I have even been getting up in the middle of the night to weigh myself. I lay awake and wonder if my weight will be down and I cant sleep so have to get up and check. This week i have been going back to bed frustrated as the scales are not moving.

Thanks. I tried to ring the doctors room but no one was there so thought i would wait and see what happened before i rang the out of hours emergency number. Had some warm soup that hurt like hell for a while but now the pain has settled and i feel much better. Think i will stick to fluids for the next day or so! What would cause me to get pain like that first thing in the morning?

I am nearly 3 weeks post op. I woke up this morning and was fine but as soon as i got out of bed i started getting pain in my stomach. I feel like i need to burp and have but the pain is still there. I have had some fluid but that makes the pain worse. It has been about 3 hours now and i am starting to worry something is wrong. I have taken panadol about half an hour ago. I dont have any nausea just spasms of pain. Any ideas on what could be happening?

I had my band done nearly 3 weeks ago by Prof Toouli at FPH. I was very pleased with everything. He was recommended to me several years ago by a girl i worked with.

I am back at work this week and was a bit concerned at peoples reactions. I was quite open with every one because it is a fairly close team. Past experiences with diets have seen people (not these ones) feel the need to monitor every thing i put near my mouth and i thought this might happen now, but everyone has been wonderful, very supportive. We had morning tea yesterday and i was even offered a bit of cheese cake - which i declined. At lunch time on Monday a girl from the office next door came to talk to me and told me she was banded in June so now i have some support nearby if i need it. Overall returning to work has been wonderful. I am 16 days post op and have lost a total of 16 Kilo's.(4 post op).

I try to keep busy. I will be back at work next week and that will help. I also find diet jelly (jello) helps for a short time. And i keep telling myself it is in my head and i am not really hungry. I survived, well actually thrived on 2 shakes and a special band meal a day and nothing else for 4 weeks pre op so i can do this... We can all do this!

Kids say the darndest things.....
JanB23 replied to TracyNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kids are funny and not necessarily young ones. We were discussing how great it will be down the track when i have lost more weight and my 20 year old pipes up and says, "i don't want a MILF for a mum." I was also telling my mother about this while we were in the hospital (for her) and she asked me what a MILF is and the young nurse who was walking by just about choked, it was funny. -
banded 6 days ago and Im hungry!!
JanB23 replied to carebear99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! I am 10 days post op and around day 6 -7 was craving food. I think it was just that i though i was hungry. I had a couple of days where i had extra serves of soup but, then i had no weight loss. Yesterday i kept myself busy all day and stuck to my shakes and soup and it was a much better day. I also keep diet jelly (jello) in the fridge to eat when i need something. Returning to work next week will help so i wont be sitting around thinking about food. It is also hard when you have to cook for the rest of the family. -
How much weight have u lost?
JanB23 replied to lml398's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 8 days post op as well and i have only lost 2 kilos. I have been eating low fat ice cream as recommended but not a lot and potato based soup, maybe thats why. I lost 12 kilo pre op though and feel pretty good. Cant wait to loose more. -
I am day 7 and am tolerating my shakes well although i have only been having half serves as my dietician said no more than 1/2 cup of anything 3 x daily. Day 3 every thing i consumed made me feel ill until i had yogurt. Normal low fat smooth yogurt, 100mls. I was thinking of getting some yukult but the yogurt seemed to help.

Pre op I did optifast for 2 meals and then had a Fulfil (new frozen band meals)meal for tea. I lost 12 kilo in 4 1/2 weeks. Breath wasnt too bad but sensitivity to the cold was bad some days. And i was constipated.

Pre op i would get referred pain in my ear from gastric reflux.

I used to be a nurse but am now in admin. I am having two weeks off as suggested by my surgeon. My main concern is wearing a bra for eight hours as it puts pressure on my stomach and at the moment i last about 1-2 hours and then have to rip it off.

I was banded 30th August and am on free fluids for another week. I am supposed to only have half a cup but that doesn't fill me up.I have been eating a lot of diet jelly. I figure it satisfies my need to eat, has no calories and increases my fluid intake. After 2 weeks i can go onto 2 band meals a day (specially prepared frozen meals) and i am looking forward to that. I had these for the pre op diet but only once a day with opitfast for the other two meals - had good weight loss. Also when i am back at work i wont be seeing all the food ads on TV, i never realized how much food advertising there actually is. Noticed at first cause it made me feel sick and now they make me feel hungry.I am hanging in there though!

Hi. I'm new here, banded two days ago
JanB23 replied to Ravey's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Banded 4 days ago. I lost 11 kilos (24lbs) pre op - as requested to reduce the size of my liver. Came out of hospital 2 kilos heavier. Today however my weight has dropped and and i am down a kilo on pre op. Wish i had done this before but didn't have the support and probably wasn't ready to make the commitment required to be successful. Turning 50 shook me up and with a strong family history of diabetes i decided it was time to improve my health. Looking forward to not worrying if i will fit into the seat on the plane or at the theatre! -
Did you do a barium swallow after surgery?
JanB23 replied to Anwyn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If i had a barium swallow i don't remember it, so i am fairly sure i didn't have one. I had my surgery at 9.30 am and there was no way i would have been OK to go home the same day,i couldn't keep my eyes open for more than 5 minutes. I struggled home the next morning and was quite anxious as i was nauseated and not tolerating much fluid. But i am day 4 post op now and doing OK. -
Not doing well emotionally post-op-HELP PLEASE!
JanB23 replied to drivera's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Monday and it is now Thursday here in Australia. Day 2 was awful, i just kept thinking"what have i done to myself".I had pain radiating up into my chest, i was nauseated and trying to get any fluid in just made me feel worse. Today i am happy to say i feel human again, my pain is minimal and i am able to tolerate my fluids. Now looking forward to some weight loss and a healthier life style. -

JanB23 replied to NC Dave's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
