    Just starting the journey

Well this is my first blog and the beginning of my lap band journey. I went for my very first appt on Friday very excited. While talking to the nurse she informed me that I had to have a bmi of 40 to qualify for the surgery, after getting my height and the weight I thought I was my bmi was only 38. Any other time I would be devastated by that number but this was the first time I was upset it wasnt higher. Well she went ahead and weighed me and got my height, to my surprise I am a little shorter than I thought. This brought my bmi to 40 but barely. I now have to make sure I don't lose any weight or they will not do the surgery. Kind of crazy sounding for the first time in my life I have to try not to lose weight, which should not be a problem. Well I am 35 and weigh 248 wow I was shocked by the number it seems like only yesterday I was 140 but in reality I haven't been that weight for 12 years. I have 2 boys 11 and 7 and ever since having them and being married I have picked up weight each year. No matter what I do I cannot seem to lose the weight. At the rate I am going I will be 400 lbs by the time I am 45 so this is what is making me take this journey. I am lucky though after some talking too my husband is very supportive he says if it will make me feel better than he is all for it. I also have a really good friend who is having this done in sept or oct so we will have each other to go thru this with. My next appt is on the 19th I can't wait, I am so ready to have this done, but I know i need patience.
