As much as I love vaping, and how much better I feel since the switch years ago... If one can just quit cold turkey and never go back, that is just awesome. The money spent is real too. Lol coffee, a caramel green apple vape and knitting gives me the "Je ne sais quoi" daily pleasure. Thank goodness I never cared for alcohol, it makes me nauseous. For that I'm thankful. Wound opened

Same here. My main incision (after the staples were removed), isn't quite healing properly as well. The scab came out one night and to my surprise, it's about a 1/8" depth too. Looks like a deep gash and it's not quite healing, and the worse part is it's right at my waistline so my pants are irritating it. All my other incisions are healed almost completely as I'm on day 24. I've been putting lots of Neosporin on it and a big bandage over it, and I tried to call my doctor today but they are closed on the weekends. I'm going to call first thing tomorrow. I hope you can get yours fix and your cut improves.
  4. I'm a calm person by nature... Not many things bother me. I have so many hobbies and am constantly busy doing things I enjoy. I'm all about family and generally prefer a good book over company. I think WLS through the years taught me self-love more than anything. I am always hard on myself but easy on others... A perfectionist but only expect those standards from myself. So now thinking about, it has taught me patience in that regard. Great post, Alex. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Probably would be safer but like caffeine, some doctors say it's ok and others say no until your stomach is healed. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Ah yeah, I forgot about that. The first week, you'll be coughing, it's just your lungs expelling all the gunk that built up through the years of smoking. It gets better.

    Smokers

Was a pack a day smoker 6 years ago. I switched to vaping after some ER visits, the beginning of possible COPD, had terrible asthma. Once I started vaping, I never went to the ER ever again. In fact, because of the PG in my mixture (usually make my own), it's antibacterial. I think in 6 years I've had the flu a few times. Never got bronchitis again. I just had a zillion tests last few months to prep for my sleeve surgery: sleep study, Barium swallow, Endoscopy, EKG & Stress test, Echo cardiogram, Respiratory evaluation, Pulmonary function, Nuclear stress test and Nuclear Heart scan, Pre-Op blood and Urine work, Chest X-ray. Everything was perfect. The one that surprised me was my chest x-ray. They said my lungs were perfect and no sign of any damage from the past as well as my respiratory and pulmonary function tests were perfect. I was really happy but I kind of figured just because the way I feel vs the way I used to feel when I smoked. There is a great documentary concerning saving a billion lives (cigs to vape) that is just being released now. They have a FB page with the information #ABillionLives.
  8. Throughout the years with my band, I always had plenty of fruit and veggies in my diet. Every morning I had a fruit smoothie with fresh fruits and veggies. I also had the rule that if I got hungry, no matter what time, I could snack on a guava or blueberries... Etc. It worked out really well, weight-wise, skin & hair-wise, health-wise. Right now since I just had a sleeve revision, I have to focus on Protein and Water but as I progress, I'll eventually go back to my balanced diet. As of now, I make sure I get at least one serving of fruit in my morning shake, along with veggies blended in. If I don't have fruits in my diet, my weight stalls. With fruit, and under 1400 cal/day, I can consistently and easily drop weight. Right now I'm averaging only 600 cal/day and losing about the same but on so little food... So I look forward to more fruit & veggies in my diet again. That's just me though. Everybody is different. Whatever works hehe.
  9. I just made some cauliflower pizzas. They were very good. I didn't put any meat on the top, just made them with mozzarella cheesy goodness. There are a lot of recipes for them but here is one of them: http://weightwise.com/recipe-cauliflower-crust-pizza/ Here's the one I used. I just found it. http://barixclinics.com/blog/recipe-cauliflower-pizza/

    Stage 3. Purée

For my work, I have to travel a lot so the things I've had, depending upon the type of cuisine, are Soups (soft noodles are ok as per my nurse), oatmeal/cream of wheat/grits (breakfast), refried Beans with cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy... Etc. Anything mushy really. I've always been an a la carte girl, but even more so now. pureed phase isn't the healthiest phase but our focus is on protein/water at that stage.
  12. With the band, sometimes I had to wait over an hour. Then again, I was often too tight. With the sleeve, 30 min. is one of the main rules as per my nurses/surgeon.
  13. For me, having the band since 09 was enough for them. They just needed proof of any current issues with my band (minor but it was the 2nd time my band was too tight and my esophagus was dilated). Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  14. Back in 2009, I picked the lap band, but in 2016 my new doctor suggested a revision to sleeve. I am happy with his suggestion and am happy with the surgery so far. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Tiff, have you tried the Scop Patches (put it behind the ear)? I just saw it in the thread and it reminded me what they gave me before I entered surgery. It was for nausea. Maybe that'll work better. Just a thought. ~Sai

