  1. You will be fine and you are in good hands. My friend's mother had the band performed by your surgeon and spoke very highly of him. Honestly, most of us have 'failed miserably' with our weight for many different reasons. Be proud that you, as well as everyone else here, are confronting this and making a change to better our lives. I do an online radio show as a hobby and Im constantly giving this advice to friends and listeners who struggle with problems. Please relax and realize that after tomorrow, your life will change and for the better. It wont be easy, but what ever is. Not to mention you'll have so much support on these boards. I've only been on here for 2 weeks and Im amazed at the positive vibes and support. So many success stories are on these boards and they have me psyched about my surgery. I wish my surgery was tomorrow, but its not for another 5 weeks. What has also impressed me here, is the number of people who lost all their weight, yet still find the time to try and consistantly help others here. It's a breath of fresh air. I expected to be just an observer on the boards and not write much. It's hard not to try and help others when there is so much support being offered back. I started my preop 8 weeks before to get a head start with my weight loss. The idea was to have shakes for Breakfast and lunch, as well as in between meals. dinner would be a very light meat and salad. Even though I've dropped some weight, I blew it several days with Italian food and ice cream. I realized being mad isnt going to change what I already did. So I just tried harder the next day. No matter how much you get mad at yourself, cry, worry, stressed about your preop diet, it's not going to change what you did up until now. Just relax, get back up and try harder next time. You will be fine. And good luck with your surgery.
  2. In a way, I would have rather gone thru what you did. Me, I had my first consultation 7/28/2010, and got my surgery date the same day - October 7  I didnt want to have to wait nine weeks for the surgery, and I was going to keep calling in case of an earlier cancel, but didn't. The only good thing out of this, was that I started weaning off the 'good food' earlier - well for at least one meal a day.
  3. I wanted to pass this along since most of us here are in the Preop stage. With my surgery being about 5 weeks away, I wanted to get all my Protein and Vitamins ready now. I went on GNC's site tonight and they have two nice sales going on right now. They are currently running a promotion for the Isopure drinks; buy one get the 2nd half off. I ordered 4 dozen for a total of about $150 (2 @ 49.99 + 2 @ 24.99) I actually was going to buy more Isopure, until I stumbled on the Designer Whey® Protein Blitz. They are currently offering buy 1 get 1 free. So I purchased 24 bottles for $36.99. I havent read any reviews here on this drink, but i ordered the Orange Mango and Fruit Punch. If anyone has ever tried either flavor, Im curious how good (or bad) they are .

    How did you do it????

Although I dont recommend the way I did it, Im sure many have done the same. I went on the patch and smoked while on it. At first Id smoke 1/2 cigarette then get nauseaus and put it out. Then it would be 1/3. Then just a few puffs. I quit in 2 weeks and didnt even realize I had stopped the first 2 full days. I just didnt want to light up anymore. I kept the patch on for another month and that was it. I had smoked since I was 15 and now 8 years smoke free.
  5. I love Dar's opening comment because that was why I told several people. I cannot take it back. And I cant let myself or them down as well. The funny thing though, is almost every person (except my parents) has told me 'I dont need it', 'Im not that heavy', 'You can do this with just dieting' etc. What's even funnier, is my rhetort to them. I ask them how much do I think I weigh? The responses so far have ranged between 250 and 290. When I tell them 355 (well 337 now), they think Im lying. The best one was from a female friend who said to me that Im 'big boned', and would look sickly if I went under 250. However, once they realize how focused I am on having this done, everyone has been 100% supportive. I get banded on October 7th.
  6. Even though my BMI is 42, I wore my timberland shoes that weigh about 3 pounds on their own. They made me take them off before weighing
  7. Just wanted to say hello to everyone on the site. I'm set to be banded October 7 from Dr Vohra (Long Island, NY) and looking forward to it. I was going to remain mostly a lurker on the site. But with so many people here giving support, ideas, and advice, Id be rude not to be part of it. Not to mention all the info I found here already. BTW, kudos to everyone who have had the surgery and showed success. It's funny how my past was echoed by many people here. They convinved me that I made the right choice to finally have this done.
  8. Ah New Park. I plan on having a few slices before Im banded. Ive never been to West Virginia, but Im sure it's nice. And as far as the site goes, thats what put me over the edge in deciding to get banded. So many positive stories and information. I have two months to go before Im banded; so Im gathering as much information now as possible.
