I know what you mean about not craving pre-band foods. I have been a pasta fanatic my whole life. Growing up in an italian household in NY, we ate it several times a week. I was worried that Id get bad withdrawals, but I dont really miss it, which amazes me. I had my 7 week weigh in by the way and lost 6 more pounds this week, to bring my total to 44 pounds so far. Seeing the pounds come off every week definitely helps keep me motivated in the gym.

Congrats on your success!! I am 7 weeks post op as of tomorrow. I weigh in tomorrow also (I only weigh once a week). I have lost 38 pounds without a fill. When I went to my surgeons 2 weeks ago, I decided to put the fill off because I am losing steadily without it. True it takes more will power. But believe me, the little hunger pains I may get now are nothing compared to how I used to be hungry prior to banding. I am steadily losing four pounds a week, why lose more than that? I want to lose it slow. If I wanted to lose it faster I would have had bypass. Keep up the good work, and dont sweat the fills. They are there if you need them but there is nothing wrong with will power. There are those that say if you could do that you wouldnt need the band. Garbage. The band, even unfilled, changes everything. Get that exercise up to like 5 or 6 days a week, and you will continue to do awesome.

I was banded exactly one month ago. Have to say, Im too excited about my results so far. Have lost 31 pounds, 4 inches off of my waist. The most important stat, though, is my blood sugar. It was 251 on surgery day, and now my average is about 105. I should be off the diabetes medication real soon. Thanks to the Lord Jesus for this surgery and for the strength He has given me.

How often do you weigh yourself

My surgery day was a Tuesday, so I weigh myself on Tuesdays. Tomorrow is a big weigh in for me, as tomorrow is one month since I was banded. At the three week mark I had lost 28 pounds so we'll see what a month brings. -
Great job!! Keep up the good work. I just reached the two week mark, lost a total of 18 so far. Ready to start eating soft solids...thank God, Im sick of pureed food, LOL

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. I really feel great and have hit the ground running. Thanks to my family and the Lord, I am going to succeed.

Wow, got on the scale at the gym today (I was banded 6 days ago) to find that I lost 14 pounds! Also, blood sugar dropped 100 points in the same time frame. Now I am even more psyched to get on with this workout program, cant wait til the doctor gives me the green light...

Hi, I was banded 5 days ago, still have what feels like a "stitch" on my left side and today my shoulder started aching when I breathe deeply. Any advice??

Thanks Kathy, yes my "42" is dedicated to Mr. Rivera, who was one of the nicest people I ever had the pleasure of meeting. Thanks for your reply and good luck to you.

Ok, very confused about pureed foods

Hi, I was banded five days ago. My brother is a chef and I asked him for help on the thick liquids phase. He made me a soup with all kinds of veggies, lots of grilled chicken breasts and then he pureed it all. It was delicious and easy to swallow. I was so inspired that today I made my own soup using whole peeled tomatoes and crushed tomatoes, carrots, basil, peas, and a few potatoes( to add thickness without using creams) and 96% lean ground turkey. When it was finished I pureed it in a blender. Turned out excellent. And I did this while making a regular dinner for my family. So yes, regular food for them, but stick with your pureed food. Best of luck!!
