I was just informed by my employer that our company is switching their insurance coverage to a different provider. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen half way through everything and what your experience was. The insurance I have now requires the 6 month dietition appointments. If my new insurance requries this, will i be able to continue with what I already have done? I'm kind of hoping they dont require it so I can get this going a little faster! Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! *Mommy on a Mission*

Gaining during the 6 month required diet?
nsklors posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to do the 6 months of dietition appointments for one of my insurance companies. I was wondering if anyone else has done this and if gaining weight can ruin your chances of being approved?.. Thank you -
Thats a reason I dont really want to tell people also. Ive only told a few people besides my family and ive heard it all about how i could die from the surgery and its such a risk and blah blah blah. The way to look at it is, if i dont have the surgery.. im never going to lose the amount of weight to make me healthy.. and the obesity will contribute to health problems that may lead to death.

I will probably not be having my surgery until around December because I have to do the 6 month nutrition appointments. But i can imagine I would be pigging out right before i started the liquid diet! It sort feels like your "last meal".. haha

3 years of proof of being overweight
nsklors replied to JulyJen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance also required this. I dont regularily go to the doctor so I didnt have any weights at my clinic. I went to my gynocologist to see if they had any and they didnt. I told them why I needed documented weight and they were very supportive and we did a "guesstimate" of what i weighed at that time and they wrote up a thing for me. I would try this if all else fails. -
Pre-op weigh in questions

I was wondering the same thing. I too have to have 6 months of dietition appointments. My dietition told me that someone she knows was denied by her insurance company because she gained weight during the 6 months. So I am determined to either lose a little bit of weight or at least stay at where I am. I would be devistated if I was denied by insurance just because I gained a few pounds in the 6 months. -
When did you meet/select your surgeon?
nsklors replied to ILKrista's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to a seminar at the hospital where the surgery is performed. The 2 surgeons both talked there and gave a little background on themselves. After the seminar you could go and make your first appointments, which for me were meeting with a nurse and meeting with a dietition. When I met with the nurse, she made an appointment for me to meet with the surgeon. I met him and he went through everything that would happen. I still have 4 months of dietition appointments required by insurance, but I have already met my surgeon.
