@@jhayden1 Had a successful band for 7 years, and just recently revised to a sleeve (preventive more than necessary) but yes, unfortunately I remember those days before the first fill. Some people had restriction with just the band alone, unfortunately, I was not one of them lol. You'll also be having quite a bit of false hunger sensations and that's from the inside healing and/or acid. Congratz and am excited for you. I loved my band

When can I eat poke?!? Or sashimi?
Sai replied to carlacv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At the pureed or soft food stage. Fish is soft on the texture scale and is a great source of high Protein. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
Been really into Cauliflower pizza lately so for now this is my favorite recipe. http://damndelicious.net/2016/07/13/best-cauliflower-pizza-crust/

@@facebro29 After my first WLS experience (band in 2009), I stocked up on Gas X maximum strength strips for my recent sleeve surgery (post op day 35). I took it around the clock, and it helped a lot. Wasn't sure if you were taking something like this. Feel better soon.

How have your taste buds changed?
Sai replied to Leather'nLace's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I didn't care for sweets before the surgery, and now even the thought of biting into a cookie, for example, makes me nauseous. Is it because the surgery, not sure. It could've been from 4 weeks of nothing but "sweet" Protein shakes. -
Waiting 30 minutes after you eat also reduces the likelihood of bloating/gas. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Filled? Discomfort? Satisfied?
Sai replied to Leopard sleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In liquid and pureed phases, it was hard to tell since liquids flow freely through the sleeve, and it wasn't designed to stop liquids. With semi-solids to solids, it's completely different. Not so much filled, but satisfied, yes. I feel pressure in the back of the throat, sometimes pressure towards the back (around the diaphragm level). Once I took one bite too many, and I felt all clammy, dizzy and uncomfortable for about 20 minutes. -
I think she works out of Kim Bariatric too, as she did my endoscopy recently, and I'm with Dr. Holden. Dr. Hien Le? That's the group I am with. When is your surgery or have you already had it? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Sept. 2, 2016 , I'm post op day 34. I feel great btw. Checked in at 5 am, out by 4 pm. Out of it for Day 1 and 2 (sleeping), and from day 3 on, it's been an easy recovery. Knock on balsa wood haha.

Eating to cope with loss/ fill void
Sai replied to CVanPelt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was thin until 14 years old and then got sexually assaulted by a few "friends", within 4 years I put on about 125 lbs. First I dealt with is with anorexia, then I dealt with it with compulsive overeating. Basically the same thing, just switching seats on the Titanic, right? I went to see a talk therapist who helped me tremendously. She also introduced me to Overeater's Anonymous which helped me just as much, emotionally speaking. Something about that bonding and seeing others go through something similar regarding my eating disorder. I still go to OA meetings online off and on when I feel overwhelmed if I need to get my bearings. -
I'm getting violent without caffeine
Sai replied to mollydeez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have to quit. I was told to take moderate amounts, a cup or two a day and "just don't go crazy". It is a diuretic so just make sure you drink lots of water. Each doctor is different, some unfortunately are not up to date with most of the scientific studies (concerning caffeine, nicotine..etc.), or out of habit they hang on to what they have practiced for many years or perhaps somewhat paranoid (who could blame them with the medical malpractice suits).. Etc. -
Severe, excruciating pain (usually chest, shoulder, abdominal), racing heart, dizziness and a high fever. Sounds like you have gas pains, have you been taking your Gas-X strips or chewables? Those things save me hehe.

Combination of pain (shoulder, chest, abdominal), high fever and body chills. Those are the signs that all of us should never ignore. Hope you feel better.

Proof of weight loss attempts
Sai replied to nh-vsgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Proof of weight loss attempts
Sai replied to nh-vsgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For my revision they didn't ask since I already had the band for many years but for my band I remember having to just list all my diets like Weightwatchers, Jenny Craig, diet pills, hypnosis... etc. Anything I could remember off the top of my head that I tried in order to lose weight. -

Not "hungry", but hungry..?
Sai replied to mrssoupmix's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Forgive me if I repeat any of the other responses. I always check the threads off and on while I'm working. I had hunger but not really hunger up until day 16 or so. Swollen stomach, excess acid (the stomach makes excess acids due to having 75-80% removed) mimics hunger. Depending how fast you heal, that nagging hunger will finally subside. I don't have much of an appetite any more, and I struggle to begin eating anything for the day but it's a relief. There are supposed to be "waves" of this throughout the next few weeks/month as our bodies are adjusting to the major surgery. Just make sure you keep taking you antacid twice a day. Hope this helps! -
Stomach cramping & nausea.
Sai replied to ppstaab1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you get a prescription for Hyoscyamine for muscle spasms/cramps? It really helps. -

Having a hard time quitting smoking
Sai replied to amberb1979's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can buy ejuice with zero nicotine (just has pg or vg with flavoring). For me, it took 11 days vaping zero nicotine to pass. Everybody is different though, depends how much you vape (or smoke), how much Water you drink... etc. I actually bought nicotine testing strips from amazon months before to get an estimate. -
@@VSG1965 To be succinct, no it's not a common problem. Good your surgeon is up to date on your condition. I'd get a second opinion as well.

I couldn't have anything but liquids till week 3. pureed foods began at week 3. Pureeing it to a consistency of baby food (Literally. Ick, I know lol) is what I had to do. Instead of going back to liquid diet, perhaps trying pureeing it or trying some baby food, see if that helps. Your stomach is still swollen and therefore air gets caught up inside the tight tube while you're eating, the pressure you feel is the air having a difficult time trying to get out.

I know that everyone is different.
Sai replied to Alistmurf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Day 3 or 4, I felt really good with the exception of stomach muscular pain (like overworked ab muscles). After 7 years lap band, I had the band to sleeve revision which may be why for my speedy recovery. Decided to add this: I did have trouble feeling hungry and that bothered me, but after day 16 when my stomach swelling went down, the fake hunger feelings dropped off. Band to Sleeve people, how was your recovery?
