    Hungry

@rostersrm Whenever asked what is it that I wish I knew before I surgery, I always list that. Like you, I was asking myself "Wow, what is going on?" We do all heal differently so your hunger may drop off even sooner than mine or vice versa. Also, throughout the whole time, it may be excess acid on any given day, but being aware of this phenomenon. I think makes it easier for us to deal with. ^^

    Hungry

@@roostersrm Some aren't hungry and others are really hungry (more that they think they are hungry). When the stomach makes excess acid = mimics hunger or when the stomach is swollen/healing=mimics hunger). I was like you, I was so surprised I was hungry. About day 16 or day 17, my hunger disappeared. I find it really hard to want to eat now. My stomach's swelling must've gone down at that point. Just keep drinking tons of Water, and always take you 2x day prescribed antacid.

    3 month bloodwork

@@Shaunie That's great! I don't know why but I'm really excited to see my first blood work too. My pre-op for my band to sleeve revision was perfect, and although I feel really good (post op day 29), I so want to see another blood test to see how my body adapted to my sleeve. Congratz!
  4. Band to sleeve here. Sitting comfortably in an airplane seat and have lots of wiggle room, even sit criss-cross applesauce style on the long flights. I remember spilling over and the seat belt was all the way to the end. I always felt I had to sit by family so I wouldn't feel like I was imposing on someone's space.
  5. @@TheRev lol I had just posted the other day on some thread, that the day after weeks of pre-op diet and weeks of a liquid diet, when I was able to go to pureed/soft foods, I swear I felt like a straitjacket was removed. The freedom . Glad to see you feeling good. ^^ Glad I can edit. Autocorrect is never correct. lol

    September 2016 Sleevers!

I agree with the others. I find it very difficult to understand why your doctor said there is nothing he/she could do at this point. I would find another doctor/bariatric center who is willing to put in the appeal for you. Mine was denied and my bariatric center fought like crazy to get me approved.

Hey, now that I'm snooping around your page, I'm seeing this coffee topic for the first time. I drink coffee proudly. Years ago I got into the habit of using fat-free evap milk. I sweeten/flavor with SF choc syrup or vanilla extract, cinnamon & splenda. Now and then it's smething like SF gingerbread syrup. When I'm at a Starbucks for their coffee made by boiling rusted iron, I use 2% milk, splenda and the unsweetened mocha they keep on the station. I resent having to do all that cooking myself at Starbucks, given their prices and paper cup. I probably drink 4 or 5 mugs on an average day. I know, more info that you were wanting.

hehehe @WLSResources/ClothingExch I could talk coffee all day. lol I have never tried all those things. I just use my Keurig but that gets expensive too. I think it's great you drink that much a day. It's a superfood :D. @Shell Renewed I just saw this, boo notifications hehe. Any way to celebrate is good to me!

  8. Wow, such inspiration in this thread! I look at it this way, in 10 years, you'll be ten years older anyway. In 20 years, you'll be 20 years older anyway. Might as well do it now, and be healthy for the next 30+ years ^^

    Nicotine test

Mine required I stop all nicotine (smoking and/or vaping a month away from surgery). Just for reference, it took me 11 days of zero nicotine to clear. Just know they understand how difficult it is, and will work with you.
  10. @ Thank you ^^ and you're very welcome. I think I'll go make some coffee with creme with a tablespoon of GENEPRO. Have a great day all!
  11. @@kimini Thank you. Yeah, I love the product because before the sleeve, I had a band since 2008, and it was often way too tight and I couldn't get any solids down for months, just Soup. I was desperate because my total Protein... etc. was poor and I can't handle normal Protein shakes they are far too sweet for me. I started GENEPRO as practically my sole protein source during that time, and since then my protein labs are perfect (yay).
  12. I didn't lose much, if I don't have some kind of fruits/vegetables my weight stalls (everyone is different) or my body refuses to let go any of my Water. I suffer from edema. I didn't start multi-Vitamins until post-op. I'm post-op day 28 and for the first 10 days (liquid phase), again my body didn't want to release water at first. I didn't lose anything, I gained from the IV fluids. Now last time I checked I'm 26 lbs down. And like @@Montana Gal said, it's main purpose is to shrink your liver for a safer surgery.

