    Removal due to slippage

I had my band done in 2011 and lost about 60 pounds over the first 2 years. Now I have gained back most of my weight , have pain in my stomach and back, along with acid reflux. After having all the Fluid removed and no help they finally did x-ray and my band has slipped. I'm scheduled to have my band removed next month 3/2017 since I'm having issues. I was thinking about getting the sleeve but a little worried since the band wasn't the greatest. Anyone had their bands removed? I have read about scar tissue and issues and I'm wondering!

    So Sad And Depressed!

Hi Everyone, It's been awhile since I've been on and posted. I was banded 20 months ago 1-11-11 and have loss 62lb. I have to say it is and continue's to be a struggle to lose. The first year I loss about 40 pounds. I too was constantly weighing and not happy when I didn't loose. I have finally gotten to the point were I'm happy with my weight loss and if I loose more that will be O.K. I'm not really on a diet at this point I watch what I eat and eat ALOT LESS for sure. I think our body's get to a point were it just doesn't feel like loosing anymore and we stall out. My doctor told me it would about 3 years to get were I want to be. I think he is right! For me getting to the right fill point (5cc in 10cc) is important I've been overfilled and it's not fun. You are on the right track it just takes time..

    Throwing Up... What Is Normal?

I had a hard time when I first got my band 1/20/11. I couldn't eat or drink anything because it was painful. I did throw-up a few times. I called the doctor and went in on a saturday to get checked. The bands are suppose to be empty but mine had 4 cc and the swelling made it impossible to eat. I would get it checked it sounds like it has to much fluid. Good luck!

    I'm just not losing weight

The weight loss does seem slower for some than others. It's been 90 days for me and I'm down 30lbs which is great BUT. I have to let you know most of the weight loss was the first 45 days then just a few pounds. I'm not going to get discouraged yet. I still have alot of things to learn about the band I have already experienced being to full and getting sick so I dont want to go there. I had my 90 day appointment on the 14th of April and according to my doctor I have lost more weight than the normal. The normal is 1 pound a week so 52 pounds a year WOW I was shocked about that and if you are severely overweight it could be 2 pounds. I was hoping on a few pounds a week and 10 per month but that isn't working for me. I just ordered a eliptical machine hoping that will make a difference. I think the key word is PATIENCE.. If January 11, 2012 doesn't find me down 60 pounds I'm going to be pissed..... Good luck to all.

6 days since lap band surgery - ahh

I'm 3 months out and my port site is still sore it has gotten better. I got pain with a sip of water and loss 11 lbs in 4 days by the 5 I was starving and couldn't take the pain so I called the doctor. He met me on a Saturday and checked my band. Come to find out I have 4 cc of fluid and the swelling combined was causing my problems. He removed all the fluid, bands come with some fluid according to the doctor and mine had a little much. I would get it checked so you can eat and drink something without pain and have a successfull beginning... Good luck to you..

    4 months out

I have to agree 40 lbs is great. I was banded 1/11/11 and I'm down 29 lbs yea... You dont want to get were you are restricted and have to barf when things get hung. I have been there several times and it is not fun. I'm at 4 cc and I can really feel the restrictions. I have to think about everything I put in my mounth. I take a bite a wait for several minutes and then try another bite. This is definetly a journey and a whole new way of eating. I'm glad for the weight loss but when you get stuck and are in a restraunt with a wait line in the ladies room and have to barf in the sink it's not a pleasant experience. Good luck to everyone....

    ?Clogged? / Shoulder Pain

I to am 3 months out 1-11-2011. I have lost 29 lbs and keep bouncing back and forth a few pounds. I have had 2 fills and 1 unfill. I get alot of restrictions at time and not others also. The pain is what I consider restriction and getting stuck. I have had several episodes of food getting stuck and having to throw it back up to relieve the pain. You dont want that feeling it can be rough expecially if you are in a restraunt. I dont know why sometimes food can go down easier than others. It happnens to me also and it can be the same food one day is ok the other it hangs. I have learned that if I get even the slightest feeling of pressure to stop eating. I have never gotten a full sensation satisfied to a point were I can keep my self from eating more but I do eat more than the 1/2 to 1 cup of food on most days.

    How do you know??

