Can you see/feel your port?
kwicken1070 replied to ardelia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I called the nurse, I'm not the only one that asked that. When you lay down stretch over a pillow the port stays in the same place, your skin moves. Duh! So when your standing it looks like the needle poke is far away from the port. -
Can you see/feel your port?
kwicken1070 replied to ardelia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a little concerned. I had my first fill of 2cc and the needle mark and very small bruising are below my scar. I think I feel the port above my scar. Very pronounced round hard bump. I have been losing a good amount of weight since my surgery on Aug. 3rd., WITHOUT anything in my small 10cc band. Does anyone think the nurse made a mistake or is just playing mind games with me? I would hate to think that this was standard procedure. It is really bothering me that this could be done on purpose since I'm losing weight by exercising and eating right. -
"Should I Stay or Should I Go"?
kwicken1070 replied to gracierose's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If you don't want to stay, force yourself to walk a lot after surgery. It's help's get rid of the gas. Have a liquid pain reliever at home. -
From what I know, your BMI is not high enough to warrant insurance paying for it. It would be considered more cosmetic than for long term health. The insurance companies have all of this data and studies and know when they can save money over the long haul if someone is over 40 BMI The LapBand is not a miracle cure. You have to work hard with this wonderful tool to make it work. Whatever you do don't try for the 40 BMI, go the other way!!! Good luck.

You have to keep in mind that the Band is just a tool. It won't work miracles, you have to work with it. My doctor said that the lifestyle change with the band is like Weightwatchers with an aid. A real good aid but still just an aid. Good luck and stay focused.

How many of you drink coffee?
kwicken1070 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Caffeine has never been good for your health even before we got Band'd. (?) You know what I mean. I think it's more of a healthy choice after surgery. Why put myself through all of this if I'm not going to make good choices? That's kinda been my thinking after surgery. I'm down to about 3 oz of caffeine with my decaffeinated. 1 cup in the am. -
6 years post op Lap Band surgery unsucessful
kwicken1070 replied to Brooklynborn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drinking water with the lapband is a big no no. That's one of the first things my support people told me not to do. It washes down your meal and doesn't give you the full feeling that the small pouch is for. Don't give up just yet. Take smaller portions, chew the crap out of it and take your time. No water 1/2 hour before or after your meal. -
Hi All. Had my procedure done on Aug. 3rd at Park Nicollet. Great people there. Feeling good. Looking forward to my first adjustment on the 1st. I like to tell people I had a choke collar put on so now I don't eat as much and I don't bark at strange dogs!

I've been Band in Minnesota
kwicken1070 replied to kwicken1070's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Nope went home the next day. Had a little bout with motion sickness right after surgery and on the way home. Didn't happen again. -
There is a tutorial that someone made. Look for it on the home page or in editing your signature
