How much should I be able to eat
Sai replied to gustavio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the maximum tolerated volume (MTV) depends on the size of the bougie used during surgery. I believe my NUT said my sleeve will have a 150 ml MTV, don't remember though... Wrote it down somewhere. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
Thank you all again for your responses! Only one that kind of bothers me (well, they all itch booo lol) is one that is at the center top cause it sits right under my bra band. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Sleeve surgery but not in a hospital - dr Kim
Sai replied to TXhottie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
6 days post op of the outpatient band to sleeve revision. In at 7 am, walking by 11 am and out by 4 pm. Dr.Holden and team definitely knows what they are doing. ^^ Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
I am 6 days post a revision surgery (band to sleeve). Although it's normal to feel nervous, knowing that it doesn't really help get over that feeling. What helped me is, where it is new to you and me, these doctors have done zillions of sleeve surgeries. It's routine. It's mundane. It's ordinary. You'll be just fine. The post op isn't too bad either. Only hard day was the first for me. I was in at 7 am, out by 4 pm. in the same day. Excited for you! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

I bet! Wow, that's great you had the option to pay more to be able to have only one through the belly button.

Everyone tells me I'm tooo young, opinions?
Sai replied to befitnotskinny's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I wish I could've had it done at 18... Perhaps, it would've saved me years of self hatred. Good luck and keep us posted. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
I did it! Got sleeved yesterday 9/2!
Sai replied to #BirdDog's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats . I had my revision to sleeve on 9/2 as well. It was done outpatient, surgery early in the morning, released at 4 pm. First day was miserable for me though, slept through day 2, & day 3 has been great. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
Now I'm wondering why I got 7 incisions... Thanks for your input . I'll call my doc tomorrow. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Yes I always have nausea and told the doctor this before my surgery (which was Sept. 2, 2016) so she gave me a prescription for Ondansetron ODT 4mg and it works wonders! Perhaps you can get them to give you that prescription.

Today was my 3rd day and I had one that hurt so bad too. I believe the nurse told me it was the site they pulled the large stomach through and put a mesh there. Feel better soon. Day 3 feels almost normal to me. Day 1 was not so good, neither was day 2.

19th day here on a 4 Protein shakes a day (with almond, skim or soy milk) or 5 shakes with Water, 1 c no sodium broth. I'm allowed sugar-free jello but I don't eat any sucralose so I have to pass on that one. The best advice that I was given is to space out your protein shakes, and whether you want them or not at the given time, drink them. Make sure you drink the full daily number of shakes. If not, you'll find yourself hungry and fall into temptation. Also, of course, drink lots of water. I found it helped to add different types of extracts to my shakes. For example, I got Frontier banana extract and a 1/4 tsp of that in my vanilla Protein shake made a world of difference in flavor. I also got caramel, almond and vanilla extract. Lots of types out there. Good luck, you'll do fine!

On day 18 here of a 3 week liquid diet. My program is 4 shakes made with skim milk, almond or soy milk or 5 shakes made with Water plus a cup of unsalted broth a day, plus the typical free drinks. The goal amounts were as follows: Protein 60 to 80g, carb 50 to 80, calories 800 to 1000. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Only problem I remember was gas pains. I walked often and lived on those gas-x strips hehe . Take your meds on time so you won't feel any pain. Good luck, you'll do great. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Nervous to go under the knife AGAIN
Sai replied to smellslikecoffee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
What you're feeling is perfectly normal. I'm feeling it too. I was banded in 2009, was successful, but this year I went in for a fill and they suggested for me to have a revision to sleeve instead. I think that's the new way doctors are handling band patients these days, regardless whether they are having problems or stalls. They unfilled it and of course, I gained about 20 lbs. while waiting for my revision surgery. I had Dr. Martinez for my band but have since moved, and am going to have my revision on Sept. 2, 2016 with another doctor. I wish it was with Dr. Martinez as I always had faith in his capabilities and judgment... I guess it's just a long way of saying "I'm scared too." *big hugs* You will do just fine, and so will I, let's just keep reminding each other hehe. -
Endoscopy complete[emoji1316]
Sai replied to acm21_'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
During my endoscopy, the nurse told me that my throat kept fighting them so I needless to say, I had a bad sore throat for about a week. I also had bad acid-reflux for about 2 weeks after (didn't have it before). It all went away, and I'm a happy camper again. Just thought I'd touch on some rare side effects I went through just in case there are others who has them too and were worried they would be permanent but it's not . Nope, you're definitely not alone. My band was unfilled a few months ago, and I've put on ~20 lbs, and the nurse told me it's common, most of the time far more than just 20 lbs. Good luck on your surgery! My revision is scheduled for early September.

Stopping Triamterene hctz for pre-op diet
Sai replied to Sai's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks all. I called the bariatric doctor before I posted, but didn't think about calling my primary physician. Good idea. Thank you both for your input!! I always like to see what other doctors' tell their patients too. hehe -
Stopping Triamterene hctz for pre-op diet
Sai posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to stop my daily dosage of triamterene hctz when I begin my pre-op diet. I am to be on the pre-op diet for 3 weeks (on 4th day now). That's a long time to be off my blood pressure meds so I'm a little concerned. I understand it's a diuretic, and that's why they want me off of it. I was thinking maybe a week before surgery, not 3 weeks before. Just checking if there is anyone else was told the same thing or given other directions. Thanks in advance. -
hehe You all are definitely lucky. When I had my lap bad back in 2009, I had to go a strict diet (can't really remember the details anymore) and now I'm on pre-op diet for a revision for 3 weeks, ALL liquid diet... Yeah. Fun fun lol.

Anyone kept their procedure a secret?
Sai replied to FatboyNYC's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I told my mom about my lap band surgery back in 09, and thats about it. I've always been a private person, and to change now would be unnatural. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
Day 3 of pre op diet here. Using BariEssential Meal Replacements. I like the Peanut Butter one best with a tablespoon of unsweetened organic cacao. Surprisingly they are keeping full. I don't have a sweet tooth at all so I'm drinking homemade Soup in between: low sodium broth, low carb veggies like spinach, Napa cabbage, ginger...etc. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

That's great! Who was your surgeon? Was it done as outpatient? Mine will be done as outpatient and that's why I'm asking. My wife will be asking for FML to care for me. Based on your experience, how many days should she stay with me, if at all. I don't want her to miss too much work as we need the money. Thank you so much in advance. 3-4 days is what they told me.
