I started thinking about bariatric surgery a few years ago, I was thinking about Gastric By Pass but read alot about it and decided not to pursue it.. In February 2010 I went to a seminar about Lap Band and was convinced this was the option i wanted... I called the dr office and gave them the insurance info to see if it would be approved, I have 2 insurances, mine and my husbands... My own insurance was fine but my husbands did not have the dr as a participating provider. After waiting another month I decided to find a different surgeon. I checked both insurance companies to be sure the surgeon was participating with both... Dr Philpe Quilici and Providence St Jospeh hospital are particpating providers which means insurance covers at particpating dr & hospital rates.....So here we are today, July 25, 2010. I am scheduled for surgery on August 6th.... Very excited, have had my nutritional visit, my cardiac clearance and go for my final surgeon visit before surgery on Wed. Get my physical with my own physician on Thursday. Go to support group on Wed...  All the final things getting done. Started the liquid diet, protien, broth, sugar free jello, pudding, popsicle, etc. .... So this is the beginning of my new life, for the better, I am very positive about this, looking forward to eventually not having to take blood pressure medicine, my feet and knees not hurting and feeling better. Looking forward to hiking with the grandkids and being able to be more active, looking forward to going on silly carnival rides i couldn't go on before because I couldn't fit!!! I thank God for giving me the opportunity to make this change in my life.
