If a doc was in the "ghetto".....
Heft_Bandit replied to kaytiebugs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I must say that this was a very interesting post. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> From the words in the title, I figured someone would get offended or upset, so I couldn't resist reading. Lots of yous and finger pointing and telling others what to do, oh my. So kaytiebugs, I believe the reason others were offended is because typically a "ghetto" is a place where minorities live. Personally, I wasn't offended (and I am black). Everyone is entitled to an opinion and shouldn't have to sugar coat his/her feelings out of fear of offending someone by saying the word Ghetto. To your question about using the doctor, I would say I would have at least met him/her. I have found that the best people of a trade sometimes work in not so great of conditions. It may be the case that in that particular location the Dr. gets a very high amount of patients; whereas another dr. in a much nicer part of town may get only 1/2 the clients. Personally, I would base my decision about seeing a dr. on the qualifications of that dr. not the aesthetics of his office building. ...you know the saying..."don't judge a book by its cover" -

So it's 4:16am, and my surgery is today at 8:30am. I've been up all night anxiously preparing for everything. I have to be at the hospital in about 45 minutes, so wish me luck. See ya'll soon! HEFT Bandit!

Well I wish I could say that I posted the same day as my surgery, but I didn't. It was about 24 hours after the surgery. Not saying I was in a lot of pain for those hours, but not up to doing anything but sleeping and walking. Not sure how the staying up all night part worked out. About 2am I started to think twice as I couldn't have anything to drink. I was happy that I was totally knocked out while waiting for the Dr. in Pre-op as I'm a very impatient person, and would have been upset if he wasn't there on time, which we know Dr.'s usually aren't. But after the surgery I was soo sleepy. The entire night, I didn't stay awake for more then 30 minutes when I was in my room. The nurse would come in to walk me, I'd walk for like 15 minutes or so, and then get back in the bed or chair. The tv was on, but I could even pay attention to it long enought to figure out what was going on. Well I'm home now. Acutally left the hospital at about 2pm. Stopped off and got the drugs. Had a little layover at a friends house as I forgot my keys and had to wait for my brother to get home. I get home at 5:30ish and fix my first meal as I'm now acutally hungry for the first time since my surgery. Well at least I think that's hungr. So it takes me about 2 hours to finish my 4 oz of beef broth which tasted totally horrible. I also took about 4 sips from an 8oz Water. Then I walked on the treadmill for about 10 minutes at a pace of .6 for a whopping 0.1 miles. Now I'm hurting, but must do my breathing exercises and then the drugs for the pain. HEFT!

Hi everyone. Wanted to say thanks for all your nice posts. Surgery was great. No issues what so ever. I'm still in the hospital, but should be leaving around noonish. I have 4 small cuts on my belly. My left side hurts like a b**** but they have been generous with the morphen. Ok gonna lay down now.

The Wii Fit is SOOO cool! I love the step and the running one. If you run past your pacer person, the game will tell you to now chase the dog that's running though the park. It's just SOO cool! OHHH have you guys heard about the new game about to come out that uses the wii fit??? It's a workout game with the Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Micheals. I'm SOOO getting this game. I can't wait until it comes out! Biggest Loser's Jillian Michaels Plans Wii Fitness Game | Game | Life from Wired.com

Heft_Bandit replied to kw3's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Kari, ME too!!! Least i'm not the only one staying up all night. It's 3:50am my time. Scheduled to be at hospital at 5am for 8:30am surgery. We gonna DO this GURL! -
can anyone help me with this problem??
Heft_Bandit replied to yvonneky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tina, like many others, I suggest you contact your dr as his/her advice is the best. Even something over the phone. One of the reasons I'm getting the surgery is so that my body will instantly tell me when I've eaten something bad, so maybe this is what your body is telling you. -
haha. ME TOO. Next Thursday! in Houston Tx.

I totaly understand you fustration gigis... To avoid the why, what, when, etc, I've not told anyone at my work what I'm getting done. My supervisor doesn't even know. I'm just out of the office for two weeks on FMLA leave.

Ok, so LBT is saying I need to make a post here to introduce myself. So HI, class I'm the Heft "weight stealing" bandit.
My surgery is scheduled for next week on the 24th and I wanted to join a community where I could talk about my issues, as I'm only telling a VERY select number of people know. In fact as of now, only two people know...a friend who referred me and my brother. LOL...and I only told my brother just last week, and only because he's my "just in case something happens" person...
So HI to everyone!!!