    Incision Scars

When I got my lap band in 2009, it began fading at about 1.5 months and continued to fade for another year, basically till invisible. I read they continue to fade for about 2 years and after that, it stops. The incisions from my sleeve seem much larger with staple scars /cry but I just bought some mederma advanced, and I'll start using that. (If anyone has another product they swear by, please share )
  14. They are saying their 10g of special protein is equivalent to 30g whey. I believe this says it best about Genepro: Long story short, they are selling lies. Most likely they are selling BCAA's and calling it protein. Do yourself a favor and buy a reputable protein brand. Gold Standard is good brand. There are so many manufacturers that lie on their labels, you almost have to look them up and see how many lawsuits they have against them before you buy! If their process was true, every other maker out there would be following suit because it is such a cutthroat business. The fact that most retail chains refuse to carry it is evidence of the company's reputation. Not going to get into a debate about chemistry. I do that enough at work, but the weight argument is actually moot. There are scientific and clinical studies that have shown that when whey protein isolate is consumed along with ProHydrolase, amino acid concentrations in the blood increase by 20%, compared to consuming whey protein alone. I believe Genepro mention this on their product page and about the bio-availability is comparable to 30g of protein. There are several protein products that are involved in class actions, and Genepro, despite all of its competitors complaining about them hasn't been sued for product misrepresentation so until then, I'll continue buying the product because my labs suggest that I am getting my protein (Albumin/Globulin/Total protein blood test). Just my two cents.

    I'm a mess!

Hehe oh man, the pureed stage was like someone freeing me from a straitjacket. Just to have more choices helped me too. Glad you're feeling good . Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  16. Lots of good wisdom already shared. I'm on post op day 28 and pretty much a newbie when it comes to the sleeve but I do want to share with you about something I experienced. I was constantly "hungry" for awhile which confused me till I researched why. On day 16 or 17, my hunger suddenly dropped off. It was when the swelling in my stomach went down. As someone already explained, a swollen/healing stomach plus the excess acid your stomach produces due to being downsized by 80% mimics hunger. Now I'm so much more comfortable "hunger" wise. Did I eat too much?

I don't think you are eating too much. Some can only eat a little but they have to eat more often, others can eat more at one sitting and be full longer. I'm post op day 27 and according to my program, I should be striving for a 2-4 oz a meal in one sitting, and of course, always hitting my Protein goal & 64 oz Water. If I can't eat that much, I'm not suppose to stress about it...etc. Now, if you can eat 8 oz in one sitting without feeling full at 2.5 wks, then I'd be .

    Help

Enjoy the company , have your drink (ice tea or Water...etc) to sip on it while all of you hang out. They may not even notice since you'll be "drinking" at the same time. As far as food, I've found that most don't even notice if I barely touch my food. What they did notice was when I scarfed it in the past haha. Good luck, and just have fun. ^^

  21. Yikes, I don't think I could do that. hehe I'm not into sweets at all but pizza is another thing all together. I like it so much that I always make those low carb cauliflower pizzas. Lifesaver for my cravings.
  22. Nothing like waking up in the morning to a barfing cat /cry. I swear one of my cats are bulimic. I took her to the vet & there is nothing wrong with her. Poor kitty but poor me too.

One of my cats is a frequent puker and always tries to puke on the carpet. Whenever we hear the tell-tale HURK HURK HURK sound we run to move him to the tile floor and hold him there until he's done. Works great, except the one time he was just halfway sitting on the tile, and when I picked him up to face him towards the tile, he let go mid-turn and became a whirling cat vomit fountain.

hehehe @Fredbear I relate. Nothing in the world gets me to move faster than hearing that "hurk hurk hurk" sound. I actually search for an apartment/condo that had hardwood floors. It helps but then there is the bed, the bathroom rug, the living room rug... cry.

  23. I'm excited for you. There were three big days for me: 1) The day my appeal was approved. 2) My very last hoop to clear for surgery and 3) surgery day. You'll do great, just deep breathe. It is definitely normal to feel nervous and/or anxiety before any surgery. *hugs*

    Silly question

I'm a sleeve newbie although I read a lot to continue learning. I just saw a Dr. Alvarez video on this, and he said it'll eventually subside.
