  1. Sounds to me like you are suffering from regular post op pains .... and guilt! 4 days post op your stomach will still be swollen, the stitches to hold the band in cause pain till they heal and the gas that they use during surgery to expand your abdomen settles under your diaphragm and causes pain for anything up to 10 - 14 days, maybe less. Eating all that stuff so soon is not wise but i am sure it shouldn't cause any major damage unless you ate until you threw up. If you are concerned, the best thing is to ring your surgeon, you will feel awful having to tell them you jumped the gun on mushies but it is better than getting sick if there is a problem. As for you BM's anything goes post op as your body adjusts. I was constipated for about 4 weeks, others suffer from what you described. Think about how you feel now if you are tempted again. Maybe you need to only buy things as you are able to eat them so they are not sitting in the pantry tempting you. I know what it is like, it is there, you want it and it is on your mind until you can resist no longer! (this is why i needed the band) Good luck.
  2. Had my fill under xray this am. There was only 3.5ml in the band - should have been at least 6ml. Hope i dont have a leak. Put 6ml back in and even though i am on fluids i am feeling it. It took nearly an hour and a call to the surgeon to do the fill. My port is tipped forward and they needed to go in from underneath. Will hear the surgeons take on it next week i expect.Good deal on the gym for you

  3. Well done and Happy New year to you and your family as well.

I have decided to try and book in for an xray before i see the doc next week. My rehab exercise classes start this week - covered by my health insurance for 30 weeks, gym and pool so looking forward to that. Take care.

  5. Oh wow. I am wondering if our expectations of restriction are too high. I get a pain if i eat too much but it is not bad. Never feel like i need to throw up or anything. Not knowing exactly how much is in my band doesn't help. I have read on here that people have smaller bands that hold like 4mls - does that sound right? Hope you don't have to have a revision. Take care.

  6. I have had some issues with my fills and still have no restriction. Surgeon cant seem to access my port as it tips. Had 6mls under xray and was supposed to do that again week before Christmas but it didnt happen for various reasons. I have the form to get it done, but think i will wait till i see the surgeon in a couple of weeks. I am hungry though! Hope your 4th fill is the "one".Happy New Year.

  7. We are heading to Hawaii next Christmas so i have a goal to get into swimmers without scaring everyone on the beach. So i had better get busy.

  8. Hi, I am going OK. Slow and steady. Have put on a little over Christmas but am back at work today so will get back on track.

You have the same birthday as me - amazing, but you are a year younger - lucky you!

    Newbie here

Stick to mushies, eat slowly and try not to be tempted to eat too much. Hope you had a good Christmas. Good luck and enjoy your journey.

    Lap band removed! :(

It really sucks that this has happened to you. Good luck for the future and what ever you decide to go with.
  12. Hoping everyone had a great Christmas. I ate a little of what ever i wanted and i enjoyed it. I am up 1/2 kilo today but it was worth it. Off for a big walk later, that 1/2 kilo will soon be gone. Next challenge - New Year! Cheers everyone.
  13. Merry Christmas everyone. Have a fun and love filled day tomorrow. Enjoy your meal and get back on track next day.

    Pain in left side

I had a pain like a stitch in my left side for about 4 weeks post op, it was worse if i walked straight after eating or if i got constipated. I think it was just the band settling in and the stitches they used to anchor it healing. I still get the pain occasionally if i lie the wrong way or eat too much. If in doubt, talk to your clinic. Good luck.
  15. I have had issues with fills. I had my first fill under xray. After a lot of pushing and prodding and the use of contrast they put in 6 mls. I felt no difference. Two days ago the doctor tried another fill in his rooms. He said he got out 6 ml and put it back in with an extra 3ml but couldn't get it back again so isn't positive it went into my port. (My port tips and the needle slips out) The fluid he gets back is yellow and previously he has said it wasn't from my band but he doesn't know where it is from. No pockets of fluid were evident on xray. Any way, because the doc is not sure if the fluid went in he gave me a referral for another xray that i have to get done next week if i dont feel any restriction. From there he is thinking of an endoscopy. Well i am eating the same as before with no problems but yesterday after chicken and salad i had a tight feeling across my back radiating up into the side of my neck that slowly eased off over time, not a bad pain just annoying. Do you think this is a sign of restriction? I am looking for food again before 4 hours is up but am not sure if that is just head hunger. I could have zero, 6mls or 9mls of fluid in my band. I dont know if i need to have the xray or not. Doc says i must have restriction if i am loosing weight, but my loss is very slow and i am dieting basically, and exercising nearly every day. I have never had a stuck episode, never PB'ed and never vomited but have definitely exceeded the amounts i food i should be able to eat. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.I dont want the xray if i dont need it.
  16. I want to eat that burger, i could eat that burger, and about a month ago i did eat that burger, and it was gooooooood.......... But the guilt that followed was awful.

