The Secrets of the Slim at All You Can Eat Buffets
Sai replied to Elizabeth Anderson RD's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Interesting, thank you for sharing. My husband is naturally thin, and he always gets us a booth far away (if I choose, it's up close and personal haha), he also always sits on the booth side that his back is to the buffet (I'm always facing it lol), and he absolutely scouts the entire bar before deciding what he'll eat first. -
Yes sushi without rice is called sashimi. They usually serve it with a side of rice. I am a sashimi freak hehe.

Sai replied to boosh10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had an outpatient band to sleeve revision (one step) and it took a little over an hour. -
Majority of Band to Sleeve Revisions done in two surgeries?!
Sai replied to SwampBillies's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Yeah, my surgeon does it outpatient. It floored me too when she first told me! lol -
Majority of Band to Sleeve Revisions done in two surgeries?!
Sai replied to SwampBillies's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had the band removed and got sleeved on Sept. 2, 2016. I had the band since 2009. I'm pretty sure there was a lot of scar tissue. The surgery took about an hour, I was in at 5 am, surgery was at 7 am, walking at 11 am, and I was released at 4 pm. I believe it's the only way my surgeon does revisions. I think it's more common for surgeons to do it in 1 step now, but I'm sure it has to do with preference and skill as well. Either way works. ^^ -
Hospital stay: what should I take with me?
Sai replied to katie09/21/2016's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was outpatient too like Loopylulu but I did bring super comfy, baggy clothes to wear on the ride home and a pillow to hold against my stomach during the ride. That pillow helped on a bumpy road! Good luck your date is almost here. -
8 days out and I think I can consume to much.
Sai replied to blu2020's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yike! lolol I was tempted to try this but decided against it. Even though you didn't feel good after , thank you for sharing this. It helps even more than what the nurse told me. hehe -

I'm like this too. I called and asked one of the nurses, and she told me "That's exactly the way it should be." Many have problems and here I feel like I didn't even have surgery! She was actually ecstatic about my well being at this stage. I called after a few days, I'm on day 10 now. -
I smoked a pack a day for 20 years. I stopped when I went 911 in 2009. Before that I went to the ER every month due to lung problems, severe and ongoing bronchitis...etc. I switched to vaping shortly after my 911 episode. I've been a hardcore vaper now for over 6 years. In the 6 years I've vaped, I got the flu like only 4 times, never again to have bronchitis. For my band to sleeve revision surgery this year, I went through a serious of intensive testing. I passed with flying colors all my heart and lung tests, nuclear stress tests... etc. I was told that my chest x-ray was clear as if I never smoked, absolutely no scarring, no evidence of ever smoking. My blood and urine tests are all perfect. So congrats and glad you switched over. Vaping saves lives.

Homemade fruit infused Water, no sugar or sucralose added.

My absolutes are a food scale, an immersion blender, assortment of measuring spoons and cups, a Blender Bottle and my favorite item is the Zojirushi 16 ounce stainless steel mug to have ice Water or hot tea for home and travel. I use it as a fruit infuser too which makes the water so tasty. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

I'm about 10 days out. Your appetite will return after a few days, but either way just keep sipping your Water. Dehydration is a scary thing as you probably know. As far as Protein... What helped me is GENEPRO, it's a concentrated and purified medical grade Protein powder. One tablespoon in your water or tea will give you 30g of protein. What Is Your Biggest Guilty Pleasure? (Food or Not)
Sai replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
Not food related: Online shopping at Amazon. How I deal: I keep them in my basket for a long time, reviewing it often and then deleting the unneeded stuff. Hehe Food related: I love chips. How I deal: Mainly, I don't buy them anymore. If I do eat them, I limit myself to eat half to one serving and cut back on the rest of the day's food to stay in my calorie range. This past year, the guilt outweighed the yumminess though so that's why I just stopped buying them. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
Band to Sleeve people, how was your recovery?
Sai replied to Sai's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yep, us band to sleeve patients have it completely different. I haven't had any problems with eating or drinking anything, which disturbed me for months. I expected all the things I read on here - BIG mistake!! I don't have to chew a million times and I can chug Water just like before. Another thing, us revision patients lose SLOWLY as I found out only after surgery. My surgeon doesn't really have an explanation as to why this is, but he says it is indeed a fact. As far as the surgery itself and post op, I had quite a bit of pain because of my 2nd hiatal hernia repair. Sometimes I wonder what goes on inside of me, lol. Wish you well! Hope you have a little quicker weight loss than I am having. But it's still better than before Thank you for replying, and for the useful information, Susan! -
September 2016 Post VSG Updates
Sai replied to Shell Renewed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah, I was told to take them when I get home. I started the b12, Calcium, vit D plus that multivitamin daily patch. -
Yeah, I agree but I make my protein too easily but it's because my recovery has been much easier than most so point taken. I do put 30g of protein in everything, including my cream of wheat. Thanks!

When did you start doing poop?
Sai replied to rimmarrufo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seven days post op, then each daily so far. -
Since it's a liquid diet, I was told to have a meal every couple of hours. I begin when I first wake up with a half of a Protein shake. After a couple of hours, I will have some Miso Soup. I like the organic Red miso soup from Amazon with a tablespoon of GENEPRO Protein powder. I like Genepro protein powder because it mixes in hot and cold easily. I'm not too concerned about salt since we are low carb during this time period and low carb diets require more sodium. I go back and forth between the soup and the Protein Shake, changing the type of soup if I get tired of Miso. For example, strained fat free cream Soups like Cream of chicken, mushroom...etc. Yesterday I had a little bit of stage 2 baby food (Beechnut: Just apples & kiwi), it was really good and went down smoothly. Oh, and watered down Cream of wheat is really good at this stage too. Hope this helps.

I wish you luck. I hope you can get your approval and get your health back! *hugs*

Weight gain weight 10 days post op?

How long will my lap band last?
Sai replied to JuicyDew's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine for seven years without any real issues. I loved my band. Lost over a hundred lbs. and kept it off until the unfill for the sleeve surgery. My doctor suggested the revision to the sleeve because I had a dilated pouch for the second time. I could have just removed half the liquid and let my stomach rest for 3 months but I opted for the sleeve instead since my insurance covered the revision. I could've easily went the rest of my life with the band. The main thing is don't go too tight like I did. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
It took me quite a few visits to find my sweet spot where I could go 3 to 4 hrs between meals before getting hungry. You're doing great . Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
