  1. Had a fill again after two months and today was the first time I could eat regular snce then and within a few minutes after eating my first bite I had really bad chest pains. Or at least the pain was in my chest area. I stopped eating and it stopped after a bit. To me tho, after that I really paid attention, it seemed more like bad gas pains. Any suggestions what I might have done wrong? I chewed well, it was scrambled eggs, so I wouldn't think it was that, but.....don't know. I'm at 6cc in a 14cc band. Would overeating possibly cause it? Or maybe I ate too fast? My Dr. does more RNY's than bands so I don't feel real confident in asking him and I don't know very many of the people that have had the band as they don't come to the support group meetings. We kind of feel left out of it all as we're not sure how much of what we learn really pertains to us. Thanks for any input.
  2. Good luck with yours also. Mine began 4/21/2010
  3. Blanchfield @ Ft. Campbell made us have a psych eval. And from start to surgery for me was six months.

    AGE

It's been sixteen months since I had a lapband inserted around my stomach. I was 59 at the time. I do not regret having this surgery at all. Sometimes I feel for my old life but only for moments. I have had no problems with fills personally. I ask for a numbing shot first but I don't know if I really need it or it's just in my head. I am currently at 9 cc's in a 14 cc band and I feel very close to where it will stay for life. I can walk for hours and not tire. I would love to run but ankles say otherwise. (probably too many years overweight) lol Surgery wasn't bad; had four little incisions so healed quickly. I no longer take diabetes meds and my blood pressure and cholesterol meds are the lowest meds available. I, personally cannot feel the band at all. You can feel the port if you press enough but not in such a way as to make it noticeable to another person looking at you. Hope this helps. Sorry I didn't answer earlier. Hope it's not too late for you.

    60 or Older?

I turned 60 mid November and had my lapband surgery April 21st last year. Had it tatooed on my hand so I would never forget it and to always remind me never to screw it up! My surgery was done at a military hospital and the cut off age date is 60. Good thing I looked into it when I did or I wouldn't have been eligible. I also am 5'2" and started out last year at 218. As of today, nine months later, I weighed in at 150. Until the last couple months the weight was coming off at about 2 lbs. a week. Now it's been one pound in the last two months. But I'm not gaining and that's fine with me. I've gone from size 18-20 to M/S's and wear size 8 jeans. I think I look fine right now but the Dr. says I should be 120 for my height. At this rate that will be awhile. LOL I would not change a thing. I tried for too many years on my own and it wasn't working. The only problem I've had as of right now is my port shifted and had to be relocated. I'm not an expert by any means but will answer any questions, if I can, if any newbies would like to ask me.
  6. Hello. I'm 5'2" and just turned 60 a couple months ago. I was thinking 135 would be where I should be as that's what I weighed most of the time when I was younger. I'm pretty sure I can change his mind once I get there and he sees I look okay. Just not sure I want to be skin and bones, which is what I think I'd feel like at 120. Guess I'll see how it goes.

Lap Band Fills / Adjustment Info

Had a fill a week ago tomorrow making it 6cc in a 14 cc band. My question is I'm finding it hard to eat in the mornings now. I was told to try drinking something hot upon arising but this doesn't seem to help alot. Any other suggestions. Farther along in the day I have no problems with eating.

Lap Band Fills / Adjustment Info

I don't know anyone as I live in TN. but I noticed on the home page that there's a list of Dr.'s listed by state, maybe you could find one that way.

I'm finding it hard to eat in the mornings since this last fill. Is this normal? I've never experienced it before. I was told to drink something hot first thing in the morning and it should help this but it doesn't.

Didn't realize how long it had been since I'd been on this site. I'm now down to 151 but it's been two months since I lost any weight, that's why I got another fill last week. This time it seems to be making a difference; apparantly I eat faster than I thought cuz now it causes me gas and boy is that painful. It never did this before. I like me at this weight but the Doc still says 120. I've been thinking about 135. Guess I'll have to see what happens when I get there. Hope all had great holidays.

    pain in chest after eating

This was the first time I actually noticed a difference. I have had several fills and even one unintentional unfill but until this one I didn't notice a difference at all. So that may be why it happened. I was too use to being able to eat the way I do and this showed me to be more careful now and in the future. It was a lesson well learned.

    pain in chest after eating

Two days of liquids and two days of mushy stuff and I did that. But I could probably work on the eating slower suggestion. I chew well but have to admit I don't really eat slowly.
  16. My port moved and was stuck almost upside down between my ribs. About three weeks ago I had to have it moved and now it's lower and stitched in place. So, yes, it can move. Mine stuck out so far from being caught between where my ribs come together that I couldn't hug anyone cuz it would push on the port. It's much better now!! (I am a side sleeper and I'm assuming it wasn't stitched before and that 's why it moved.)

We lived in Yakima for 5 years after my husband first retired but decided after all the years here that was where we wanted to be so came back and have never left. We did leave a daughter and two of our grandkids there wnen we left tho and that was sad as we haven't gotten to see them grow up. We are looking forward to the grandson's graduation next year tho and plan on attending. We are originally from Idaho (him) and Montana (me). Glad to meet you.

I have been about 100 lbs. overweight for almost 20 years. Seems like when I quit smoking they just piled on and never left. I have three daughters, five grandkids and one great granddaughter. I have been married for 38 1/2 years and when my hubby retired from the military we settled in TN. Have lived all over the U.S. in my lifetime. As of this morning; I weigh on Saturday mornings; I'm 172 lbs. which makes my loss 46 lbs. My goal is 120 but will be happy as long as it's less than 150. I like to garden and work in the yard. I work 4 ten hour days a week and don't plan on retiring til I'm at least 65. Then I'd like to roam around the country seeing all the things I never got to when I was younger.

    New 60+ Thread

Was told about your site at my support group meeting last night and enjoyed reading the posts so joined up. I won't be 60 til November but close enough. I was wondering, since I didn't see it anywhere here, has anyone had any problems with their port moving? Mine has tilted sideways into the space between where my rib cage meets. Can't hug anyone cuz it makes it hurt. The Dr. didn't seem too worried about it but I don't like it much. My surgery was April 21st of this year and so far have had two fills, making my band 3cc's filled, and have lost 42 lbs. I seem to be able to eat most anything and have never experienced upchucking or nausea. I have to watch everything I eat as I could eat more than I do but I won't let myself. It's not always easy and I have screwed up once. It was enough to cure me ever doing that again. Had a side ache the whole night. Anyway, glad to have found your site. I am on the lapband co. site and was surprised to see this site is maintained by them also. Never saw it on the other site.
  22. was banded 4-21-10 and was wondering if anyone has had any problems with their port moving? Mine was placed under the middle of the bra area and because I'm a side sleeper it has shifted and is now slanted into the area between my ribs which makes it stick out. My question is.. if this has happened to anyone else did it ever go back to being "flat"?
