My program wasn't till week 3. Conservative ramp up, I know. I like being extra careful but to be honest. I kind of agree with the programs that move you a little faster through the stages. Their rationale is that mushies tend to be higher in calories, and they don't fill as quickly.

How LITTLE saline can be removed from band?
Sai replied to WLSResources/ClothingExch's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My original lap band doctor was so excellent. If I still was in the area, I think I'd still have the lap band. At first he'd put in like 1 ml or more just to get me to a good range, then he was very patient adding small increments 0.3 ml, 0.2 ml until it was perfect. I was a happy camper. Once I moved (moved to 3 different states in 5 years due to jobs) I had the hardest time finding decent fill doctors who filled new patients with such precision and patience (other than their own). I had to go through all the hoops of filling out paperwork, questionnaires...etc., sometimes physicals (ugh) just to get a fill. I actually went to my current surgeon (sleeve) to try to find a good adjustment under fluoroscopy, but that's when it was suggested I get a revision, so since my insurance covered it, I went for it. -
Night cravings have been an issue for me for a long time. What I did was set a timer (in one of my diet apps) about an hour before the pattern would usually begin along with some "emotional eating" quote. That would remind me to keep busy with my hobbies and/or work till I go to sleep.

That is also my first sign. If a small burp doesn't move it. It's definitely time for me to stop. I also get a runny nose.

What did you NEED to know from your docs?
Sai replied to recreatingcate's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked what size bougie do they use (mine doesn't use bougies but they use the endoscope instead). I also asked what percentage of the stomach they remove since doctors have different techniques and the size of my stomach would be at the end (MTV). Most of my questions were surgery specific questions. Other questions that weren't surgery specific was whether the 30-30 Water rule applied to Protein shakes (It doesn't). Hmm, what else? Calorie goals once I'm cleared for solid foods. How long I'd be at the hospital after surgery. Could they give me extra anti-nausea meds after surgery since I am prone to nausea anyway (and motion sickness) Things like that. -
It isn't. It's different with mushies. You'll see a huge difference when you get to solids and more dense food. I assure you .

Reading us September sleevers, it's really cool how we have all evolved . Most of us are cleared for all foods, Kind of cool thinking back on our pre-op diet... Etc. I get tickled easily so forgive me. ^^

After 48 hrs, I was told to remove the bandages, and put neosporin on every day to avoid infection. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

I tried one other (Tums Chewy Delights Very Cherry) and I didn't like them at all bleeeeh, so I bought the AlkaSelzer heartburn chews & I love them, and they work. They are my goto OTC for any time I have a sour tummy.

I hear ya. I never had it (but one night when my lap band was waaay to tight but I got it fixed the next morning asap), and when I got it after my EGD, it really surprised me. I called after a week and the surgeon said that it's cause my throat kept fighting the endoscope (although I was asleep), go figure lol. At the time, I thought it was going to be forever but it did go away, I was so glad. Sorry to hear your daughter had severe GERD, good to hear she is off the meds now. You're right that unless we go through something ourselves, we just don't know how bad things are until we experience it. It was horrible...
-
Yes. It took 2 to 3 weeks for it to go away. I just got some otc alka seltzer chewables and took them before I went to bed or when needed. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Anybody 4-5 days out feeling hungry?
Sai replied to mr1121's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt hungry for the first 2 weeks. Head hunger, acid mimicking hunger...etc. It dropped up big time on day 16 or 17. There is a great video on youtube by Dr. Weiner about head hunger. Dr. Alvarez has a good one too concerning a swollen stomach and how affects you physically in the beginning weeks. -
How Did You Get Through the Pre-Op Diet?
Sai replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Hmm... First of all, it was by far the most difficult part of my journey so far. Some of the things I did was the following: Adding flavor extracts to make shakes. My favorite was the banana extract (Frontier makes an awesome one). Drinking all the shakes that my doctor asked me to drink, when I skipped, it made it a lot harder. Drinking low-sodium broth once a day to offset the sweetness of the shakes. Made popsicles out of my shakes, each popsicle was a different flavor so I wouldn't get tired of the flavor. (If you don't mind sugar-free things, there are sugar-free popsicles and Jell-O.) -
When did you have your first stall?
Sai replied to elle2769's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 10 days of my surgery. My weight did not change at all. My body likes to hang on to every single drop of water, I swear ugh. Since then I'm going on wk 7 and no stalls as of yet. -
@@rolosmom7 ah hehehehe... Yeah, I haven't tried mixtures. I just usually use watermelon, lemons, green apple or strawberries. I should try a mixture though. Someday

Great share. I am into martial arts as well. I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I was a healthy fat person too. When I won the black belt kata at the LA open (at 200+ lbs), the person who gave me the trophy whispered in my ear how happy he was for me and for "a girl your size" you did great. o.O Thanks for the share Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
What to do when you a test for something sweet
Sai replied to baby girl pa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After weeks of liquid diet, I still get nauseous thinking about anything sweet but my favorite treats are superfood fruits. They contain so much more than just Vitamins. They have Fiber, minerals, antioxidants, phytochemicals and a whole slew of benefits for your skin, hair, and body health. Can't get all of those in a pill. Hehe I have a juicy pomelo in my refrigerator right now that I think I'll have a few slices for Breakfast with some cheese. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
I love making fruit infused Water especially watermelon. It's healthy, it's zero calories and carbs but you get that wonderful taste. There are a lot of recipes on the net. I used to buy it but it got expensive so I bought a fruit infuser water bottle. I've always been sketchy about anything with artificial sweeteners so I never went that route. I've read too many scientific studies concerning sucralose and microflora. Another favorite drink is homemade milk kefir with berries blended in it... But that's not for hydration purposes but for daily Probiotics. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

I had thought it was another doctor, like my situation. My family doctor insists I keep taking Triamterene daily for edema, and my bariatric surgeon says no. It's like a tug o war. Lol Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