I have so many How do you know questions. I was banded 1-11-11. I lost 11 lbs in 4 days manly because I was to tight. I couldn't get much down without pain. Went to the doctor and had all fluid taken out of band. I had my first fill on 2-23-2011 4cc in a 10cc band. At first I could eat anything and no problem now a few weeks out I've had quite a few episodes with food getting stuck and have thrown up 2 times. MOST times I can eat alot more than 1/2 a cup.. Do I need a FILL?? How do you know if you have the right restrictions? When food gets hung? I'm still hungry after most meals but get uncomfortable while eating at times. When you get the hiccups is that a sign of full even though I'm not? I'm down about 19 lbs in less than 2 months which I think is good BUT most of that was the first 4 days.. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

    The weighting game

Boy can I relate.... I was banded January 11th. I loss 11 pounds in the first 4 days.. But I was miserable I couldn't get down water I was so tight. Had 4 cc taken out and still had some food getting hung. I dont understand yet what people are talking about restriction is this food getting hung and wont go down?? I'm only down 19 lbs as of today. I also started at 260 and weigh between 239 and 241. I did get a fill of 4 cc on 2/22/2011. Seems like alot but my doctor said I had some air in my band about 2 cc and that is why he gave me 4 cc. I have good days and bad. Some days everything gets hung. Again is that the restriction?? I constantly weigh but starting this week. I'm going to 1 day a week and see if that makes a differences in my outlook.
  10. I'm 4 weeks out from surgery and my port area is still really sore. I cant sleep on my side or stomach it is just to painful. I even notice that if my pants get to close and rub it is very irritating. Has anyone notices this? My husband and I were banded on the same day 1-11-11 and he doesn't have pain at his port site. I loss 12 lbs the first week and nothing since then. I started this week drinking alot more fluids to see if that may help since I know I wasn't getting in the 64 oz which is very hard since you cant drink 30 min before and after a meal......
  11. shifflett00

    Perfect fill

By seeing a big difference do you mean that you get full quick? But most of all does anything get stuck?? I just got my band Jan 2011 and had 4 cc in with was a mistake and everything got stuck and it was misserable. I have nothing in my band now and go for a fill on the 23rd. I dont want to have that awful feeling of every bite sending me to my knees.

    Feeling the Pain ...

I really can relate to the pain and it is no fun. I know everyone wants to loose weight but the band as my doctor tells me "isn't suppose to be used for punishment:" . You should be able to eat without having major pain from just a few bites. I lived with it for a week and couldn't stand the pain anymore and the hunger so I had fluid taken out of my band. I haven't lost a pound in 3 weeks and go back 2/23/10 for a fill. Not sure how much if any. This is really alot harder for me than others. My husband also got the band the same day and he is doing so good. He has loss 40lbs in 3 weeks. He doesn't get hungry so he eats and makes really good choices and only east a small amount. I stay hungry and still make good choices but havent loss but 8lbs and that was the first week after surgery. OH well hope it gets better..

    Feeling frustrated

I can see your getting discouraged as I would to. Have you talked this over with your Dr.? I'm only 13 days out have been bounding back and forth my self. I read were other have loss large amounts of weight but you have to realize some others may have alot more to loose that others. My husband was banded on the 11th along with me and he has he down 30 lbs in 2 weeks were I'm only about 7lbs, but he is 100lbs more than me. I've read so much about protein, protein and more protein being the key and being a newbie I'm not sure but I'm going to try to add more protein to my food intake. I wish you well as all us bandsters do. I think the lapband is a tool but not a quick fix and hopefully we will look back in a year at our blogs and laugh at our frustation when we too are down 50 to 100lbs.
  14. Yes I'm the one that was complaining last week I couldn't get anything down... Now I can get anything and everything down and I'm having a hard time trying not to eat. I'm on the mushy food stage now. I never feel like I'm full. I'm making good choices in the food area but I have gained back 4 of the 11 lbs I lost last week. I'm stitting at my desk eating cottage cheese and ground up pneapple about 1 cup. I go to the doctor next week but I dont think he will give me a fill since he had to take out 4 cc from my band on Sunday. I'm looking for the green zone I hear about so often so this hunger thing will die a slow death. I quess everybody goes thru this when they are first banded. I've read how wonderful others are doing and hope I can look back in a year and have lost enough to be out of the 200. Good luck to all of you on your continued weight loss...

MY LAPBAND JOURNEY - DAY 4 POST OP

I purchased the chewable vitamins, I got CVS brand and they are not very good I think I will try the flintstone brand next go round and see if they taste any better. Probably a good thing not to weigh until at the dr's. I was banded 11 days ago and weighted everyday. I lost 11 lbs and my band was to tight so I had a hard time getting anything down so the dr loosed. Unfortuanetly I have gained back 4 of those pounds. You definelty dont want to get anything stuck because it is a misearble feeling for about 5 minutes.

BEWARE - Banded 1-11-11 and had to much saline.

