I have not, but it is definitely something I am aware of since it's common for WLS patients due to the very low calorie diet (VLCD). Hope you feel better soon. https://www.niddk.nih.gov/health-information/health-topics/weight-control/dieting_gallstones/Pages/dieting-and-gallstones.aspx

Sashimi (3 oz = 24g protein), Greek yogurt, cheese (all kinds), kefir, baked wild caught Salmon (3 oz = 23g protein), can of sardines, hard boiled egg, Jerky and tofu are my regulars. I don't mind healthy fats in my diet, nothing is low fat.

I used to in the beginning but more often than not, I was so happy that I can eat a piece of string cheese and be satisfied for quite awhile instead of feeling like a bottomless pit. The only time that I feel like I miss it (very rarely now), is when I go to a restaurant but I've learned to just ask for a box at the time I order, and I can still enjoy the food for the next 3 meals at home. I'm only 9 weeks out, and I already can eat more at one sitting. I'm not looking forward to when my sleeve relaxes more as I've gotten used to eating 2-3 oz and being happy.

Though out the whole process I've had this problem (I figure it'll go forever since I'm sleeved.) so I bought the Cleanstream (shower enema system), and once a week I just use a little bit of warm Water, and I'm good. I'm aware not to go overboard with it because even though it's water if you do it too much, you can knock your electrolytes out of balance... etc. I much prefer this than taking any meds for constipation, I've always been skittish about taking any medication unless it's absolutely necessary, but that's just me. Oh yeah, forgot to say, it has a switch that you can go to the shower head when it time to take a shower.

When everyone else is drinking
Sai replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ice tea unsweetened with a gang load of lemon or lime. I have never liked alcohol so it's same ol' same ol' to me when I go to happy hour with a client and/or co-worker. -
I used them for 2 months, am thinking of going back to the Patches but I have a graveyard of multivitams (Centrum, Flintstones... Etc. so I figure I might as well finish those for now.) I got mine here at the store they have on Bariatric Pal, and they have an autoship program which saves you money. I haven't called my doctor asking their opinion of the patches vs pills but I know they sell the pills so they may be bias lol. Many here have sworn by the patches, which is why I tried them.

I once had a potassium deficiency, and I had hand and leg cramps so you may be experiencing cramps due to some Vitamin or mineral imbalance. It's a serious thing, I would suggest seeing a doctor ASAP.

How do you get in all you food and work full time? What is your eating schedule
Sai replied to LittleLizzieLilliput's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
String cheese, salmon or beef Jerky when I'm on the go, or I eat them on my coffee breaks. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
Has anyone received a denial just for Band Removal?
Sai replied to kristenmh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Only if there are no complications, but mine was a minor complication from being too tight and on second appeal they accepted it. I had no comorbidities so it surprised me they approved it to be honest. Mine was a band removal to sleeve though, one surgery. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
A week. I originally took off two weeks, but I was lucky to have an easy recovery. My work isn't physical though, it's a lab and meetings type of job. I walk a lot in the lab but no carrying heavy things... Etc. If there was a lot of physical activity, it'd be another story. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Liquids, puddings... Etc. will go right through your sleeve. At this point, all you have to do is make sure you get your protein and water goals in. When you get to solids, you'll definitely feel it.

Mine was week 5, allowed anything if tolerated. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Gaining Weight after one year post sleeve! PLEASE HELP!
Sai replied to addygirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yup, several studies have shown that artificial sweeteners trick your body's metabolism and makes the body begin to store more fat instead of burn fat, it even causes insulin spikes. One oif the most recent studies (2015) showed that people who drank diet soda had almost triple the abdominal fat compared to those who did not drink diet soda. food for thought (pun intended hehe). -
I've been using fitday.com every day since 2009 to log every bite or drink I have. I still love to go back and look at what I was eating when I was 293+ in early 2009 hehe. I also love to look at my weight graph through the years. Their android app though sucks big time (fitnesspal much better app if you use your phone), so unfortunately one has to go to their laptop to use it. Lots of graphs, stats... Etc. The two I use on my phone (not for logging food but support): Awesome app for any eating disorder, it's called RR Eating Disorder management. Oh man, it's such an awesome app. I also use My Diet Coach Pro.

Does anyone else regret their surgery?
Sai replied to Torressl1234's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Nope, I don't regret it at all (not my lap band nor my revision to sleeve this year) but having said that, I had an extremely easy recovery. I think if I had issues like some, I'd be feeling similar to the way you feel. I hope you feel better soon. -
Waiting Game sucks... Anyone recently submit to Insurance?
Sai replied to mrobles1027's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remember the waiting game for my band to sleeve revision. My bariatric center sent the paperwork in April, I was denied quickly because I had no medical issues, was lower bmi (due to band)... Etc. At that point, I was content to let my band rest since my band had been good to me (they unfilled my band for being too tight), and come back 3 months later to get it filled again. A month later or so, I get a call they approved me on second appeal... Then it got very real lol. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
Yes, my surgeon suggested Miralax if I had problems during those weeks.

Has anyone had surgery with Dr. Alvarez?

National Obesity Care Week: Why, What, and How to Get the Care You Need
Sai replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Great article, Alex. I especially like "Make the Most of Each Appointment". Being a naturally quiet person, I will have to make a point to do this each appointment. I often start off with questions and communication because I want answers but then after I tend to withdraw. With many things in life, communication is the key... Especially when it comes to the medical personnel who are supporting me in my weight loss, and also the the great support here in the forums. Thank you for the excellent reminder. -
Protein protein protein!
Sai replied to kjkashmaniac's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 10 days post op, I was using an unflavored protein powder mixed in beverages and/or broth. -

Program calls for 800-1200 cal/day (from wk 5 when I was approved to eat solids and anything I can tolerate). I'm averaging 946 cal for the last two months.

How much protein do you get in a day?
Sai replied to cuteNATL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My program's goal for me is 60g. I'm averaging 70g. I'm at week 9 post-op.
