I started on this journey in October 2009.  I had looked at pictures of myself from family gatherings and could not believe how big I was!  I researched possible surgeries and the Lap Band was the most alluring.  To give some more background, a family member of mine had the Gastric Bypass done about 9 years earlier and I watched them lose weight rapidly but also saw them become malnourished looking.  Therefore, that surgery was not an option.  Once I stepped foot into the office for the seminar I felt like I was at home.  I had read numerous testimonials and one of the persons testimonials I had read happened to be assisting with the seminar.  Coindcidence?  I think not!  After that everything just seemd to fall into place.  I had to do 4 months of weight loss visits for my insurance and had to jump through a few more hoops before it was finally approved, but True Results made the process very smooth.  I had the surgery in April 2010 and have not looked back since.  The recovery took longer than I thought it should but it was still only about 4 days until I was ready to go back to work.  I have lost about 40 pounds since surgery and have found that there is an adjustment curve that you have to get over.  The after care appointments are no big deal at all.  I was afraid of the procedure to adjust the band but the nurse uses something to numb the area so I don't feel anything after the initial shot of numbing medicine.  I am currently on my way to my goal weight and while the weight loss is slow, I have noticed that I look healthy and that my body is changing slowly which I think is great.  My husband has noticed the differences also and tells me all the time how proud he is of me.  I do run in to others how are jealous but I have to realize that I can't please everyone and I did not do this to make them happy, I did this to make me healthy!
