:help: Hello friends! I was banded on dec 6th and I am having thoughts of removing the band! I am so depressed and anxious I can hardly stand it. Before I was so excited to have the surgery I couldn't have imagined feeling this way. I cannot pinpoint exactly whats wrong, but i know I just want to eat and I cant! I just want to go back to the way things were. I would appreciate any feedback, Suzy

:flame: I've heard of pineapple juice, papaya enzyme and even meat tenderizer to get something unstuck. I was also told to wave my arms above my head- which did not help. Any other suggestions to get something unstuck?? TIA

WasaBB- I have to ask where do you get your bushisms they're great!!! "I said I was looking for a book to read, Laura said you ought to try Camus. I also read three Shakespeares. ... I've got a eck-a-lec-tic reading list." --George W. Bush, interview with NBC's Brian Williams, New Orleans, La., Aug. 29, 2006

LOL MarySue! I do that any way! Thanks everyone for the feedback. I sure hope I don't ever need the meat tenderizer.........

I hear what you are saying!! I have been having problems too and am going in tomorrow to be unfilled from 1.5 to what? I don;t know yet. But I am sick and tired of this! I read where someone suggested eating bites the size of a pecil eraser and chewing to nothing. I know at times I eat too big of bites and too fast. That usually happens when I get overly hungry. The last few evening I have been eating a lot of ice cream mostly bc I get soooo hungry and I know it will go down easily. Unfortunately despite the fact that I don't eat much 'food' I am not losing weight bc of the ice cream. Yeah I know I could be eating jello or yogurt........Anyhow- thanks for letting me vent- hang in there. And even though you;'re having problems congratualtions on your weight loss! -
Wow sounds like youre going thru a lot! I was baned the same day you were and Ive barely lost 20 lbs! I have been having problems too, not to your extent, but I can relate to whats happening. My first fill was .2 of a .4 band- thats 50% restriction right off the bat!!! I was in hell and had to have an emergency unfill. Now Im at 1.5 and having problems barfing and sliming and I am getting really sick of it!! I'm tired of dreading eating and worrying about what will happen if I eat this or that. I'm obsessed with food because I have to figure what is 'safe' to eat. I go in tomorrow and want more fluid removed. I am willing to deal with some of the band problems, but not everyday or every meal! I'm so glad to hear that you are seeking other opinions! I would do the same if I was you. And despite all your troubles with the band, congratulations on your weight loss!

:help: I had my first fill last thursday. I have a 4cc band and usually my dr. does 1cc for first fill. But since I could eat everything under the sun he said he filled it "more than usual". He didn't give a number. Since my fill it seems like most things I eat cause problems. Today I tried to eat a lean cusine with chicken & rice for lunch and although I was eating it slow and chewing well I was only able to have a few bites and I am miserable. I have great pressure in my chest and I think I am what is referred to as sliming because my mouth keeps filling up with saliva.(no vomitting) I feel like I need to burp, but cant. The only things that I know don't bother me to eat are: popcorn, ice cream, certain crackers and cereal. I haven't eaten much for fruit or vegetables because I am terrified of what will happen! I tried to eat a small piece of my birthday cake thinking that it would be ok because it was soft, but it was a nightmare! Am I eating the wrong things or am I overfilled?? Any advice would be dearly welcomed at this point!!:cry

Do you have to have it removed sooner or later?
suzy replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was told it was a commitment for life- barring some unforseen situation....As far as sharon osborne goes, I "heard" that she has battle bulimia for years and therefore she has messed up her band and needs to have it removed. -
Update! My misery continued so I called drs office. Long story short I went in and had fluid removed. I felt better immediately. I found out I was at 2ccs of 4cc band. Doesnt that seem like a lot for a first fill??? I hear what everyone is saying about my food choices but the only reason i was eating those things was bc i was having trouble with everything else! The bday cake was only bc it was my bday not an everyday thing! i could not eat anything-eggs or chicken- without trouble. I have been having problems ever since my fill- today was the final straw! I appreciate everyones support.

I am currently using Centrum chewables and they are a little sour for my taste. I use the Viactin for calcium supplement (yummy), but I would like to try their multi vitamin.

Hello friends! Just wondering if anyone uses a commercial weight loss program i.e. weight watchers, jenny craig etc. after surgery to keep them on track.....tia, Suzy:)

FYI- to help with protien intake - special k makes a protien water in different flavors. I tried the lemon twist and its a little tart, but okay. Just thought I would pass it along. Keep up the good work!

Hi there~ I still eat campbells select soups- very tastey. I also have a lot of smoothies from a local juice shop. Its like a jamba juice. Also stoffers makes a spinach souffle (in frozen section) that is terrific! -
Hi Dawn! Welcome to the banded world! Dr. OBrein did my banding on 12-6 and so far so good. Glad to hear you're doing well. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me! Suzy:)

Your body is going thru big changes and going from regular eating to virtual starvation your body is confused and maybe in 'starvation mode' where your body hangs on to fat as a survival mechanism. Regardless don't worry about losing weight right now, its about healing. You will lose the weight, just keep doing what your dr. tells you and it will all work out !

Welcome to our lapworld! From what I understand the removal of certain meds like ibuprofen prior to surgery is just for surgery's sake. I was sent home with a prescription for liquid ibuprofen, but never filled it bc I had virtually no pain. I think I took liquid tylenol once. I planned taking a week off of work, but went to work before that time. Every one is different and heal at different paces. I had my gallbladder removed by the same surgeon years ago and I asked him if it would be a similar recovery process. He said it should require even less time and he was right. I would say be prepared be anticipating a longer recovery than shorter. Its easier to get the time off up front rather than having to ask for more time off after surgery. -
30 or so hours until surgery
suzy replied to Kaydotrn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree- the waiting makes you crazy! It will be over b4 you know it. Make sure you have plenty of popsicles! Best of luck! Suzy:biggrin1: -
I could also only have ice chips after surgery, which was fine bc I didn't want anything. The next day I went for an xray and had to drink something not very pleasant, but fortunately only 3 swallows. Then I was able to have broth, jello. I agree- the antipation was worse than the experience. Good Luck! Suzy
