Hate sugar free stuff. What do I do?
Sai replied to Ssze1109's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't eat artificial sweeteners either so I mainly did what the others suggested. I used unflavored protein powder, however, after researching all protein powders out there, I did find one that didn't have sucralose, and I tried a sample of it. It's pretty good, it's called Orgain Organic plant based protein powder in Creamy chocolate fudge, and if you don't mind Stevia (plant based sweetener), you can try that one. It was a little on the sweet side so I watered it down some but I don't have a sweet tooth. -
My only stall so far is the first 10 days or so after my revision to sleeve. I chalk it up to water weight due to IVs, body adjusting... blahblahblah hehe. After that the weight is steadily coming off. Just meet those protein and water goals, and you'll be fine.

A good kitchen food scale. I also recommend a pocket scale, Amazon has some really good ones that are not expensive. The latter really comes in handy when I travel. I carry that around with me everywhere since I go out to eat a lot due to work meetings... Etc.

LOLOLOL oh my gosh @@Moogle in a raid yet hahahahaha....

Your weight loss is great but your unrealistic expectations will set you up for failure in whatever avenue you take in life. 20 lbs in 19 days is awesome, and many here wish they had that type of weight loss despite doing everything right. Take it day by day, focus on Protein and Water intake, journal what you eat and exercise a little every day, and the weight will come off. Congratz on your weight loss rate.

@@proudgrammy @@CLK You just don't know how much both of your posts calm me. I keep it positive 90% of the time but sometimes I worry that one day, I'll wake up and there will be zero restriction. I actually had a recent nightmare about it lol. I didn't know I worried about it till I had the nightmare so it's back there in the recesses of my mind. Thank you both so much. Both such an inspiration. @@ma08 Great question. Thanks! ^^

6 weeks post op. What should I be eating.
Sai replied to Coley831's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 5 weeks, my program said I no longer had any restrictions. I could eat whatever I want as long as it's tolerated. They go into trying one new food at a time so if my stomach gets upset then I'll know what type of food gives me problems... Etc. My nutritional guidelines they gave me are as follows: Calorie goals: 800-1200 cal, 60g Protein Multi-Vitamin that contains 200% of daily value of most nutrients and 100% Iron, 1200-1800 mcg Calcium citrate daily B-12 500 mcg daily or 2500 mcg weekly Optional for me since I wasn't low in any of these Vitamins (but I take them anyway): 2000-5000 IU Vit D daily 2-4 grams fish oil daily -
7 weeks post op! Problems eating!
Sai replied to AMS115's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved around the same time. That doesn't sound normal at all. I hope your doctor figures out the problem. The only time I felt something similar is the first week I went to solid foods, and took one bite too many. I never did that again. It was that bad. -
Why is everyone converting from band to sleeve?
Sai replied to futureskinnybtch's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hadn't heard of the sleeve before I was banded, and this is kinda why I chose the band. I hadn't had a child. I had actually been told I couldn't but was still holding out hope....which is good because I now have a soon to be 4 year old, lol... In any case, I was scared that if I was pregnant I would not be able to nourish my child as well with RNY. I know lots of ladies do, but it was still a concern for me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App Same here. In 2009, the sleeve wasn't the "go to" surgery as it is today, but I believe just a first step towards a multi-stage procedure. If it was available back then, I'm pretty sure I would've gone for it but the marketing back then concerning the lap band was amazing. It wasn't till years later that the stories of complication arose. -
@@Nikkinee Yes, I actually made a topic in the Band to Sleeve revision asking if those that had the band to sleeve find themselves to have an easier recovery. By day 3, I felt normal except for muscular pain like one would feel if they had done too many sit ups. Only bad time was the first 4 hrs after my surgery, then I slept on Day 2. I chalked it up to having the most awesome surgeon but I'm seeing it time and time again. I can tolerate all foods, and right away I could drink water like crazy.

