    What Foods Cant You Eat?

How do you know u can't eat something....if it gets stuck? If something does get stuck how does it get unstuck?
  2. Hi Dani- I'm just 10 days out and I hear ya- I'm starving! I'm sure some of it is 'head' hunger, but I know I am hungry. The other day I was making fish sticks for my kids and I was SO hungry I started nibbling on one and ended up eating 5-6! I was so scared somthing would happen to my band eventhough I chewed the fish to dust! Fortunately nothing happened. But in that instance I had waited too long since I had eaten (which is something I did pre-band) and got crazy hungry. Things that have helped me is to make sure I get plenty of protein first thing in the day- helps curb hunger. "Eat" frequently and vary between a cold, sweet popcicle and then later hot soup. Campbell Select soups are wonderful! I've had most of the varieties and they have saved me! Also keeping in mind that this is not forever, one day at a time idea. Sometimes I chew gum, suck hard candy, or just distract myself to forget about food. This message board has been a wonderful source of support. Hang in there! You can do this! Keep in mind the reasons you chose to take control of yourlife! Suzy

How do I get mentally prepared?

I agree with everthing that has been said previously....I was just banded on the 6th of december I am still on liquids. This is one area that you have to be realistic about is what happends post-op. The first 4-6 weeks of not eating "real" food has bee harder than I thought. I know it will pass, but it is something to try to 'prepare' yourself for. Also using this website will provide you with the BEST support and answers to all your questions. Keep in mind the reasons you are doing this: improve your health, feel better, look better etc. Congratulations on taking charge of your life!
  4. :)I cannot begin to express my gratitude for all the words of encouragement from everyone! I am doing a lot better. I'm on full liquids which may get old fast, but atleast I am mentally back on track. Thank you all so much! I couldn't have done it without you. God bless you all!! Suzy
  5. thanks i really needed to hear that. i just get overwhelmed at the thought of clear liquids for 2 weeks when i am so hungry! please drop me a line any time. needless to say u have no regrets? have you known of anyone who did? suzy

    I joined Weight Watchers today...

la madam-good for you I know of many people who lost weight with ww. But why do you no longer have a band? I was just banded on the 6th and am having regrets.....Suzy
  7. Hi guys- I was banded on the 6th and am now home. I feel overwhelmed with emotions and start second guessing my choice to be banded. I can't pinpoint exactly what is bothering me...maybe its the anesthesia, but I feel anxious and scared. I know there is the stage of 'what have I done to myself' and I'm hoping this will soon pass. thanks friends:( Suzy

Thanks for the support Jim and congratulations on your success! Sometimes I get cold feet and think 'is this the right thing to do?', but your enthusiam is contageous! I agree it would be nice to get this group going.... do you go to support groups? Or have you ever visited obesityhelp.com? My dr.s office recommended that one. One little gripe I have with that one is it is for all kinds of bariatric surgery, not just lapband. Take care S.

Hi fellow South Dakotans! I just wanted to say hi! I am scheduled to be banded this wednesday-dec. 6. I am both excited and a little nervous. I welcome any words of advice before the big day...thanks, Suzy in Sioux Falls
  10. Hello gang! I can't believe I'm going to do this, but I'm excited. Just wanted to say hi to all!
  11. Hi- I am scheduled for 12-6 and I had gallbladder surgery 10 years ago. I asked dr. about comparing the 2 surgeries and he said it would not be any worse than gallbladder as far as pain (he was the one who removed gallbladder.) As far as coffee I guess as long as its black and decaf its okay. Theres something about no longer drinking caffeine and lb sugery- bummer! I love coffee. Hope this helps!
