I started my liquid diet on Sept 18th. protien shakes, jello,water and soup broth. I have to do this for 2 weeks before the surgery. And so far within the 9 days I have lost 8lbs and I feel good. I'm actually looking forward to getting the surgery done and over with. I was also scared and not knowing what to expect. Now just ready. Good luck on your surgery. Congratulations on your surgery date. My date is September 14. I am excited and scared. Whart are you doing to get ready for surgery?

Thanks for the advice. It's been a big help. I went today to get the lab workup for the surgery. And all the surgerical information. I will be going to the store this weekend to stack up on protein shakes, popsicles and jello, and snapple drinks. I think my biggest hurdle may be trying to get through the 2week liquid diet before the surgery. I'm sure the outcome will be worth it. Thanks again for the advice and continual sucess to you.

The fill is when ur doc injects a small amount of saline into the band via your port. The avg time to get your 1st fill is about 6 weeks after surgery. My biggest struggle after surgery was not being prepared enough w/having decent tasting liquids on hand. The other thing was keeping in mind that the time after the surgery was for healing and not weightloss....any weightloss b/f ur fills is bonus.

So taste your broths, puddings, jellos, popsicles now so you know what you like and will have them stocked. Plus ur protein shakes.

I'm excited yet nervous about the surgery. I keep seeing post where people mention getting their 1st fill. What is that and how soon after surgery do you get? What were some of your biggest struggles after the surgery?

Thx mschips. I'm very happy w/the decision and I'm sure u will be too. It hasn't been all easy but it gets easier every day. I've done pretty go and am very proud but I get my 1st fill next week so I'm really ready to fly!! Best of luck to you and keep me posted of ur progress.