@ Wow's latest update is far better than the last expansion. Of all games, I have to exercise control not to play it too often, otherwise no work is done haha. @@Moogle I always said that if I played wow when I was in graduate school, I would've never graduated. I'm dead serious about that lol. Warlocks are OP right now. I play a shadow priest and priests are much stronger this time around . @@OzRoo I'm on Steam but I usually play offline because I hide out from one particular friend who rather talk about his problems than play haha. You know how it is when you're really thinking of strategy and someone rather talk than "play". I wish I could just hide out to that one friend and let others see me but I can't. hehe

Totally embarrassed by bodily functions

Hmm could it be you're lactose intolerant or something in the type of shakes you're drinking is incompatible with your system? Maybe you can switch to another type of shake... -
Friends and family reaction your wls surgery
Sai replied to xoxococojay's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I told two people who I trust, mainly because just in case of an emergency. I find my support here, among those who are thinking about it or have done it. As much as I love my family, my life is my own, and to be successful in anything, you can't have negativity surrounding you. I can cut toxic people out of my life, but can't do that to my family so it's better left unsaid. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
If it was the right side, I'd say go to the ER (appendicitis) but since it's the left, it's probably gas. Everytime I eat a certain Soup, I'd get the same pain. Mine was a sharp pain and hurt when i took a deep breath. Glad you're calling your surgeon tomorrow though. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Gastric Sleeve Experts... Please Chime In!
Sai replied to lillita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am over a year and a half post-op and if I do eat too much I know. It happens less often as I am learning and listening to my body, but it does happen on occasion. Reminding myself to slow down and eat mindfully really helps. Thank you, thank you . I was anxiously awaiting an answer. Good to know. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App -
Gastric Sleeve Experts... Please Chime In!
Sai replied to lillita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do any of you vets who have been following your program (i.e. healthy foods not slider foods), do you still get the same "one bite too many" warning, or does that disappear? Thanks in advance! -
Thanks @@Sai! I just ordered my first pair of footed PJs since I was a little kid, butt flap and all! "Those are cute as can be on a woman. Not so much on a man..." Bah! There are mens' styles. I double dare you (edited because autocorrect is never correct /cry)

Feel like such a failure...
Sai replied to Unhappysleever's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Great comments on this thread . You're not a failure, a failure would not log in and tell their story, nor would they even try to figure out how to get back on track. They say nothing, and do nothing. -
Genepro Unflavored Protein
Sai replied to KristenLe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Basically Genepro's competitors do not understand the idea of purified Protein (getting rid of all the waste) and the addition of prohydrolase to increase protein bioavailability. Many of the competitors that are "complaining" about GENEPRO are themselves under a lawsuit for spiking their protein powder. -
I had no idea that there were online OA meetings! I tried to go to a local one a few months ago, but lost my nerve. I need to look into this option! Throughout the day and night too. Here is the main link that lists all of them. Just select your time and your options. https://oa.org/find-a-meeting/?type=1

@@ZinNH I'm a little over 2 months post op, and what I've found is that during the day, I have to eat every 2 to 3 hrs anyway because I can't eat more than 3-4 oz at a time. It's true that the slider foods are the same with the band and the sleeve... High calorie liquids, chips, cake... Etc. However, for me, I am finding it is far easier, less willpower needed, choosing healthy foods. I had to exercise a LOT of willpower when I had the band not to eat slider foods. For years, I'd get stuck on an healthy things. For example, I can munch an apple now and enjoy all the nutrition it gives my body. I can eat anything I want but just much less of it. It's like a normal stomach but much smaller. If you go one bite too many, one will feel absolutely miserable. I did that once and haven't came close to it since. It was that bad. Fast heartbeat, nausea, almost like having a heart attack. Everybody gets different symptoms though. As far as head hunger, we all suffer from it, but the removal of ghrelin does help the cravings, and in turn, you naturally make better decisions. I think it's important to have it done with success on your mind. I miss my band sometimes (I had a successful band with little complications except a finicky sweet spot was annoying, expensive and time consuming) but no regrets. I've known quite a few with food addiction, and after the sleeve they also see a therapist and they are successful. I personally go to online OA meetings (Overeaters Anonymous) when I start feeling those unwanted feelings of obsession with food.

One thing you do to set up your day in a positive way?
Sai replied to _Kate_'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Every morning, I like to weigh myself, log it, then review what I ate the day before in my food log (calories/carbs/fats/nutrition). It helps me stay focused... Then I usually follow it up with a good cup of coffee. -
I know I know don't weigh. Just curious ...
Sai replied to laura1116's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first week (I think 10 days) I didn't lose a pound yet taking in only 300-500 cal/day. It's just your body retaining Water or adjusting to the major surgery, try not to let the scale dictate your moods. I know it's hard in the beginning... I weigh every day, although I totally understand those who do not. I started on June 17, 2009 when I first got my band surgery, and look at my log/charts often. Just for myself, I feel if I don't, then I'll lose track like before when I creeped up to almost 300 lbs (probably more because I didn't ever weigh myself ). It's just a friendly reminder that I care about my health.
