  1. I know this sounds crazy but when I had my band put in in 2008~ I wore ankle weights under my jeans to push me the 5 pounds to where I didn't need a co-morbidity to qualify...
  2. I haven't told anyone but the co-worker that took me to the hospital. I have been going to weight watchers since Jan ~ It's amazing how NO ONE has had a negative thing to say... when I had the lap band back in 2008 it was constant justification of why I had surgery~ no regrets and down 80 lbs since April...
  3. I am trying to eat lunch at my desk and sitting here looking at a lean cuisine meal I brought from home- still amazed that I can't eat it all! Down 52 pounds since surgery (band to sleeve) [emoji4] makes me happy that I can eat a normal portion and be satisfied.... and eat a microwaved dinner (lapband would not tolerate the chicken)

Band to sleeve success stories, please.

Band to sleeve conversion in April~ down 60 of 100 pounds and love it- it might be a little slower than virgin sleepers but it's coming off and it wasn't before- my surgeon has no doubt will get to my goal. It's really different than the band though- full is a completely different feeling. I also log everything and eat 60-80 grams of protein a day. Good Luck! So worth it!
  5. I wouldn't head to the ER unless you have symptoms of issues- if you were to have a leak~ break a suture/staple~fever, severe pain, and high heart rate would be the first sign of leakage into the gut- But you need to stop the behavior and follow the plan. Throw out the chips and candy out now! Stay on Liquids and let your body heal- if you feel the need to eat solids- put your shoes on and walk around the block- sip on your water [emoji4] just don't do it!
  6. Consequences- popped sutures and staples. Solid food getting stuck in the staple/suture line... just a few... honestly you are the only one that can control your behavior. I would write out a structured liquid meal plan of when and what you are going to eat each day and follow it.
  7. I am almost 2 months out. I had a band from 2008 until 2013... successful with it - lost 120 pounds and kept 100 off through out having it... then it just shut down- no slip or erosion - dr said scar tissue- took it out and well old habits crept back in. 4 years later~ sleeve...So my experience with the sleeve is that full is a completely different feeling and that restriction is an understatement- I can't eat more than 1/3 cup of anything- even slider foods... i average 400-500 calories a day - you have to chew everything! I stick to a low carb diet- so 2 months out my typical day is either a protein shake or 1 scrambled egg around 8 am, okios triple zero yogurt for my second meal around 11am, around 2 pm I may eat a boiled egg (deviled with mayo and mustard) around 4pm a tuna packet and around 8pm if I'm hungry- another protein drink or yogurt. Sometimes I will go through Chick-fil-A and get the 8 count grilled nuggets but can only eat 4... save the others for lunch the next day.... not sure if that helps- I am personally happy I did it. I can eat 1/8 of a slice of thin crust Red Barron pizza and stop! (I use to eat the whole thing) I am down 35 pounds from surgery and 45 pounds since starting the process again...

Need dating advice after weight loss

I am single and have dated through a lapband and now sleeve- My strongest recommendation is to never talk about about your weight or surgery on a first date or honestly any date! Any guy you go out with is there to meet you in the present- not the old you or the future you. If eating healthy and working out is important to you - highlight that so you can see if you have that in common. There are so many things to talk to get to know one another. Asking him if he minds that you are overweight shows insecurity in who you are as a person. Stop doing that! You are more than a number on a scale... get out there and meet people just as you are~ and don't make apologies.

3 months post op... Hair Loss

My nutritionist said the hair loss around 3-6 months is from the trauma of surgery and the few days of very low calories right after surgery. (nothing you can do about it) Hair loss after 6 months is not getting enough protein in your diet daily.
  14. It will vary- your body is still adjusting to the surgery and you are still on liquids at this point... I am 6 weeks out and have lost 40 since surgery but it's similar to the band- the scale moves on it's time.. I am maintaining ketogenic/low carb diet and using both the scale and measurements to track progress- I would have gone crazy now just looking at the scale... My doctor said that band revision patients lose slower~ I believe it! That said I am losing inches and able to fit back into clothes.... so hang in there... congratulations!

    Five months out and exhausted

I would up your vitamin B and have your vitamin D checked...

    Anyone ketogenic?

I have MCT and done the bulletproof coffee- I can't say unnoticed too much difference in energy or weightloss... I use the keto strips to stay in ketosis. The only thing I would say is remember it is an oil/fat and to think about the calories of a TBS spoon of oil- also too much MCT and you will be heading to the potty [emoji4]
  17. NSAIDs will cause issues with the lining your stomach- especially if it gets stuck in your staple line- definitely shouldn't be taken for at least three months after surgery- my doctor didn't allow vitamins either until week 3

    Pain meds

As some of the others posted- they gave me pain meds right after surgery but didn't take any after that. Doc had me fill hydrocodone for home but never opened it- I am supposed to only take Tylenol but haven't needed it for any pain yet- turned my ankle this week and thought about getting some- soaked it Epsom salts and averted the drug store again... Surgery was 4/7

Am I full or is that gas?

Full feeling is really different now- don't even feel "full" down in my belly Region- it's a weird feeling much higher... the swelling will continue to go down making it easier just keep drinking small sips and try to exhale as you do... you are doing great!

    Your favorite NSV?

2 weeks ago- 2 weeks after surgery- I was visiting my first light house and wanted to climb to the top.... so I started and as I was going up the 222 steps, I could here a lady behind me wheezing, coughing, struggling to make each step- when I turned around to see how she was doing, I saw myself a month earlier and 25 pounds heavier- barely able to fit in the narrow stairwell, red faced and sweating profusely~this surgery is life changing in the most amazing ways and quickly... I probably would not have even tried to go up those steps... I went up all 222 without getting winded~ yes this was the right decision for me... everyday is something new that I couldn't or haven't been able to do in years- wore heels this week and it didn't hurt my knees.... it's the little things- keep a journal- it's an amazing journey!

Did you have WLS? The audacity of some.

I started weight watchers at work before surgery- we meet downstairs so people haven't given me much grief about losing weight - because it's Weight watchers... I told people when I had the lapband a few years ago- but have decided not to tell anyone this time... minus 2 people ( the one that took me to the hospital and a great friend who lives in another state who is very supportive) it's horrible how we have to defend out decisions to become healthier...
  23. I am in a stall- for 2 weeks- I use ketostix to make sure I'm in ketosis- it helps me mentally because I know my body is burning body fat even if the scale is not moving. You didn't mention exercise- the other way to move metabolism is through exercise try adding a dance class, walk, or swim in. Are you loosing inches? Take measurements- I have found that change motivating too when the scale is not moving. My Nutritionist said band to sleeve conversions just lose weight slower- Hang in there!

    My Journey!!

Looking Great!! Congratulations! Hair loss 3-6 months is from stress of surgery- not much you can do about that except my nutritionist said take biotin ~ hair loss after 6 month time frame is a lack of protein ... she said to get a minimum of 60 grams a day...
