Very confused about lapband and reason for it
Knaroz replied to seeme1954's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Another reason some people need "no fills" is that their doc when the surgery is done instead of just leaving the primer fluid only in (usually less than 1-2CC) they go ahead and fill the band up halfway or more. Therefore it is like having your first 3-5 fills from day one. Personally I think this is silly and dangerous as there is LOTS of swelling going on after surgery and you need all the room you can get. I personally know someone that couldnt even handle the primer fluid and had to go back in after being released to have the barely 1cc of fluid that was leftover in the band sucked out before they could even keep spit down. -

Anyone Losing More Than 50% Weight
Knaroz replied to ashleysuzanne84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost a WEE bit more than 50% lol. I actually lost more than 50% of my starting weight. My Dr actually had told me before we started he was afraid this wouldnt work for me just becuase of my size that I might need to do the gastric but I didnt want all the plumbing rerouted lol. So I worked hard, followed all the rules, got my fills, and today I weight LESS than how much I have lost (weight around 194 lost over 225 lbs). When I started my Dr sat down with me for our "goal" session. He said where would you like to be in 2 years. At that time I was hovering around 400lbs. I said "I would like to see 250 when this is all said and done" he said "son I just dont see that happening, how about lets say 275". Now I go to seminars with him lol -
Is This Normal Or Should I Call The Doctor?
Knaroz replied to Banditiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally I would not be gulping anything and DEFINITELY nothing cold. I remember when I had my surgery I was told for those first few days to drink no more than a medicine cup (about 1-2oz) at a time, sipping it slowly and the warmer the better. Guess as we learn every doc is different. For the next month or two it is still going to be all will power, you have no restriction except from any swelling from the surgery. Focus on healing and trying to make yourself reduce your portion sizes, it will do nothing but help you after the fills start and also will help keep ya from setting yourself up for sticking issues later. Good luck and welcome to the band...err club lol... -
I did, for a while almost 2 years. But I have gotten lax and started drinking a bit more caffeine (currently working almost 90 hours a week due to overtime so gotta stay away somehow lol)

Simply Thee Best Tip For Lapband Success (From A Guy Who Lost 265Lbs)
Knaroz replied to marketingdude's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great words, too many people think the band is an "easy button." It is a TOOL, just like a treadmill, it won't do a dang thing for ya unless you respect it and learn every day how to use it for YOUR benefit. I see so many people complaining that their doc is to blame. People that is just like blaming the maker of your treadmill for not helping you lose weight when you never step one foot on it. Research. Research. Research. -
Curious About Weight Loss Results
Knaroz replied to justme565's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah almost 2 years out here and down 225 lbs. But I am a guy we tend to lose a bit faster (sorry lol). It is all about how much you are willing to put into it, how strict you are about your diet, how well your follow your nutrition plans, how much you exercise, making sure you keep going regularly to your doc to monitor fills etc. Lots of steps, but DEFINITELY worth it!! Good Luck!!! -
Two Lovers, Trying To Meet, But Something Stands In The Way...
Knaroz replied to SashaWLS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
if i had to guess it was probably the bit of potato swelling in your band area vs the eggs. Potatos of any kind other than mashed are a real problem for me -
Very true always remember it is a tool, not an "easy button" you still gotta work it lol. Gratz on the P90x I am looking at it for future "abuse" lol

My other person favorite I hear just as much as this "so now that you are skinny are you gonna have them take it out so you can eat normal again"
-
Are you on blood pressure pills? I was preband and after being banded with the weigh loss it was causing my blood pressure to drop very low especially when I stood. Just something to think about if not then very possible it is just your body coping with your new tool and it's new nutrition. Good luck!!
-
there is no way you are dehydrated taking in a gallon of Water plus your shakes. It is more probable that the shaky feeling is just your body trying to cope with the sudden decrease in calories. Make sure you are already taking your Multivitamins if you are already seeing hair loss as you are losing a lot of Protein and it will be close to 2 - 3 weeks before you start getting decent amounts back into your system. Good luck!

Question! **warning: Kind Of Gross Questions!!**
Knaroz replied to KassieRose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know you are eatting solids but remember that most of the solids we eat now have to be low fiber, this will also cause looser stools until your body adjusts. Still wouldnt hurt to check your temp, low grade temp you might have the beginnings of a stomach bug but I think it is just your body tell you thank you for the best decision you ever made -
Band Friendly Alcoholic Beverages.
Knaroz replied to Carolinegee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just be very careful and after you drink the wine try to drink a good amount of water to flush the pouch out. I would be a bit worried about letting the acidic wine sit in a fresh pouch. Could cause some irritation. -

Help!! I'm Eating Way Too Much!!
Knaroz replied to skintyprincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Beating the dead horse but yes the first fill unless it is massive (which is a bad thing personally) shouldnt really cause you any restriction. You want to do it slowly, you need to train yourself to eat right BEFORE you reach restriction for the best results. Because if not when you do hit restriction, you will possibly overeat and end up throwing up all the time which can make things worse. REMEMBER: You didn't get this way overnight, it takes time and work.. RETRAIN. RETHINK. IMPROVE. -
The Ten Commandments Of The Lap Band....
Knaroz posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found this years ago, and while it sounds crazy, I always listen to what it says lol. 1. Thou shalt consume thy Protein first, followed by thy veggies and fruits. If thou, then hast any room left thou shalt comusme thy carbs lastly! 2. Thou shalt take the tiniest of bites, placing thy fork and thy spoon upon thine table, that thou shalt have more time between bites to savor that which thou hast eaten, and allow thy stomach adequate time to inform thy brain of thine fullness. 3. Thou shalt chew and chew and when thou has done so, thou shalt chew some more, lest thy band rise up and smite thee, causing in thy chest great pain, and spewing forth. 4. Thou shalt drink of thy Water, copiously, consuming all that has been recommended to thee, that thou mayest be spared the pangs of hunger and dehydration, and thou shalt thus, also keep thy kidneys well flushed, that thou shalt not develop stones to aggrieve thee. 5. Thou shalt exercise in a manner that thou mayest choose, of thine own accord, providing that thou art faithful to thine execise regimen, that thou shalt not falter on thy journey to thine smaller self. 6. Thou shalt honor thy band and maintain it well, that it shalt be a steadfast friend to thee throughout thine entire life. Thou wilt, from time to time, as thou hast been told, obtain for it the fills that it needest that it may then help thee in thy hours of need, keeping it always in perfect adjustment for thine benefit. 7. Thou shalt not worry and gnash thy teeth, becoming aggrieved at those times when thy losses seemingly stop and thy weight remaineth constant, remembering then that thou tookest long to acquire thine pounds, and that thy pounds must then take time for loss. 8. Thou shalt maintain a log or dairy of thine measurements, that thou mayest truly perceive the effect of they band when thine scale doth pause in it's downward progress. 9. Thou shalt join into and participate within thy local support community, for without the input, experience and love of they fellow bandsters, thou shalt have a much more difficult time in thy journey, and when thou art well upon thy road, thou shalt then likewise assist those who followest in thine footsteps that they too might be successful in their own diminishment. 10. Thou shalt beware of thine " soft calories syndrome", keeping always in thy mind that thou canst thus sabotage thine efforts and thine investment and lead thee then therefore into depression and guilt. As once stated "Just because thou canst, it meaneth not that thou shouldith". -

Very true also depends on if you have the hernia repair or not. I was close to 400 lbs and had the 10cc band but no hernia, my ex was around 260 but she had a hernia repair and ended up with a 14cc band. Up to your personal situation. -