*I meant your recovery Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App No, but only because I told them that I have a history of being nauseous, motion sickness, car sickness, boat sickness, you name it hehe. What they did was prescribe me Ondansetron (dissolve in mouth tablets) so I took that every 4-6 hrs or as needed. It really really helped.I have those as well. I still have about 3 hours before I can take another Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Ah kk, that sucks. I hope you feel better soon... To me, nothing is worse than nausea .

    September Sleevers!

Hey September sleevers ^^ Had a 9/2/2016 band to sleeve revision. Other than the first day, it's been a good recovery. It's a totally different feeling than the band which I had for like 8 years, so it's going to take some getting used to but no complaints so far.

    September 22nd Sleevers

Band to Sleeve revision on the 2nd of Sept. so today is my post op day 22. I too had to climb stairs on the day I came home. I don't ever remember it lol, as I did everything in a daze that day. I had it done outpatient, check in at 5 am, surgery at 7am, released at 4 pm. Recovery has been good. Only tough day was the when I first woke up after surgery, and I felt like I got ran over by a truck or two or three. Day 2 I slept all day. Thanks for asking.
  21. I think the OP is long gone from the topic. It's now become fodder for the rest of us. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Ah, yeah I see she is posting other topics, but then perhaps someone new reading the question may get something of the post. The link is pretty good ^^ but thanks.

@Browneyedgirl41 Yes this do... and lol I never would have guessed that mom forums get nasty. haha omgosh.

The first forums I did were Disney related. New people always ask the same questions (when to go, where to stay, how to save money, should I take my kids out of school....) Veterans, of course, have answered those questions a million times so often newbies are ignored. I feel sorry for them so I try to answer. But then, when veterans answer, they don't always agree. Fights break out because of different opinions. Then of course there are Disney fans who don't want anything to change EVER and others who complain about every change, every price hike, etc. If you stick up for anything you are told to take off your "rose colored glasses". So dumb. Then we started homeschooling and homeschool mom forums, OH MY WORD. Talk about drama! Some of it has to do with religion and politics but lots of it comes from the "the way I do things is best that's why MY kids are awesome" category. Ugh. I left all of those groups years ago. I find that the larger the group sometimes the worse it is. I also think part of the problem is we can't see facial expressions, things often come across differently than what they were meant to mean. I avoid political forums but do read articles online and comments can be nuts.

@laceemouse Wow Disney forums too? lol I can see that though, my brother has had a Disney pass for yeeears. He's is one of those conservative classic Disney lovers, and like you said, he would be happy with the same Fantasia show forever if they played it lol. Great point about the new people always asking the same questions and after awhile their threads go unanswered. Now, I can see totally see how the mom forums can get nasty lol... The homeschooling debate can get crazy. I never had a kid so I've never visited one.

  24. Hi SDC, yeah, I guess you can guess that tacos at 3 weeks wouldn't be a good idea. Do talk to your nutritionist and/or surgeon when you can start incorporating solid foods on your plan. If there is anything one will learn on this forum is that there are huge differences between surgeons/nutritionists/people opinions. Some go low carb, others prefer balanced... blahblahblah. hehe Once you're cleared for solids, may I suggest some healthy taco recipes. I had the band for a long time (been a member since 2010), and often enjoyed healthy tacos. I just recently revised to the sleeve due to issues with the band, so I'm still in the pureed stage. So like you, no tacos for me. However, in the future, here are some ideas. Hope this helps. http://www.self.com/story/3-ridiculously-delicious-and-healthy-summer-taco-recipes
  25. I told everyone I'm having a surgery done and need time to recover but wasn't specific. Only one pushed for details (I think most are concerned about their own life and just hope you are safe and well), and I said to fix an old problem. No lies on my part. I've always been a private person by nature. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
