About Me
Well after thinking about the lap band for years I finally went through with it. I was at a standstill because my insurance would not approve this. Luckily I was able to go back on my mother's policy and got it approved. My initial "class" was August 2010, and first surgical appointment was November 2010. I completed 3 months of supervised diet program through my PCP and lost about 30 lbs. From the date I had my paperwork in to the date of insurance approval was much sooner than expected so I didn't have much time to think about surgery. It was less than 2 weeks, so the 2 week liver shrinking diet was about a week and a half.
I had surgery on 2/8/11. I also had my gall bladder removed at the same time. I knew this needed to be done long before but had been in denial. While in surgery, I had my lung collapse which per my surgeon is something he has never had happen before. I was scheduled to go home the same day but instead needed to spend the night and in the long run, having pain meds delivered to your IV every 2 hours was much better than just relying on the loratab every 4-6. I am glad I stayed and had wonderful nurses and doctors. The gas pain was horrible, walking helped while I was in the motion but trying to get back into bed after all the air went to my shoulders was very painful.
Also my plan was to have the surgery done on that Tuesday and go back to work the next Monday. That plan didn't work out well either, I ended up going back the following Wednesday for a few hours and had a 4 day weekend, returning fully on the next Monday. And so far work has been okay, but I am drained after work, but in time I hope this will be a lot better.
I am still unable to sleep as before. I can lay on my port side although my typical is a mix between left side and stomach. I have turned the wrong way several times after surgery and I can honestly say I could see stars! It was not pleasant.
I am sick of vitamins, I had been doing the gummy vites but it just seems like a pain to chew them and they don't taste that great. I did find a vegan (which I am not) multivitamin that claims to be tiny. I had to go with Vegan because I'm allergic to red dyes and it appears that every small vitamin on the regular market had the red dye. (WHY DO WE NEED TO COLOR EVERYTHING?). I am also taking sublingual B vitamin complex which is supposed to help with energy. Fingers Crossed!
Well I guess I will update more later... just thought I better get something down.