    They couldnt fill me!!!!

This is what is happening with me but the surgeon is unsure what to do. I ended up with a fill of 6 mls under xray but felt no different. Doc tried again yesterday and said he put 3 more ml in but is not certain it went in. If i dont feel restriction in the next couple of days i need to go back to xray and from there to endoscopy and i expect eventually to surgery to have my port repositioned. Surgeon is certain the port hasn't flipped but cant understand why he cant get in, he says it could be because of how deep it is. I am big but i wouldn't have thought i was the biggest patient he has ever had, he only uses regular size needles - like when you get an injection. Xray doc uses extra long needle. Doc also questions my restriction because i have lost 3 kilos in the last 6 weeks. I told him it was because i am dieting and exercising but have no restriction but he doesn't agree. I am frustrated but need to stay focused because i refuse to put any weight back on.
  18. Well, went for a follow up at the surgeon after my very eventful fill 2 weeks ago. He didnt have the report from the radiologist and decided to try and add some more fluid as i have no restriction. He is not certain the fluid went in but thinks it is possible he added another 3 mls to my 6. If i dont feel any restriction by the end of the week i have to have another fill with the radiographer. Any more issues and he wants to do an endoscopy. He is concerned that the fluid coming back is not from my port but if it is a seroma it should be gone by now so he is puzzled by where it is coming from. The fluid coming back is not clear, it is yellowish. All i can do is wait and see. We were going out to dinner tonight for our anniversary and now i have to have soup just incase the fill went in. I hope everyone else is doing OK.
  19. I just ate a big lump of fresh bread without thinking - and...nothing no problems. I am starting to wonder if that 6mls actually went in to my band after all. They had such a hard time accessing my port and had to use contrast under xray - twice, to put the fill in. It wasn't my Doc and i dont think he withdrew it to check the fluid was in my band like my surgeon does. My surgeon thought he had put the fluid in previously and withdrew it again to check and it came back a different color and twice the volume so he wasn't in the port, he was in a pocket of fluid around my port, so i just wonder if i actually have any fill cause it doesn't feel like it.
  20. I have had one fill of 6 mls in my 10ml band and have very little, if any restriction.
  21. I am going to be honest here. After a week i could function quite well but got tired and sore quickly. After 2 weeks i was back at work but was still having a little discomfort and got tired easily. My port wound took 4 weeks to heal up completely. It was 6 weeks before i could say i was no longer having twinges and strange little, and not so little pains. But appreciate those little pains, they reminded me that i was banded and kept me on track with my eating even though i had no restriction as i was afraid i would damage something if i ate more than was recommended. Good luck with your journey.

    5 months post op

TRy a warm cuppa in the morning to relax things. Stay away from McDonalds. Try some tuna or salmon or moist chicken and salad and eat slowly and chew well. Stay away from bread. If things don't settle you may need a slight unfill.
  23. Tell him you want support not supervision. All you need him to say when you cheat is that it is OK. We all need to cheat a little sometimes so, then for most of the time we can make good decisions. It is no big deal as long as you don't go back to old habits. I know for me i will crave things and finally give in and have a little and realize it wasn't as good as i though it would be and next time i am able to resist as i remind myself it was not that good anyway(or it hurt). So cheating a little can prevent cheating a lot! So tell him even though you ate something that wasn't the best for you that you are in control and he doesn't need to be. Good luck and well done on your weight loss so far.
  24. I had my first fill of 6 mls over a week ago and it really hasn't made any difference. I have been being cautious and eating slowly. But i have started to loose again slowly. I walk every lunch time during the week while i am at work and i am doing the post op exercises classes at the hospital every Saturday, so i suppose that is helping. I am aiming for 5 kilos by Christmas, but the Festive season is upon us and the lunches and dinners have begun, so it will be tough!
  25. I think you should go and see a skin specialist. They will order blood work to look for underlying causes and then treat appropriately. Do it soon before you get too much scarring. good luck.
