    Hot Sauce

I eat tons of hot green chiles (in vinegar) and sriracha sauce... Etc. I love spicy things. No problem here either. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

    Ideas for non-meat proteins?

"Some of my faves - Chia seeds are great, can sprinkle them in everything, 2 T equal 6g of Protein. Tempeh = 16g per 3 oz serving. Black Beans 7.6g per half cup. Peanuts are 7g per 1/4c (or 2T peanut butter), cashews are 5g per 1/4c. Lentils and lima beans are up there too but I don't like those too much hehe. I LOVELOVELOVE lentils and limas...I eat lentils 3 or 4 times a week, with curry spices or onions or tomatoes. I adore them. I love limas too but they don't love me...do you think it could be the skins on them? Thanks to you and your suggestion a while back about kefir, I bought some at Whole Foods and loved drinking it. It had been a while since I'd had any, so I wanted to give it a trial run before I bought the grains to make it myself. And tell me how you prepare tempeh? I can get it at our military grocery store, surprisingly, so I'm willing to give it a shot." _____________ Yeah, it may be the skins on them . Wow, great to hear you are drinking kefir! It's so so so good for our gut health. Tempeh can be substituted for ground beef in any recipe, just crumble it in your recipe as you would ground beef. Some like to broil it with a layer of cheese or put it in Soups, chilis, salads or stews. I remember seeing a vegetarian tempeh chili recipe once. Like Tofu (it's just the fermented sibling of tofu hehe), it takes on the taste of whatever you use as spices. Found this page, I'll probably try some of these too. http://www.crazyvegankitchen.com/15-of-the-best-vegan-tempeh-recipes/

  6. Eating habits the same, but it's easier because you can eat Protein without getting stuck. Same rules, protein first, chew your food really well, don't drink for 30 min. after eating. When you can eat depends on your surgeon. Follow your program for your safety. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

    Food Forever Gone

I think you will. Like the others, I can pretty much eat anything, and it doesn't give me any ill effects. I haven't tried Cookies, cake... Etc. but it's because I never really liked those types of things to begin with... And before, it would be my last resort if nothing else was around, but I'm going to guess it would make me feel icky too. Something about going through a life changing surgery, really makes me think before acting on any urges. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

    Band to Sleeve

I had a relatively successful band for since 2009, and this last September I had the revision to sleeve. Hmm, let's see, I had it done outpatient by a skilled surgeon. It was fast, she removed the band and did the sleeve in about an hour. I was released at 4 pm that same day. It was an easy recovery. I followed everything she suggested, and by day 3, other than muscular pain, I pretty much felt normal. Eating wise, it's quite different. Like the band, liquids and pureed food passes through, so slider foods are still slider foods. When I eat dense solids, I get satisfied very quickly. I've had the sleeve for almost 11 weeks, and I haven't slimed or got plugged yet. I did get nauseous once due to eating too fast as I was in a big hurry that day. Luckily with the band it became a habit to really chew my food and not drink after a meal so for the most part, it feels as if I never had any surgery. I can eat fruits, steak, vegetables like I did before my band but due to the sleeve I get full at about 4 oz (depending on how dense it is). I don't regret the revision at all. I did go in to have my band adjusted and wasn't seeking any revision of any kind but the doctor who saw me suggested for me to change to the sleeve to avoid any future complications since I had a history of esophageal dilation due to being too tight.

    Slipped!

@@Courtnin I never had a slip, my band was often too tight so it caused esophageal dilation a couple of times. At the time, I was on a balanced diet ~1400 cal/day, 60-80 carbs.

    food funerals?

I had the band since 2009, and they unfilled me for 3 or 4 months so I felt "free" hehe. I had a couple before pre-op diet for my revision but I didn't go crazy. I had a prime rib steak at Fuddruckers (steak always got stuck in my band), and what's really funny is... I can eat steak now whenever I want. Go figure. lol
  11. No I don't. I'm going on 3 months post-op. I had the lap band for 8 years, and although it had more restriction, I have no regrets. I'm sorry you're having a hard time. I'm hoping things will improve for you quickly.

    Slipped!

That seems like a very long time. The barium swallow does give them information though and from that they can tell if it slipped or not. Did they unfill you completely? That's what they did to me, and they said to come back in 3 months. The unfill takes most of the pressure off your stomach so it can heal again. I recently had a revision but I had the band from 2009-2016.
  13. First week, averaged 300 cal/day. Next few weeks 600-800 cal/day. My program during liquid, soft was only to meet Protein and Water goals. At week 5, I was cleared for any type of food as long as I can tolerate it, and it's 800-1200 cal/day. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  14. Just tried Pork Clouds, 100 cal, 0 carbs, and made with olive oil. They are really good!

Can u tel me what Pork Clouds are Please?

    2. Sai

      Sai

Hi @shedo82773 They are pork rinds that are prepared with olive oil, no artificial ingredients or preservatives...etc. I saw them at the health store one day, and I found them on Amazon too. I got the Malabar black pepper flavor. Really tasty especially if you like pork rinds & are on a low carb diet.

    Sushi/Sashimi thoughts?

I eat sashimi all the time. Yum!! Like High functioning said above, I skip on the sushi due to the rice. More room for more sashimi hehe.

    Shame

I didn't feel shame but I think it's only because I had gotten to the point in my life that I was desperate for any type of real help. That was back in 2009. I got the lap band, and that helped tremendously for many years despite it being finicky. After that surgery, it gave me the hope and willpower I needed as far as weight was concern. Within 6 months, that feeling of hopelessness and hitting my rock bottom disappeared. When I was told that I should have a revision to sleeve, I saw it as an extension of that help that I know I will continually need to be successful to stay healthy.

    EGD

Most people have an easy time. Unfortunately mine wasn't. My throat (although completely sedated) decided to fight the endoscope the entire time so I had a severe sore throat and acid reflux for a couple of weeks. My surgeon said I was really rare, so I'm going to bet that you will breeze right through it.

    3 weeks out, food volume?

At 3 weeks I was still on pureed food and was told don't worry about volume, just meet protein and water goals. I easily ate 1/3 c of something I really liked. When I got to solid foods, there is a definite "don't you dare take another bite" feeling vs liquids and pureed food.

    11 days post op!

It's mainly water loss so no cause for alarm, especially if you are currently taking in little or no carbs. It should level soon, so unless you have a fever and other serious side effects, I think you're doing great.
  24. I'm 10 weeks post-op revision to sleeve, after the 5th week, I've been slowly ramping up. My program wanted my goal to be between 800 to 1200 cal/day. Some days I eat 800, other days I eat 1200. I don't do it intentionally though. Some days I'm just not hungry, other days I am. Other than the first few weeks (lost a lot of Water weight the 3rd and 4th week), if I'm under 1000, I still lose but my weight loss slows down to a crawl.
