Looking for support in Charlotte
Jerseydiva15 replied to Jerseydiva15's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded in August 2010. SW 288 lowest weight 153. Current weight 221. Ever since I have been in Charlotte between allergies and breathing problems. I was on prednisone and my band was unfilled since then I have gained weight I have not been able to lose. They started filling my band again slowly but I came to a point where I was throwing up too much and acid reflux was insane so they unfilled me again. I was filled a little yesterday I feel the restriction but I am just so frustrated. On the verge of depression. -
I started 288 lbs. I was banded Aug 25th 2010. I went down to 153 lbs. I recently got sick and was put on steroids and I gained weight and I am current 220 lbs. I feel so frustrated, like a failure. I have been eating right and exercising but the weight is not coming off. I currently live in Charlotte, Nc. I need a buddy/mentor. I was to be at 170-180 lbs.

I see my doctor on the 23rd. I know I need more restriction.

Thank you Michele! I have been working out, it's my eating that I definitely need to change. I have no discipline.

I recently got a fill in July. I have a follow up end of the month.

I am trying to get back on track. It seems my efforts are not working. I feel hungry all the time.

I got my last fill on 07/29. I was 218. I have cut down on carbs and I have been exercising 5 days a week. I just weighed myself I'm 220 lbs.
-
That would be awesome!

No it wasn't band related. Bad bad allergies.

I got surgery done August 2010, started at 288, went down to 153. Got sick and 3cc were taken out and I was put on steroids twice, current weight 220.

Hello everyone! I have been banded for almost 3 years now. I recently got sick with really bad allergies and doctor had me on a very high dose of steroids and 3cc's were taken out of my band. This caused me to gain about 40 lbs. thankfully I am doing great. I went for a fill on Tuesday, they have been filling me up gradually, so right now I'm on liquids for 3 days and soft foods for 3 days. Back to the basics so to speak. This time around I want to cut out carbs, just get the minimal amount needed, with that said. Has anyone tried the Paleo Diet? Has it worked for you? What do you eat?

Confused and disappointed

Thank you so much everyone. I survived day one of liquids. Now on day 2. Trying to remember what are some mushy foods I can eat. Also trying to think of simple no crab meals. -
So I went for a fill today and she only gave me .2 cc, so I am currently at 5.1 cc. I was really hoping to get at least .5 cc, but she refused. Said that she is afraid to over fill me. She wants me to cut out carbs completely and increase protein intake. I'm just so frustrated. I managed to go down to 153 from 288. Now I am back at 218. I want to lose the weight I gained because being sick and being given steroids in high dosage twice.

I'm going to try to do better because right now I just feel disappointed and I am so afraid to go back to the weight I was. -
Confused and disappointed

I am going to admit that I do eat a lot of carbs and sugars. Because of the fill I am on liquids then soft. I think I may have to take it back to post surgery days. Start from zero. Prior to the this current fill I was having coffee and muffin or bagel for Breakfast. Rice, Protein and veggie for lunch....for dinner I would just have whatever. -
Hello everyone. Let me tell you a little bit about me. I got my lapband in Aug 2010. Everything has been great. I started at 288 I went all the way down to 150 but I didn't like the way I looked I was beginning to look sick. I recent moved to Charlotte, Nc and my allergies have gotten really bad and I have had some inflammation and I was put on steroids twice. I went from 150 to my current weight of 200. In the process 3 ccs were taken out from my band and she has gradually put some back in but I feel I don't have enough restriction and she refuses to give another fill. I feel that I need at least another cc in. I have been eating right and exercising but I constantly feel hungry. Can anyone help? I want to lose about 30 lbs I felt great at 170
-
Thank you for replies. I will try it's just so frustrating.

I was too tight previously and I was not keeping anything down. It also had to do with the inflammation. That's when she took 3cc out. She does fills using X-ray machine and when she gives me that nasty flourodie liquid it doesn't go down but I keep telling her I'm fine.

Here is my story briefly...I was banded on August 25, 2010 and thus far I have lost 40 lbs and I feel like a total failure. Now I do have restriction but I am able to eat whatever I want just not as much as I would have before lapband. I really really do not want to give up. I need some guidance....Please help!!

First and foremost I want to thank everyone for your replies. It has given me a lot to think about. I have taken a little bit from everyone. I have decided to start fresh as if I just got out of surgery and also embrace the fact that this is definitely a lifestyle change and not a quick fix. Again thank you!....I will keep you guys posted.
