    Have not exercised

I figure people can't judge me for being fat and then judge me because I look funny when I excerise. I admire you for being so brave. I dont think i could do it.

    Have not exercised

I agree with above, but if you haven't exercised for a long time start small. Park you car one row from where you normally would and, each day a bit further away. Two 5 minute walks a day slowly increasing. I was walking 1 block to start with and now i am walking for 30 to 40 minutes. As the weight drops the further you can go and the quicker you can walk. I shop more now as my back doesn't hurt and i can walk for longer. I use to do my walks in the shopping centre because i could walk, then sit, and then walk a bit further, but i didn't do much shopping as i couldn't stand in line at the check out without my back hurting. I also did things to motivate me as i am not that keen on exercise either. I would take the kids to the zoo or the park, anywhere i would have to walk but that was fun or interesting. Start small.
  4. Good view from the moon! I have had my first fill 3 months post op and have had the same problem. I head to the ladies for relief, but can just about guarantee some one else will be in there as well. So i sit and wait till the coast is clear. Then.... to the moon and back.LOL
  5. I am 3 months post op and until 3 days ago had no fill in my band and was able to eat almost the same as i could before my band, only a little less and with more caution. 3 days ago i had 6mls put in my band and spent 2 days on liquids but felt no difference. Today though i have a niggley pain in my shoulder blade similar to the first few weeks post op. I felt full after a coffee this morning and now i have just had some salmon and lettuce in mountain bread and am feeling quite full. Previously i would eat my mountain bread wrap and then have some extra salad on top. Even though it is a "no no" i have been able to drink after a meals but feel i can't/shouldn't today. This is good, i need the weight to start dropping again as i have lost very little in the last 4-6 weeks. Hooray for fills!
  6. I have had a laparotomy,3 c-sections, numerous laparoscopies including gall bladder removal. My surgeon didn't seem concerned and all went well with my band surgery.

    Don't like the new LBT!

The top post on every page has an add in the box that runs into the post - it is soooooo annoying. I can not get chat to load either, had trouble yesterday but cant get in at all today.
  8. I had my first fill of 6 mls 2 days ago and have been on fluids only since. ( can start back on real food later today) My problem is i have a lot of gas and that is OK at home (my husband and kids may not agree), but i have exercise class this morning. Last week we did palates and the girl behind me had her legs in the air and.... whoops... I just dont want that to be me this week. I would die of embarrassment! Anyone know of any quick fixes ?

    They couldnt fill me!!!!

Doc couldnt access my port so went yesterday to have it done under xray. He still couldnt get in to the port even though everything looked fine on the xray so he used contrast and still wasn't able to get the needle in. He was then talking about going in to have a look under anesthetic. But thanks to the xray guy, i was sent over to the attached public hospital where they used the bigger xray machine and a longer needle and finally managed to give me my fill of 6mls. I have a pocket of fluid around my port and every time the needle pushed on the port it would tip and the needle slipped off instead of going in. With a better view they were able to get into the port. The needle was pretty bent up when they finished. It didnt hurt.
  10. Finally got my first fill today. I spent all day in the day procedure unit. Had to do my fill under xray - surgeon still couldn't access my port so they sent me over to the public hospital where some doctor did it under the big xray machine with an extra long needle and contrast as well. Turns out my port was tipping when ever the needle hit it as it is still surrounded by fluid. Anyway had 6mls put in and am on fluids for 2 days. Funny thing is, i lost my first kilo this week after staying the same for the last 4 weeks. Oh well, with the fill i should see the weight start to drop steadily again (hopefully). Hang in there guys we will get there!
  11. I got my first fill today after nearly 3 months and they put in 6mls.
  12. Saturday evening walk at Glenelg. Cant work out how to attach the photos. Will try again.
  13. I was too busy dodging swooping birds on my walk today to notice any scenery. Mind you i live in a built up area, mainly homes and a few small parks, nothing as nice as your pics. At lunch time i walk along the edge of the airport near where i work which can be interesting, but i tend to stop and watch the planes instead of keeping a steady pace.

    Great guy.

My husband has been great. He did the pre op diet with me and walks with me and is also keen to keep our meals healthy. He is also reaping the benefits and has lost 9 kilo's. It really helps to have support. The kids complain that there is no snack food in the house but my daughter and one of my sons have also dropped some weight, my daughter walks with me too. My band is great for whole family.
  15. My first post op visit was 5 weeks post op. My weight loss was good so doc said come back in 6 weeks. I begged him to see me sooner as my weight loss had slowed right down. Saw him 2 weeks later and he tried to do a fill but my port was surrounded by fluid and he could not access it. Then i was going on holiday and now he is on holiday so in just under 2 weeks he will attempt a fill under xray. Mean time, I am hungry, hungry, hungry and struggling to maintain my weight loss.
  16. I am still waiting on my 1st fill!!!

    Regular clothes?

I wore stretchy pants for about 4 weeks and left my bra off as much as possible in the first 2 weeks.(as instructed). There was no way i could put on a bra for the first few days.
  18. I have had 7 laparoscopic procedures over the last 25 years. Shoulder tip pain is common and the severity i believe is dependent on how much gas is left behind. Your abdomen is pumped full of gas to separate things so the surgeon can see what he/she is doing and when complete they remove as much of the gas as possible. The pain usually reduces over a few days as the gas is absorbed. The pain was the worst when i had my band and lasted longer - probably due to the Frenic (is that how it is spelt) nerve involvement. I have found gas pain varies from under the diaphragm to either shoulder tips.
  19. What is a flouro? Is it like an xray? I have to have a fill under xray in 2 weeks as doc couldn't access my port. Have to go to Day surgery clinic to get it done. I am so looking forward to getting a fill as i am 10 weeks post op with zero in my band and if it wasn't for the scars i would swear i had only dreamt i had WLS. I am struggling with maintaining my weight loss. Up half a kilo down half a kilo - i am going insane!
  20. My mother used to tell me - hard boiled egg diets are good because it takes more calories to digest a boiled egg than is in the egg? I think i burned up the calories on the toilet trying to get rid of the aftermath of too many boiled eggs. Could be true i suppose!

    Sorry TMI...

I was taking benifibre twice daily and still only averaged BM every 4 days.(with difficulty). I am 2 and a bit months post op and have no restriction and have started eating more and BMs are almost back to normal. I assume once i finally get some restriction and my intake drops again i will go back to 4 daily. I have a suspicion that the fibre adds to my problem even though i drink plenty.

    Turned away for cheating

Maybe it depends on your starting BMI. I was up in the 50's.

    The worst timing!

I don't understand the American health care system! Here in Australia you choose the private health care policy that suits you best and pay your premiums or you rely on Medicare (public health system) and put your name on waiting lists for elective surgery and wait, wait, wait. Mind you i have private health and waited 6 weeks to have surgery and paid a $3000 co payment on top of my benefits and my sister went public and waited 2 years and paid nothing. Good luck with getting your surgery covered it must be stressful for you.

    Turned away for cheating

I had a 4 week pre op diet. The risk was if my Liver didn't shrink enough the procedure would not be able to be done "key Hole" and they would do a full open procedure - this happened to my sister for Gastric bypass - and she was cut from sternum to bikini line plus two other small incisions where they tried to do it key hole. I was lucky that i responded well to the pre op diet and despite a little cheating lost 11 - 12 kilos (my scales and the doctors do not agree). Seeing what my sister went through was good motivation as well.
