Hello, I just got banded yesterday (1/12/11)! I am still pretty sore where the port is, but I am feeling better with every hour that goes by. I got home this afternoon and I am taking my liquids in every 15 minutes. I am super excited to see what this new year has in store for me! I am hoping to be close to my goal weight of 160 by the end of the year.

Welcome! Hopefully the Lap-Band is going to be the right wls option for you. Keep doing your research as it will help you when you become nervous. Also know that your experience will be completely different from everybody else. There are some common areas but we all have unique bodies. Good luck!

Welcome everybody! -
I am on the NuvaRing too but I am only 3 days post-surgery. I was told from the very beginning to use a second form of birth control because you become very fertile after losing a lot of weight.

I personally wear BareMinerals but that might be a little heavy for what you are looking for. If you go into one of their stores, they will give you a "make-under". Also, maybe go to a counter in one of the department stores. Tell them exactly what you want to wear and they will give some suggestions to you. I think that just a little bit of eyeshadow can make the world of difference. You don't have to go dark or really bright, just stick with really light colors. I like pinks and purples. Also, try eyeliner! Don't go black but try brown. That will be natural and maybe give you just the look you are looking for.

Oh yes, this is one of the main reasons why I got the Lap-Band. I CANNOT stand the clothes at Lane Bryant. I also want to be able to wear sexy lingerie and look sexy in it too.

Hi Jen, I just want to let you know how inspiring your photos are! Thank you so much for posting them. I just got banded 3 days ago and I am looking forward to all the changes that are to come.

I have had this video for more than 6 months and I feel like I still can't move onto level 2. Granted, I don't work out with it every day or even every other day, but it really does kick my butt every time I do it. I am SUPER sore the day after and the day after that. But it is a really good video and I would recommend it to anyone.

Are you open about being banded or

I haven't told everyone I know but I have told some friends. My whole family knows and I have not gotten much support from my mom and brother. My mom thinks that I will treat this as a magic wand and not put any effort into exercising. My brother practically told me that I am cheating. Oh well, it isn't their body. My husband has been super supportive and I think he is excited to have a thinner wife. All the friends that I have told are very supportive. I was receiving text messages and phone calls the day before and after my surgery to make sure that I was doing ok. I think as time goes on and I start to lose more weight, I will have to tell people. I don't want to lie to people but I am concerned about what people think. But, if they can't accept that I had to have surgery, then they aren't a true friend. -
I was also banded on January 12th and I had the exact same thoughts in my head. I gained 1 lb the day after I got home but I am not down 2.6 lbs. I am so excited to be on this journey. This is my new life! My doctor wants clear liquids for the first week, full liquids for the second week, pureed for the third and fourth weeks and soft foods for the fifth week. I can then start to introduce other foods into my diet.

Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
Ambersue48 replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery yesterday and everything went so smoothly. I got to the hospital at 11:15 for a 1:45 surgery. I wasn't nervous at all since I have had laproscopic surgery before. My surgeon was very surprised at how calm I was. As I was wheeled into surgery, I was given some relaxing medication. I remember getting into the room and then they put an oxygen mask on and then I was out. I woke up in the recovery room and I was so groggy still. I felt a little nauseated so they gave me some medicine for that. I don't remember much from the recovery room but I remember a nurse taking me upstairs to my room. I started waking up around 6:30 since my bariatric nurse had to leave at 7pm and she wanted to go over how to drink my liquids before she left. I started my liquids right after and drank 1 oz every 15 minutes. I spent the night in the hospital and woke up around 6:30am to start my liquids again. I had to get up and walk and drink my liquids all morning and I was discharged around 12:30pm. I am feeling better but I still have some gas pains in my back and shoulders. My neck is achy as well but I don't know if that is from the gas or if it's just from sleeping in a hospital bed. -
Congratulations! I just got banded yesterday! Good luck on your weight loss.

I'm getting banded on the 12th as well in Minnesota. I'm so excited and this is going to be a great year!
