  1. At day 4, I was good to go back too but didn't. I preferred relaxing at home reading this forum and other sources. It's an exciting time for me . Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  2. For me, real or stevia but no sucralose/splenda at all for years now. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  3. I actually have two incisions at the waist level to the left of my belly button... And my pants do rub there. I have to wear super baggy pants. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  4. Mine is to the left of my belly button. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  5. That a swollen stomach (i.e. Healing) and the extra acid your stomach produces (due to having a 80% removed) mimics hunger. My first week I was surprised when I felt hungry, but after looking it up, it was an "ahh, ok" moment and helped me deal with it better. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  6. Ah kk, thank you! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  7. Even though I agree that he is the only one that could change his ways, I think since your mom believes you are the only one that may be able to make him see the light, it's totally worth a try or two or three. I was close to my dad, and the only one that could talk to him too before he passed, and so I hold these types of relationships close to my heart. Perhaps tell him that you're worried about his health (which you are), and that WLS isn't just to lose weight but to get healthier and that you want him to be around as long as possible. I'm sure it's tough for you, and I hope you can help him. *hugs*

New to the forum from Dallas!

Welcome . I'm 3 weeks post-op band to sleeve revision, had the lap band before that for 8 years. I think the best way to deal with frustrations pre and post is to keep "hanging out" on the forum here. People are really nice & love to answer any questions. One can learn a lot just reading the forums on a daily basis. Best wishes on your journey. ^^
  9. So far not one restaurant honors my card.
  10. I was forced (yes forced lol) to buy 3 tubs of a certain type of Protein shake. They all contained sucralose, and I have stopped sucralose years ago. I gave them away, and used another. So yeah, I feel ya.
  11. Maybe show them lots of before and afters, and some videos from Dr. Alvarez (I didn't go to him but I love his videos hehe), and also let them see the reviews?
  12. Several different types of proteins out there, maybe switch to plant protein or another type that will go with your current tummy?

    Peeing

Wow, I wish I had that problem. I have the opposite with severe water retention which messes with the number on my scale. I agree, that is a great thing. Byebye toxins.
  15. I asked so many questions, and still do, I think they hate when I call them haha. In the beginning I asked: Size of bougie, do they remove the fundus completely, can I add ground flaxseed to my shakes (been doing that for years for fiber), how long do I stay in hospital, can you give me nausea controlled meds before i wake up, pre and post op diet calorie and carb goals, what will be my MTV (maximum tolerated volume) of my stomach after surgery, the drinking Water rule with Protein shakes... Too name a few o.O hehe Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  16. solid food or pureed, or both? I'm only 3 weeks out, and I can eat 1/4 pureed easy (unfortunately hehe). I have heard there is a huge difference between pureed and solid feelings of full. Thanks. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  17. I've been using GENEPRO for a long time, almost as my sole source, all my labs have been perfect (total Protein, Albumin/Globulin.. Etc). I couldn't find any independent data on the product as well, and have even wrote them. To purify Proteins through column chromatography is nothing new, nor is electrophoresis (I'm a protein purification scientist) but I really wanted to see some data but to no avail. Maybe they are worried another company will copycat them (understandably) but at least I can go by my labs. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  18. After 14 days, cleared to lift more than 25 lbs. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

    Drinking coffee?

I was cleared for coffee on day 1. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  20. Everyday, sometimes more... For years now. I started when I got my lap band in 2009 and haven't stopped /cry. I use the app Libra to input my number every day. It is only for weight data and gives awesome stats. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  21. I'm an advanced vaper (~6 yrs) so I'm out of touch concerning good starting kits. YouTube has some great reviews though, and if you watch a few, you may find the best system available right now for beginners. Pete Busardo, igetcha69 are the two most popular reviewer channels who are trustworthy in their reviews. Hope this helps. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  22. Took me five months from beginning to end. I had to do a sleep study, upper GI series, regular ekg stress test (bike), sonogram and later, a nuclear stress test with imaging, pulmonary and lung function tests, cardiac clearance appt, nutrition classes, endoscopy, pre-op blood and urine test (including nicotine test), and chest x-ray. There were a few times, I didn't think I'd ever see the end. They kept adding more and more tests... Every week during those months, I had to use one of my two days off to go take a new test. For me, it was trying times. In the end, I knew I was 100% healthy, and going into surgery, both my surgeon and I felt comfortable that my body was ready for a major and life changing surgery. Question

Sounds good, then it's definitely not calorie intake. I think it's just your body going through another adjustment period and the weight will continue to drop off. Probably holding on to some extra Water, for example. I asked because I know a few people who wondered why they didn't lose weight (lap band people), and although they weren't eating much, they were taking in tons of calories through liquids or slider food.

    Question

How many calories are you eating on a daily average? Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  25. I've reviewed a zillion post-op diets to compare them to my own, and not one has mentioned real food right after surgery. They all differ when it comes to pre-op diets but not the post-op diet for obvious reasons of safety. The removal of 80% of your stomach, the staples... Etc. is no minor surgery. Eating too soon would create catastrophic and grave consequences.
