    AGE

It's been sixteen months since I had a lapband inserted around my stomach. I was 59 at the time. I do not regret having this surgery at all. Sometimes I feel for my old life but only for moments. I have had no problems with fills personally. I ask for a numbing shot first but I don't know if I really need it or it's just in my head. I am currently at 9 cc's in a 14 cc band and I feel very close to where it will stay for life. I can walk for hours and not tire. I would love to run but ankles say otherwise. (probably too many years overweight) lol Surgery wasn't bad; had four little incisions so healed quickly. I no longer take diabetes meds and my blood pressure and cholesterol meds are the lowest meds available. I, personally cannot feel the band at all. You can feel the port if you press enough but not in such a way as to make it noticeable to another person looking at you. Hope this helps. Sorry I didn't answer earlier. Hope it's not too late for you.

    60 or Older?

I turned 60 mid November and had my lapband surgery April 21st last year. Had it tatooed on my hand so I would never forget it and to always remind me never to screw it up! My surgery was done at a military hospital and the cut off age date is 60. Good thing I looked into it when I did or I wouldn't have been eligible. I also am 5'2" and started out last year at 218. As of today, nine months later, I weighed in at 150. Until the last couple months the weight was coming off at about 2 lbs. a week. Now it's been one pound in the last two months. But I'm not gaining and that's fine with me. I've gone from size 18-20 to M/S's and wear size 8 jeans. I think I look fine right now but the Dr. says I should be 120 for my height. At this rate that will be awhile. LOL I would not change a thing. I tried for too many years on my own and it wasn't working. The only problem I've had as of right now is my port shifted and had to be relocated. I'm not an expert by any means but will answer any questions, if I can, if any newbies would like to ask me.
  7. Hello. I'm 5'2" and just turned 60 a couple months ago. I was thinking 135 would be where I should be as that's what I weighed most of the time when I was younger. I'm pretty sure I can change his mind once I get there and he sees I look okay. Just not sure I want to be skin and bones, which is what I think I'd feel like at 120. Guess I'll see how it goes.

    What is first bite syndrome?
  9. HI Peg, I would like to be your friend. I am 62 years old. I am now 143. My surgeon recommended me to be 150, but I lost some more. I have reached my 100 lbs goal. I hope that we can continue to our goals into maintenance. I found it strange that your surgeon said 120. How short are you? I am 5'3" and he said woman of a certain age show their age too much if they get too small. Karen

I see pictures and other things on peoples replys but how did they get there? My picture doesn't even show up? Is there somewhere I go to put them there? Thanks

Lap Band Fills / Adjustment Info

Had a fill a week ago tomorrow making it 6cc in a 14 cc band. My question is I'm finding it hard to eat in the mornings now. I was told to try drinking something hot upon arising but this doesn't seem to help alot. Any other suggestions. Farther along in the day I have no problems with eating.
