anyone else plan on being pro-active and going to wear them, or did you wear them after surgery?
  25. mentalistfan

    Compression stockings

No, I am going to be sleeved at a different hospital. The stockings won't hurt, so I might as well order them if the surgeon doesn't give me a pair. I know I have to walk, but it would ease my mind.
