I was also cleared at 5 wks, and had no issues or problems with salads, veggies... Etc. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Commitment - the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc. (Merry Christmas all, happy holidays!)
-
Oh and I didn't think about those who don't stick to the rules because I'm pretty good about it. One can always eat around the sleeve (candy, Cookies, milkshakes... Etc.). Are you committed to starting with Protein first once you get to the solid food stage?
-
Good point, better to deal with it before than after if it's a real problem.

After the surgery many don't have an appetite, and if you do (like myself), you'll find it easier to reach for healthy foods and well, you won't be able to eat more than 2-3 oz before getting stuffed. After surgery, it's a good time to learn good habits since you have a great tool. I don't have kids so I can't help you there. ^^

Get a ecig mod, and vape zero nicotine juice for 12 days before test, and you'll pass. You'll miss the nicotine but you'll at least be able to satisfy going through the "motions" of exhaling vapor.

Semi Solid Suggestions

@@danaymacklin Can add a can or make 14-15 oz of enchilada sauce yourself. Either works -
How often do you weigh yourself?
Sai replied to nlmguerrero's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I live on the scale. I probably get my 10k steps by walking back and forth from my living room to my scale hehe. I also log every bite I put in my mouth and every sip that I take, every minute I exercise. For me, it's all about accountability. I try not to let the temporary water gain freak me out. If I'm taking in 1000 calories a day of clean food and exercising an hour a day, logically I know the weight gain is either muscle or water. I have to do this (everyone is different), or I'll find myself near 300 lbs. again. It's the only thing that works with me. It's my way of ninja. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
Why is weight loss a one size fits all scenario here? Different goals call for different approach

I've been here 5 years longer than you. -
Struggling with Solid Food - too much freedom
Sai replied to puttinmefirst's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
First off, I totally get you. What helps me is this: Eat your Protein first. If you do that, the way the sleeve works, you'll feel full. When you're full and satisfied, you can make better choices on what you eat next. I know it seems simplistic but it's a great place to start. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
Why is weight loss a one size fits all scenario here? Different goals call for different approach
Sai replied to Tootsietoes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
One size fits all... Interesting. I have seen many like you who eat everything in moderation, and they aren't attacked. I fall in the moderate carb (eat whole fruits and sometimes whole grains) vs low carb, and no one attacks me. Discussions, debates are always welcomed here. It's the self created drama that is not. If you get my drift... Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
String cheese and jerky (the latter if allowed on your program. I was cleared for everything at 5 wk but I know every program is different) travel good.

I went through pre-op and post-op with no artificial sweeteners. The reason I stopped was I started making my own milk kefir for probiotic purposes, and have been drinking it daily since 2010. Sucralose, for example, destroys and alters the all important gut microflora, so it would erase any of the good that the kefir does in my tummy. So, it can definitely be done. I used unflavored Protein in my broths, drinks... Etc.

During that time I loved putting a can of enchilada sauce with some black Beans, onions, some spices in a crock pot. Melt some cheese into little chips size and dip them in it. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -

Calcium carbonate or citrate?
Sai replied to PinkAsh!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Citrate. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
Super easy for me.. I had it done in the morning as outpatient. Surgery was a little over 1 hour. She removed my band and put in the sleeve. The first four hours I had nausea and pain. They gave me meds to help. After a few walks, I was released at 4 pm. Slept most of the second day. Third day I was able to meet both Water and Protein goals. Felt pretty much normal except a bit sore in the midsection. Never had problems with getting sick, an Iron stomach. I do feel restriction, usually 3-5 oz/meal. I had an excellent surgeon though, so I consider myself very lucky. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Hang in there, once they graduate you to pureed foods, you'll feel instant relief and freedom. The pre-op and the post-op liquid diet is challenging but you can do it. There's been quite a few that post AFTER they eat things that are potentially life-threatening, but that is not you. Just the fact you came on here and asking for support, I know you can do this.

My first day was nausea and pain, my second day was sleep sleep sleep, my third day was great and everything was fantastic UNTIL my incisions started to itch a few days later. Ugh hehe, i really frickin' hated that. I did find a Neosporin antibiotic gel that also had anti-itch. It helped so so much. Good luck, hopefully it'll subside soon.

Pre or post op, what was or is the hardest for you
Sai replied to julie74601's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Pre-op was the hardest part of my journey. -
anyone not recognize you after weight loss?
Sai replied to newmein2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unfortunately no... Maybe fortunately too because the people in my life never really focused on my weight. The only one who focused on it was my mom and every phone call she still asks how is my weight lol. It's been seven years since I was near 300 lbs so it's been awhile so most people (co workers... Etc), other than family, met me when I was already ~160 lbs. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
As soon as I was put on soft foods, I never had another "Protein shake". I did continue with unflavored protein if I couldn't meet my protein goals on a given day. I mix it with my coffee. Congratz, am thrilled for you. I couldn't wait to get off of liquids myself. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