Its a bad feeling to not be able to get anything down. I will go slow on my fills. I must have alot of swelling no being only 7 days out from surgery. I did get down some mushy chicken salad and mashed potatoes and my stomach loved me for it. After you get your fills do you really get restricted for a few days and then it gets better?
  17. Not been able to drink anything without PAIN. I did have to break down and call the doctor again today. He met me in the office on a Sunday which is hard to believe... My band was way to tight, he took out 4 cc of my 10 cc band. When they but the band on I thought it was empty for a 6 weeks but Dr. T told me that he always add a little but that was a lot... He was a little shocked that he got out 4 cc and he said that there was probably more. Well since then I have been able to drink water and broth and no pain (yohoo). One good thing I learned is that the fills aren't bad at all. I will also remember to get my fill early in the week just in case. I was not the only patient he was seeing on a Sunday there was also someone that had been banded for a year that had a fill on friday and not able to eat anything without major pain.

    Waiting for 1st Fill....

I can speak from experience you dont want to rush it. I was banded 1/11/11 and have loss 12 lbs. The weigh loss is good... I had to much saline in my band and had to go back in on a Sunday to have some take out. I can get liquids down now but things are still getting hung a little and TRUST ME you dont want that pain. To take a sip of water and feel like a elepahnt is there. To get to the fill part I had fluid taken out and only 5 days after surgery and still sore but the injection was not bad at all. The doctor numb the area so that stick was like a bee sting and then inserted the needle he took out 4 cc from my band. I know for me I'm going to go really slow on my fills because the pain you will get from getting stuck liquids is AWFUL... and I'm sure solids will be just as bad if not worse. When you get your fill make sure you drink alot to make sure it goes down and no pain while you are in the office. Good luck to you and 10 lbs is just the beginning...

BEWARE - Banded 1-11-11 and had to much saline.

I was banded in Charlottesville, Va. I dont think this was the Dr's doing's because I did have the barium swallow the day after and before we went home. I could swallow the barium so I think there was additional swelling, because I did feel the restriction getting worse everyday til even a sip of water hurt going down. My husband was also banded the same day and he was drinking as much as allowed without any problems.

4 days since surgery and still gurgling???

Thanks for the advice. One good thing I learned is that the fills aren't bad ad all and not to get a fill late in the week. I was not the only patient he was seeing on a Sunday there was also someone that had been banded for a year that had a fill on friday and not able to eat anything without major pain.
  21. Surgery was Tuesday. I have to admit for me the pain was rough. Walking does make it better. I did have a Hiatal Hernia that the doctor fixed so maybe that is some of the pain. I find that I'm having a hard time drinking. Liquids just kind of sit there and gurgles for a few minutes. Then the pain comes, gas I think if I belch which is hard that makes pain go away. I tried a popsicle and that goes down alot better. Any suggestions?

    My Surgery 1-11-11

My surgery was also om 1/11/11. It has been awful to say the least. I did have a hernia that the doctor fixed while doing the surgery so maybe that is most of my problems. I have a hard time drinking anything it grugles and just hangs and then the pain comes. I walk alot since they tell me that will get rid of the gas. I did break down and call the nurse because the pain got really bad after drinking water yesterday, and oh well you just have to ride it out. My husband did the band with me and we both agree this has been verrrry rough. Hope tommorrow is better. I still cant get down 64 oz. I'm trying to make myself drink one sip every 5 minutes. I haven't found many people on here that have been helpful and I wish that the doctors had pre surgery along with post surgery support groups. Good Luck Stephanie.
  23. shifflett00

Well Tommorrow is the BIG day.

Jan 11th has finally come. I will be banded along with my husband tommorrow . I have to say the last week has been very hard. The protein pre-surgery shakes have left me hungry all the time. I stayed with the process only giving in to temptation a few times. I gained weight which is hard to believe but the boost protein are alot of calories and you have to drink 4 plus a dinner. If I had it over I think I would have eaten lunch instead. I hope the hunger pains aren't like this after the band is put on. I went to the grocery store yesterday and wandered up and down the isles trying to find the things on my list to eat for the next week or 2. That was not much fun. It is very had to find fat free and sugar free items. I'm hoping I have made some good choices. This defenitely isn't a EASY process . I'm hoping next week this time I can post that I have lost what I gained plus some. And the journey begins......
  24. I will be banded on the 11th. I cant wait to get this started. I've been starving since I've been on the protein thing for a week. I've only slipped a few times but It's very hard not to eat all day just dinner.
  25. shifflett00

Day 4 of Pre diet YUK..

Day 4 of the Boost 4 times a day and light dinner. Day 1 and 2 weren't as bad as 3 and 4 and I have 4 more days to go till surgery. My doctor didn't make it mandatory but I didn't want to wake up and not have been banded due to fatty liver. Any suggestions on how to get thru 4 more days? I find that something is making me nauseous, all the protein or lack of food. I have had to nibble on a cracker to get over the nausea. I'm doing this banding with my husband so he is on the same boost and light dinner and he is fine (I could smack him sometimes) and has lost 7 pounds and me NOTHING . He does weigh alot more than me so maybe that is it. Any little tips would be helpfull..
